Arenas is amazing

60 points agaisnt the Lakers, give him his props. Kinda pisses me off that Kobe is so full of himself he couldn't do the same. So he was making excuses as to why Gil totally destroyed him.

And damn cant the Wiz play consistently they are losing to the Nuggets right now, without Melo.

YOU GUYS ARE KILLING ME!!!!

horrible first quarter, nice comeback but not enough. u could tell they were exhausted from last nights game and to add to that they lost an hour flying, and at altitude...it adds up. u know the nuggets would be fired up, not suprised by the loss

kinda funny people r talking about how great a game he had against Kobe who got trashed last year for scoring 21 more points than arenas did in a non overtime game. I really wish there was someone with a logical explanation as to why so many people hate on kobe the basketball player.

I dont at all, I think he is an amazing player and I actually like him. It just pissed me off that he basically wasn't acknowledging that Gil out did him that game.

I think alot of people hate Kobe because he is good and he has a bit of an ego. But hey, who the hell doesnt? He is a pretty intelligent person too, like Arenas, which I like.

I like how Kobe is accusing him of taking bad shots, LOL.

I can't say enough about Arenas. He's just awesome. Mostly because he's a hard worker, and he's humble -- but also because he's a Wizard. I hope we never lose him, and I hope he can get a title in DC.

I also think it's cool that he gives away his jersey each game. He's a class act.

I wouldnt mind losing those hideous jerseys, what the hell was the organization thinking. Our jerseys look childish enough, way to make them look queer as well.

sure his dad was a former player of high regard in the italian leagues, but I fail to see how people could view he never earned anything when atheletic ability is never anything just given to someone, but earned through a lot of work. If he was a rich kid like the hilton's who have done nothing to earn their position in life other than to have been born, then I could understand that point of view. but as all of us who have followed professional sports for a while know, genetics never promises great atheletic ability ie Jared Payton, Eli Manning, among others.
Arenas is a damn good player even though he should have made atleast one of those damn free throws last year against cleveland. He has one of the smoothest jumpshot I've seen in a while.

Gil was on fire last night, dropping 54 points on teh Suns to end their 15 game winning streak. I have high hopes for the Wizards this season, i hope they can continue the way they are playing.

First of all, regardless of Gil's 60, look at Jamison and Butler and you have 2 guys who average > 20 a game each. So it's not like Gil is chucking like Kobe does, night in and out. You've got the highest trio of scorers in the NBA in DC, and Kobe has.... what, exactly? Right. Like Gil has said on more than one occasion... if he didn't have shooters like 'Tawn and Caron on the team, he would probably be taking 10-20 more shots a game. And making them.

Second, Kobe is arrogant, on and off the court, is a whiner, doesn't show respect to anybody else he plays against (even then they own him), and generally just acts like a spoiled child.

Third, I think most people still pretty much believe he's a rapist. Or at least your typical athlete who believes he is above the law and beyond reproach and the reach of the public who basically pay his salary.

He's just not a very likeable guy. Maybe he needs a new Nike commercial. I hated LeBron after last year's playoffs but "The LeBrons" has made me chuckle enough to reconsider.

He learned a lesson about icewater in the veins there, I think (hope). You could see it in his bizarre struggles in November this year, that when he gets worried about being the hero instead of just going out there knowing he's going to handle his business, he can be psyched out. Not that uncommon for a young guy. And people forget how young he is.

What's scary is he maybe hasn't even hit his prime yet.

Kobe takes more bad shots than probably any player in the league, except for maybe Iverson. I always hated Kobe back in the day, but started liking him a little once he became a villain and stopped doing McDonalds commercials and everything - but he is way off base here.

That's a really good point. It's also a reason Arenas should get some MVP votes. If I recall, when it was him, Jamison and Hughes, they were also the leading scoring trio in the NBA. Arenas scores, but he still plays point guard and keeps guys involved. That's very important for a scorer.

In Kobe's defense though, he's really only got Lamar Odom to play with. Bynum sucks, Kwame's not much better and Walton is just now coming on. There's not much around Kobe. I don't think much of Parker either. Still, I think he likes it that way.

I'll be sad to see "Hibachi!" go away, but the little dig at Kobe is great. I just hope Gil doesn't get too cocky. Being the silent, ice-cold assassin is so much more his style (and cool) than talking a lot of crap in the papers like Kobe does.

But see that is the thing with Gil. He plays his best when he is cocky and under adversity.

hey, he had 8 dimes last night... to go along 11 boards. that's a sick stat line for a primary scorer... remember, his job isn't to be a j-kidd-like point guard. he gets enough assists to keep everyone happy.

Hibachi!

Earlier in the season, when Arenas was playing poorly (for his standards), I convinced a guy in my fantasy league to trade him to me straight up for Carlos Boozer. I'm now leading the league in points thanks to Agent Zero.

I just went to the game last night against the Bulls and we rocked it without Arenas playing well. Stevenson looked really good that game, and I hope he can step it up when one of the Big Three are not playing well. We really need that.

Not only that but with Etan coming back and Blatche stepping up, the bench just got much deeper. Plus they're still waiting on Songaila to get healthy......this team can only get better.

Steve Nash was MVP the past two years and he is doing even better, so he will have to hit a lot more game winners and increase his stats to dethrone steve. or hope steve and lebron get hurt

Re: Arenas is amazing

I know...Nash had 21 ASSISTS in a game last week. He also scored like 42 once earlier in the year.

However, he does sit on the bench a lot and the Suns still run up the scoreboard without him, so it could be that Nash is just benefitting from a good offensive system. Seriously, they plug anyone into that lineup and still score 130+ points any given night.

Yes, Nash does help Stoudamire and Marion have big games every night, but Arenas does the same for Jamision and Butler, who both average near 20 pts/gm.

Arenas is definately more "valuable" than anyone else to their team...without him, the Bullets would be in major trouble and would have problems scoring 80 points.

Hopefully Nash doesn't win again this year. With Gil's breakout season, hopefully he'll win. I think he's the only guy who can beat Nash for the award. Iverson won't...his numbers should go down when Anthony is back. Anthony could've had a chance without getting suspended for 5 weeks. Lebron and Kobe aren't helping their teams win with their stats. Duncan's on the decline.

It almost has to be Nash or Arenas....but I think Arenas is the most VALUABLE player.

Yeah, Arenas is probably more valuable to his team -- but only because there is less talent on the Wizards than the Suns. Without regard to age (or character), I'd rather have Nash than Arenas.
