Orien Harris
I foung out the Orien Harris has been released by the pittsbugh steelers. This guy can help us out immediately. He was probably release because of the 3-4 formation that pittsburgh uses. I think that we need to jump on this guy immediately because he is fast and quick with size at 6-2 298lbs. What do you guys think. It always helps that he is from the "u".

i dont know

Re: Orien Harris
he was released? serioulsy? lol, hes so much better than the shitty DTs that we drafted. The guy had the potential to be a 1st rounder. I was yelling at the TV on draft day hoping we picked him and we never did...
I agree, sign him, sign him, sign him. And start him next to C.Griffin |

Re: Orien Harris
get'em!
|
Re: Orien Harris
Just cause he is from Miami doesn't mean we should sign him. He had a few good seasons at Miami but remember he looked best with big Vince Wilfork at his side. He has alot of potential but that doesn't always equal NFL production...see William Joseph

Re: Orien Harris
I dont like rummaging through other teams garbage on the street or at the dump. Sure sometimes there are useable parts but why should we get him????
|
Re: Orien Harris
sign him to the practice squad (if pittsburgh doesnt)
|
Re: Orien Harris
He wasn't drafted high because of his reputation for being soft and taking too many plays off. The last thing we need is someone on the roster who isn't mean.
|
Re: Orien Harris
i say we sign him just to see if we can get some kinda pass rush
|
Re: Orien Harris
i say if he is from the U, he is worth the look. but not starting in front of my boy joey saleava

I think you are right his lack of speed at DE in the Steelers 3-4 seems to have set him back in having a team. However, this is a guy who heading into the combine was projected a 1st Rd. 23 pick who did nothing but drop in value to eventually be taken in the 4th round by the Steelers who recently just cut him. Something is fishy with this guy. I am not sold he could be a Williams type of guy. DE is also not a necessity for us. DT is which Harris would seem too small for and seems not right. |
Re: Orien Harris
d-a-u
DA U! he is promising, sign him to a low contract and see how he does. we need DT depth |
Re: Orien Harris
We need a blocking TE. Whats out there?

we should have kept buck ortega...hes definitly more of a pass catching TE, but having him, with cooley as a H-back with our receivers would be deadly. I dont know why we have Christian Furia... |
Re: Orien Harris
we need c griffith back in there. he's a beast and that makes looking at Orien Harris worth it to me. as long as cg is in there i think anyone will be a good fit beside him. hell if he's from the u he needs to get a look
cooley is a TE
Yes I know Cooley is a TE...but we usually play him in the h-back role. Cooley is such a great threat because he lines up as a blocker then goes in motion. Gibbs would probably prefer to have a block TE then another offensive threat...but as fans its more fun to have another great receiver out there |
Re: Orien Harris
cooley is a TE
Yeah, I worry about our running game without a blocking TE. Last year, we had Royal at least. The Royal, Cooley combination was marvelous. Players like Royal are a dime a dozen, it's just that we don't have any rostered.
Fauria CAN block, and so can Cooley, but neither is espicially good at it. Fauria is an excellent short range receiver. Thats his deal. Cooley does pretty much everything. I just hope that they go out and sign a blocking TE in the next week. Goalline will be interesting if they don't. Maybe theres a guy on defense who can play 2 ways? |
Re: Orien Harris
yeah, and his name is sean taylor
|
Re: Orien Harris
harris is on their practice squad, and buck ortega wouldn't have given us much. he can't block all that well and fauria is probably better catching. I would have prefered a 3rd TE to a 2nd FB, but it is what it is.

Re: Orien Harris
Yes, we got lucky with a couple of players from Miami, but that doesn't mean that everyone on the team is worth taking. Besides, the team that Santana and Clinton were on, was much better than last years or the year before's team. It sucks that we've gotten so many players recently that are from Miami, because it makes it harder to hate them. It was easier when Michael Irvin was their poster child.

Re: Orien Harris
back on topic, harris might be better than boschetti, but i really haven't seen enough of him to know. claiming that he could have been a 1st rounder really has no meaning though, cause charles rogers was a 1st rounder and taylor jacobs "should have been a first rounder" and leon washington, coming out of high school, was "a 1st round lock". things happens. looking back brady should have been a 1st round pick, but he wasn't even a starter, so how could you expect anyone to know?

Re: Orien Harris
our depth is pretty good considering. golston and montgomery will only improve the more they are in the system.

This is no longer Gibbs' offense. Al Saunders does not use a H-Back. Saunders used Gonzo primarily as a receiver until his OL started having depth problems. |
