Why can't we embed YouTube videos in posts?
 

Another suggestion by yours truly. Basically I think this forum should allow us to embed youtube videos in posts, kinda like how you can put an image in a post.

Most other forums using Vbulletin have this. Basically allows you to view Youtube video directly from the post rather than clicking on the YouTube link. Unless it is a big hassle, I think it might be a good idea.

no thanks. slower page loads and people thinking it's funny to stop by and post videos of their penis... see myspace for infinite examples on why it's not such a great idea.

Ditto what That Guy said. Our look here is relatively simple. But that's part of our value proposition. We're about the substance.

Well first of all you can get a emed for ONLY YouTube videos. So you will not see penis at all, if you see the link I sent I think it is only a YouTube one.

It is not like myspace because this will only be YouTube videos not personal ones. Also only reason I suggest this is because people post YouTube video links all the time in both the Parking Lot and Football related forums(highlights, etc).

I like the idea. There are so many links anyways in the SHFT that if someone wanted to post something profane it would have been done by now. Also it doesn't really hurt the look that much in my opinion. It gives it a nice touch. They would be videos that would play once someone clicked the play button.

IMO, there isn't much difference between embedding a video and creating a link. You have to click both for them to load...

While it's a good idea, I don't see it as one that is completely necessary.

This version changed up the end. [url=http://youtube.com/watch?v=9jWS9nccpYk]YouTube - turtle rape full and uncut[/url] Same thing till the end so you can skip through it. Its loud and doesn't sound good so maybe not safe for work but nothing actually bad.

I dont know about slower page loads, I don't think it would be to bad, probably around the same as a decent sized image.


However I do agree on the whole stupid video post, im sure that would happen.:laughing2

We got lots of newbs pulling this around here lately. A little time and they'll get the hang of it. Or the mods will indoctrinate them so they agree with them all the time.

Sweet, I think it is cool. I am glad you see what I was trying to say. Just because it is embedded doesnt mean people are gonna post kiddie porn lol. It is whatever YouTube vid you usually link up. THis just makes it easier. Funny thing is people were all over me when I suggested it. But everyone is entitled to their opinions, thats what makes this site cool unlike our buddies over there in Tampa Bay.

Dont think there is much you can do about that.

EDIT: You could probably try to bring up a court case to allow piracy and it would go to the Supreme Court, but good luck with that.

Did we also upgrade VBulletin? I notice there are new rules, like the filter, the minimun 7 character per post, or 60 secs between each post(which can get annoying). They have similar regulations at other forums, but never had it heard.
