Perhaps Joe is laying down his usual subterfuge, deception, and skullduggery. If not, that really blows!

So what was the purpose of having him get as many reps as he did on Monday??
Why did Al think establishing a run game to not be important?
Gee- they could pay me 1/10 of what Al makes and Id get it done.

It's Duckett time.

Re: Portis Downgraded to Doubtful Against Dallas

I'm not sure if I believe this. The past two years we have had players unable to pratice but was ready for game day. They may have already been listed as douptful but they played. He is playing mind game with the Cowboys if you ask me. Read what Gibbs realy said in that article.

Asked if he was ruling Portis out for Sunday's game, Gibbs replied: "Well, I think if a guy doesn't practice, he's not going to play. So we'll downgrade him." Gibbs added: "He'll probably tell me that he can play on game day. But he didn't practice, so we'll move him down accordingly."

He's playing. No way he doesn't. Portis looked strong against Minny and will be good to go.

I agree! Gibb's is playing head games with the Tuna and Portis.
We are kind of a mess right now.
And then some...why wouldnt he play? Just because he didnt practice? We had guys do that all year last year and still play? I mean what are we even talking about...practice?? Not a game, not the game that Portis busts his ass for every week...were talkin about practice man...how silly is that...practice?

Seriously, if Portis says he can play, let him play and hold him out against Houston if you want. We're staring 0-2 right in the face, we need Clinton Portis in the game to make sure that dosent happen. Our offense is completley different with him in there, it was so much better Monday Night. I dont for one second think Duckett or Betts can do the job Portis can in there. Play him this week if he says he can go, and hold him out against the Texans.

we played him against minnisota, lost, and now we pay the price.

Re: Portis Downgraded to Doubtful Against Dallas

Sounds like the downgrade may be just a technicality more than anything. If a player doesn't practice he's downgraded. Simple as that. I still think we'll see him sunday night, but I'd like to see Duckett get some touches too.

Hopefully we can bring him in for garbage time to salt away the clock. ;)

Hate to say it but I think we can survive without Portis for a week or two.

I'd much rather have Springs or Prioleau back.

Agreed!

We have 2 legitamate starters we will be fine without Portis. I seriously doubt this a major concern for Parcells.

I think Joe is trying to motivate Clinton rather than trying to deceive the competition. Joe knows Clinton can tough it out. Just wants to see him back in practice. Clinton, however, is smart enough to smell what Joe is cooking up. Maybe a little like the TO/Tuna game.

Re: Portis Downgraded to Doubtful Against Dallas

I agree with MJG - I don't get why he was in there at all if he wasn't 100%. It's not like we're lacking for RBs right now, and if he can't go full tilt, then he's not that much better an option than the rest of the group. Plus, the risk of prolonging the injury is heightened.

what this means for all of you who don't understand this game is that you just became even more one dimensional than before. 4 FG's? Against the Vikings? Tsk tsk, gonna be a sad day in D.C. come Monday. When that weird albino monkey Williams tries to blitz the crap out of Bledsoe again like last time, we'll just keep dumping it over the middle to T.O. and let him do his thing.

and tell me genius, just what is this game you refer to? Did Parcells ever say T.O. wouldn't be playing? No, he didn't. So what the hell are you talking about? Get a clue.

wow, all JG kept saying was "he didn't practice, he didnt practice". he wasn't talking to reporters, he was talking to Clinton.

this is so disciplinary, its not even funny. looks like CP pulled a T.O. or something, he better charm the hell out of coach this weekend, cuz i'll say it over and over, Ladell is nooooo Clinton.

illdefined 09-15-2006 07:47 PM

Re: Portis Downgraded to Doubtful Against Dallas

haha, i just heard it again. JG said "its actually in a different spot" sounded totally facetious. like coach asked where it hurt so much for missing practice, and Clinton probably pointed to the wrong shoulder.

damn CP, we need you on the field, if that means the practice field then please do it!

Well, through all the pro and con I guess we won't really know whether he's going to play until gametime. I do know it's not going to be good if he dosen't play. I just don't think the respect is there for Betts like it is for Clinton. We haven't seen Duckett yet, but we're really going to need Portis to win this game. It's going to be tough with him, without him I really don't want to think about it.

And who says that you can't be successful with a G.E.D.

Williams didn't blitz Bledsoe in the first game and you guys were ill prepared. It is safe to say that T.O. will stick to the sidelines on Sunday night.

By the way, your offensive line is comical. People who understand the game realize that teams with poor offensive lines have poor seasons. That is what you would call a correlation.

Re: Portis Downgraded to Doubtful Against Dallas

with or without portis i still like our chances. but it all hinges on better secondary play, good pressure by the d-line, and getting at bledsoe early and often. The cowgirls didnt look overly good against the jags except for during the first quarter. The jags exposed the weak o-line they have. pressure bledsoe and he will throw interceptions. As i have said before the terrell owens implosion is only a matter of time. Hopefully he will forget to take his ridalin this weekend. BEAT DALLAS

A miniscule penis is nothing to joke about. I'd call it being reproductively challenged. The good news is that without scientific intervention, the process of evolution will prevent you from producing another generation of inferior-sized penis males and you will most likely be the last of your kind. A little bit of exercise and dexatrim goes a long way for curing the man-boobs issue and as for staring at other guys units in the bathroom, well, I guess if everyone else is bigger, then you've got a legitimate reason to stare.

Re: Portis Downgraded to Doubtful Against Dallas

Now on a more serious topic, it appears to me that if anything, coach Gibbs is simply laying down the law of the land so to speak: if you don't practice, you don't play. Doesn't matter if you're CP, LB, TJ or Rock. The reason doesn't matter either- whether you're hurt, not wanting to practice but physically able to, or figuring you're too good to practice with the rest of the team. As I recall, this has always been Gibbs 101. He has always stressed dedication to the team and practice before the game and it would appear to me that he is simply reinforcing that with downgrading CP, whether it is for medical or disciplinary reasons.

Don't you have better things to do? If I recall Dallas also LOST last week, and Bledsoe SUCKED. The coach doesn't even know how to throw a challenge flag properly. You're loving TO right now because you think he's the only real shot for Dallas to make it to the Supelbowl, which I think is pretty sad. You can't look at the whole team and think they can do it, but rather you rely on him alone to pull you through - pathetic. We'll see how that all pans out for the Cowgirls this season, as for now the Skins just need to do their thing. Any given Sunday. Now shut up go pray for the cowgirls!
