Belichick Accused of Making Ted Johnson Play With Concussion
It will be interesting to see how much this guy sues the team for because we know that where this is going. I just have a hard time believing that Belichick would force a guy to play after the Teams trainer said not to. If he did I'm sure we will hear from other former Pat players as this unfolds. If he is successful in sueing it could really change how teams do things.

One more reason to despise Belichick.

Re: Belichick Accused of Making Ted Johnson Play With Concussion
Man, the more I read about Belichick, the more of an ass he is.
|
Re: Belichick Accused of Making Ted Johnson Play With Concussion
His daughter applied for an internship with me. I wonder if we'll select her this spring. That'd be interesting
Anyhow, as I understand BB said he made a mistake and apologized about it. Of course, that may be too little too late |

And while I think he's probably a great coach, I still wonder where he would be without Tom Brady. A guy in Joe Montana or Steve Young's class can make a coach (even a good one) look good. |

I can’t agree more. If you ask me he’s overrated. I can’t wait to see what kind of coach he is with out his wonder boy QB Brady. He sure didn’t help Cleveland much. But then again who has? |
Re: Belichick Accused of Making Ted Johnson Play With Concussion
The genius who sold them to Baltimore. ;)

Re: Belichick Accused of Making Ted Johnson Play With Concussion
Basically, who can you not make that claim about. Take all the great players on a particular team and they all suck. He should also get some credit (if not all) for having and developing Brady.
take away Montana, Dwight Clark, Roger Craig, etc, Bill Walsh is ??????????? who? |

I suggested that Belichick might not look nearly as good without Brady. One of the principal reasons why Joe Gibbs is special, at least in my mind, is that he won the Super Bowl 3 times with 3 different QBs. That accomplishment should not be underestimated. I highly doubt Belichick could have won 3 super bowls without Brady. |
Re: Belichick Accused of Making Ted Johnson Play With Concussion
I know really. Give a coach Mark Rypien, or Timmy Smith and let's see if that guy can win anything....oh wait.

At least he didn't make him play with a cussion.

i could see belichek doing that. whether or not he did it, he has still shown his true colors this season, most apparent with the deal with mangini. the guys an ass

Not only did Belichick act like an ass at midfield with Mangini, he also made less than glowing remarks about him the press implying that Mangini was not necessarily fit to be a head coach. We're now seeing what reporters in the Boston area have known for quite some time - Belichick is an royal a-hole. |

The Patriots haven't had a good line? I know they're not the Hogs, but they've been no pushovers either. |

No kidding. I love the lynch mob mentality: Johnson said it, therefore it is a fact. I'm not saying the guy doesn't have a gripe, but let's wake up: coaches pushing players to come back too soon from injuries (of all sorts) has been a problem since guys were drawing paychecks from teams like the Providence Steamroller and the Rock Island Independents. I think people tend to look for a reason to hate Belichick because the Patriots have been the league's most consistant winner in an era where most teams are up and down like yo-yo's. Right now, he's the villian du jour. I'd just as soon wait until all the facts are on the table. |

But seriously, this whole thing is just another example of society and media manipulation. |

After the kickoff to the Super Bowl this will be all forgotten and next year stupid Boomer and all of the other Belichek worshippers will continue their worship of him.

I don't think they "worship" Belichick, but they do talk about him a lot because the Patriots are one of the league's most successful teams. The people who run ESPN aren't stupid. They know full well that talking about winners generates more interest than talking about losers. |

I know it is funny, but it annoyed me. I am glad the Patriots system of dropping every guy who wants a reasonable contract was exposed this year. I would love to see Brady hold out since he specifically signed a less lucrative contract so they could keep the team intact. |

Of course they have had a good line. You don't win one SuperBowl let alone 3 in 4 years without continuity, consistency and performance. This may piss some people off but their line was better than the Hogs. The Hogs never won 2 out of 4 let alone 3 out of four. |
Re: Belichick Accused of Making Ted Johnson Play With Concussion
Regardless of how many rings they won, I think the 1991 Hogs have to be considered one of the best lines in the history of the game. There were games where Rypien wasn't even breathed on.

A fourth AFC title appearance in six years isn't too shabby. Would they have been in the Super Bowl without some of those defections? It's impossible to say. Whatever one might think of the New England system, it has certainly produced more victories the last three years than the Gibbs II approach. |

I think a solid argument could be mounted that this was the best single season performance of any offensive line in the history of the game. |

Everyone in the media talks about the Cowboys huge O-line in the 90's. Where do they think they got that stroke of genius from? They were tired of being mauled by those great Hog O-lines the 'Skins had! I miss those days! Anyway back on the topic. If what Johnson is saying is true, whose fault is it? He should not have come back if he was still feeling the effects of the concussion. That's his fault! What a dumb ass! |
