The annual QB carousel
This has been an annual thing last few years as veteran qbs go from team to team, either by trade or free agency.
The draft really only has a couple of good QBs. Who do the Steelers keep? Wilson or Fields? Sam Darnold is going to get a nice payday somewhere. Daniel Jones, signed with Vikings but does he stay there or go elsewhere to try to rehab his career? Falcons probably should move on to Pennix. Cousins is done. Does Rodgers try to play somewhere in 25, after 2 bad years either Jets? Will the Browns just take pain now and move on from Watson? Winston is good enough as a bridge qb. Next year’s draft isn’t like this year’s and not every team can draft a qb; so veteran qb route is the way. At least a stop gap. People will be looking to replicate what Brady did with Bucs. |

Re: The annual QB carousel
Only thing for certain is Kirk Cousins agent should be in the HOF.
I'm a big KC fan but his contract is going to kill ATL with the Penix situation. |

Re: The annual QB carousel
Cousins would have to wave his no trade clause. Thing is, why would anyone trade for QB in decline. Just like Aaron Rodgers, he’s done.

Re: The annual QB carousel
It will be interesting what happens in the offseason with the vet qbs.
The draft isn’t a good one for qbs this year. The top 2 qbs this year would probably only be ranked 7th,8th in last years draft. You’ll probably see a couple of QBs drafted higher than they should Still, in a qb needy league ; there might be demand for those vets. Justin Fields, Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins and maybe even Aaron Rodgers will have a home somewhere in 25. The last 3, likely as a bridge qb. Sam Darnold will make the big 2nd tier money as a QB. |
Re: The annual QB carousel
I think Fields is done as a starter. I won't be surprised if Wilson is back with Steelers, just because their choices are limited.
Darnold likely will get a nice (not massive) contract somewhere else. |
Re: The annual QB carousel
It’s good for the nfl to have successful QBs. It will be great if the 24 class rivals or surpasses the famed 83 class.
Look at the afc, they currently have 4 great QBs in Mahomes, Allen, Jackson and Burrow. Nix and Maye could join that club over time. In the NFC, we really didn’t have that. We have a couple of good teams, Eagles and 49ers before this year but Purdy and Hurts aren’t on that same level. Golf & Love definitely aren’t on that level. Unknown what McCarthy, Pennix, Williams will become. In one year, Daniels is already on that level. I hope all those rookie QBs of 24 are successful. Daniels and the NFC needs a qb to battle. We need our own Young-Aikman, Brady-Manning. Williams seems the most likely. Imagine Jayden and Caleb battling every year, for the right to go to the Superbowl. |
Re: The annual QB carousel
Bit soon to write off Love, but Goff has a ceiling. Williams certainly has some talent, but while coaching has to be considered a factor, he didn't demonstrate anywhere near JD's level. I can see JD being teh best young QB in teh league for years, and possibly the #1, as long as AP can keep him surrounded with good, if not top talent. It's more likely to be JD v Mahomes than JD vs any NFC QB for the near future at least.

Re: The annual QB carousel
I think Cousins should get one more year somewhere to see if he is able to play still. The Achilles injury could have been (and still could be) career ending to the point that he is not able to do what was once his strong suit - Roll outs, play action, extending plays with his legs.
Except for his very first bad game on week one, he looked pretty good up until it seemed like he was totally out of gas in the last part of the season. As a layman, I think he had to put 100% of everything on his arm because he couldn't / didn't trust his legs because he was still dealing with the Achilles healing. He came back within a year but I think a total Achilles recovery was always 12 - 16 months. He might still retire, I honestly do not know. |
Re: The annual QB carousel
Rodgers has been told he’s being cut, with June 1 designation.
So he’s a free agent. Can’t see to many teams having interest in him. |

With that offensive line? I doubt it. I suspect he may be done. Good. Arrogant diva. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
