Which pregame show do you watch?

This topic may be worthy of a poll.

Which one do you watch? Fox, CBS, or ESPN?

I try to watch NFL countdown on ESPN because they give you all the info on all the games, not just the ones that they will be televising like FOX and CBS.

What do you like about the show you watch? What do you not like about the shows you dont watch?

Re: Which pregame show do you watch?

I tend to flip back and forth between FOX and ESPN, and I almost never watch CBS. I guess I watch those two and not CBS because I'm more interested in the NFC info than anything else.

I love the Mayne Event segs on ESPN; those are always really funny. Also, like you said Gigity, I like the fact that ESPN covers all the games, especially for fantasy purposes. So I guess ESPN would get my vote.

I hate when they talk about TO/Palmer's leg/The Fatass Tuna/The Sex Boat/etc for extended periods of time though. Also, like Bill Simmons said a few years back, it seems like there are times when you can flip through all three channels and on everyone the guys are just laughing like idiots for like 5 mintues straight. That gets annoying.

Re: Which pregame show do you watch?

I totaly agree about them laughing like idiots for an eternity. Its almost like its an inside joke or something. CBS is the worst when it comes to that sort of thing.

Re: Which pregame show do you watch?

Although I tend to flip channels to catch snippets of everything, I think I would have to go with Fox. I like JB, Terry, and Howie, and Jimmie J. They have a really good crew in my opinion. I think they have really good chemistry, and I also think JB does a good job at commanding the show. He has the perfect demenor for that position.

ESPN, though informative I think Michael Irwin can be a loose cannon sometimes and has to be reeled in a tad bit.

CBS is good. I can take it or leave it.

Fox, for the weather girl!

ArtMonkDrillz 09-06-2006 02:29 PM

Re: Which pregame show do you watch?

JB isn't going to be on FOX anymore. They're going to have Joe Buck host and be their lead commentator, so the show will probably be on the road each week.
I can't remember if JB will be on CBS or NBC, but it's one of the two.

Shannon Sharpe's gigantic mouth is too distracting. It's like watching a Mr. Ed rerun or something.

Now that they're taking their studio show on the road it didn't work logistically to have a weather segment, so she was let go

Re: Which pregame show do you watch?

the main show i watch is the espn gang, but will also flip between that and fox. like them both about the same but espn has more coverage of all the leagues games. to bad about james brown, he is a skins fan from way back. and i agree about cbs, worst sports pre game by a mile. and the sharpe comment(mr ed) is hysterical

I have not. But the general consensus from my fellow employees is most wish he would just go away already. But you didn't hear that from me

ESPN and FOX here and then watch all the games on my NFL Sunday Ticket!

Re: Which pregame show do you watch?

My gripe about ESPN is that it's too long...they really don't go over enough to ward an 120 minute show.

I stick with FOX...but with JB going to CBS, I may have to flip back and forth.

Anything but FOX.

ESPN does the most in-depth job.

CBS is just kinda there, I really don't have anything against them but I don't find them particularly interesting.

Yeah, i'll go along with that.

Same here, CBS is sorta blah. You can guarantee that JB will help the ratings though.

ArtMonkDrillz 09-06-2006 04:55 PM

Re: Which pregame show do you watch?

I guess I'll watch CBS for a little bit if I forget to switch the channel back after a commercial, but Lord knows I won't be happy.

Re: Which pregame show do you watch?

I think CBS is not preferred due to mostly covering the AFC...at least that is why I don't watch it.

Beemnseven 09-06-2006 05:10 PM

Re: Which pregame show do you watch?

I'm with the consensus -- most of the time I'm watching ESPN, but during the commercials I'll switch over to FOX. If they're on a commercial too, then it's on to CBS.

If they're all on commercials then I get pissed off head for the fridge.

The one thing with FOX -- and they do this every year, and every year I complain about it -- is that during the game they will give us the endzone angle of plays. That irritates me to no end. It seems like they do it for most of the kick and punt returns.

They're just trying to be "edgy" or "artsy-fartsy" and I hate it.

Stop trying to be different, FOX. Just give us the traditional angle for every single play, all right? TAFKAS, make sure ESPN doesn't try that crap.

ESPN gets my vote too. Although I will flip to the others during commercials. I enjoyed watching Deon when he was on CBS because he was such a douchebag, I couldn't look away...like a car crash. Marino makes Robert Mitchum look lively.

With very few exceptions, for the past several years ESPN's pregame show is at its peak ratings wise between 11:45-12:15. Particularly from 12-12:15. But then after 12:15 the ratings drop. Not by a dramatic amount but they definitely drop. At the final quarter hour they are their worst. By this time most people have turned to the network that will be broadcasting their team's game. So yeah it probably runs at least a half hour too long. But it won't become a 1.5 hour show. Plus it's much easier to schedule the rest of the day with the program ending at the top of the hour.

FoxSports used to have a pregame show that run from 11am-12p EST. This was different from the FOX pregame show. This one was hosted by Chris Myers. I liked that one a lot, but no one knew about it so I think eventually they just scrapped it.

I actually kind of like CBS' show. If only because it's just football for the most part. Too often Fox feels like an audition tape for Bradshaw and his antics.

I pretty much watch ESPN but flip to whatever game th Skins are on to see what content they have on the Skins.

Don't expect TAFKAS to confirm but I have heard numerous times that basically nobody likes Berman and his over DONE act. There are several stories floating around about how he isn't the coolest of guy really. Google Chris Berman and leather pants. That's a funny one.
