Skins bar in Boston?
I'm a skins fan from DC who is now going to school in Boston. Anyone know of any skins bars in the Newton, BC/BU area?

Re: Skins bar in Boston?
when I went to school in Boston here is where I use to go and watch the Skins:
home of the legendary SPORTS DEPOT The place is awesome and it's in Allston close to BU, you can take the T. Just get there early because it gets crowded, but totally worth it. |
Re: Skins bar in Boston?

Re: Skins bar in Boston?
I'm in nearby Providence R.I. Slim pickings, however Smokey Bones would be a good choice.

Re: Skins bar in Boston?
i'm up in the Portsmouth, NH area and i've been going to Ruby's in York, ME for the last few yrs. there's another Skins fan that shows up and i've seen a Jeep with a ME Skins license plate (Skins Fan?) and spare tire cover driving around York/Kittery...if someone wants to start a regular mtg. in the Boston area, i'd show up for some games (no nite games tho)..preferably someplace in Boston or just west or north of town.

Re: Skins bar in Boston?
Sports Depot is a good place to see a game, but it's not a "Redskins bar," per se. Nothing like the Patriots bar that is Murphy's in Alexandria.
Just found the board while oddly enough doing my own search for Skins bars in Boston. |
Redskins bars in Cambridge/Boston?
Anybody from or living in the Boston area know of any Skins bars? I'm living in Cambridge without a car, so the closer to here the better. Holla.

Re: Redskins bars in Cambridge/Boston?
The Sports Depot is now closed.
McFaddens (on State Street) has developed a a great place for Skins fans. Last weekend there were 20+ Skins fans and the back room is dedicated for Skins fans with sound and the big screen. Sometimes management even brings out free food, but always 10 cent wings! |

Re: Redskins bars in Cambridge/Boston?
pats fans can pity us all they want...i know a ton of bostonians and 2/3rds of 'em didn't even watch the pats until they started winning...IMO you're not a real fan of anything til you sit through the good AND the bad.

I've always lived in a skins town so I'm spoiled at the fact I just turn on the TV at game time and start drinking. |
Re: Redskins bars in Cambridge/Boston?
Hey Everyone,
I was behind the McFadden's viewing parties last year. They were pretty good to us for giving us our own room but they never really seemed into promoting themselves as a Redskins bar or in trying to help make us feel at home. We were approached by Goodbar Boston to become the official host bar for the 'Skins. They are offering us incredible food and drink specials, will be putting their staff in 'Skins gear and will be having some signs made up for in the bar. So, we're moving. Goodbar is about a 1 minute walk from McFadden's, so still in the same area. More information on the first game can be found by searching for Redskins Fans in Massachusetts on facebook. I'd post the link, but I'm a n00b. Hope to see you there! |
Re: Redskins bars in Cambridge/Boston?
This is turning out to be an awesome time. Just sent Goodbar "Hail to the Redskins" to play after we score as well.

Re: Skins bar in Boston?
Help us kick off a new season and a new home for Redskins fans in style!
Ever wanted to go to a bar in New England where the staff were in Skins gear, you were surrounded by your fellow fans, and they played Hail to the Redskins after every score? Well, you've found it. Goodbar Boston is the new home of the Redskins in New England. Bar specials will include: $2 high life drafts, buckets of high life's for $13, $3 PBR 16 oz cans, $5 mango, raspberry, margaritas, $5 sangrias, free chips and salsa. $3.95 food menu that includes mini burger and fries, 2 hot dogs with fries, loaded baked potato, BBQ chicken drumsticks and mini crab cakes, all $3.95! Even a pitcher and pizza for $14. Goodbar Boston is located right next to the Aquarium T stop on the Blue Line and is just a very short walk from State Street (Orange Line) and Government Center (Green Line). Street parking is usually easy to find on Sundays and Goodbar will also validate at the 75 State Street garage. |
Re: Skins bar in Boston?
Huge coincidence that two threads about Boston meetups would be started on the same evening. I merged the threads to consolidate the discussion. Good luck guys! It's gotta be tough being a Skins fan in Patriot country.

Re: Skins bar in Boston?
All the best to your gentlemen, we have a hard enough time being skins fans in our own are, I can only imagine what it's like in Pats country.
Keep it up though! |

Re: Skins bar in Boston?
Thanks! Yeah, but I think the drinks and atmosphere make up for it. :)
We had about 30 Skins fans turn out, which considering it was on national TV, was awesome. |
Re: Skins bar in Boston?
Keep us posted on how it turns out this week.

35 people there this week! This has been turning out better than I could have ever imagined. The Redskins have now added the bar to their "official" watch bars in foursquare as well. We'll see what kind of a turnout we get next Monday Night since it is on National TV. |
Re: Skins bar in Boston?
I will randomly be in Boston next Monday and will attempt to come out for it -- sounds rad.

Re: Skins bar in Boston?
I've been to this place too! Great atmosphere.

Re: Skins bar in Boston?
im located in maryland but i always wondered how crowds are towards other teams as ourselves redskins in other states. i know/seen for a fact that people that cheer for other teams here in the dmv can be pretty harsh. is it like that all around other states?

Re: Skins bar in Boston?
Greetings all. I posted in this thread a few years back, I think simply because I was bored at work. However, as luck will have it, I will be moving to Boston this fall to enjoy the RG3 era from the frozen tundra of New England.
I see that last year Goodbar was a great place for us Skins faithful to catch a game downtown. Food/drink specials aside, I'm especially impressed they played HTTR after every score...awesome! Anyways, any word on whether that will be the spot this year as well? My place will be a short metro ride from downtown, so if it's still Goodbar that'd be great...I'll be there every Sunday, not even a question. But if not, I'm still curious as to where the best place around town would be to catch a game amongst like-minded B&G enthusiasts. Lemme know...and HTTR! |
