I don't understand why the Jets don't call Wentz. He is better than Wilson and the guy they just bought in.
Kaepernick wrote an impressive letter lobbying to be the practice squad qb. Denied. Saleh seems loyal to Wilson this year. Noticed there was some contentious behavior between some of the Jets on the sideline last game. Saleh cannot being having fun now. Broncos fans are thrilled not to have Hackett, and they are still a weak 0-3.

They both suck!! I would not sign Wentz, obviously no one has for a reason. |
I see no point in turning to JB until we know for sure Sam isn’t the guy.
Agree 100%. I'd give him the full season unless he bombs out, which I highly doubt. His potential factor is way higher than Brissett who didn't impress in the preseason anyway. Still think Rivera is gone after this season.

Even at that point it would be foolish to go with JB. If Howell stinks it up it means we're done for playoff contention and Brisset would only hurt the future if he wins a few games. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Im calling it now. Jets vs Commanders in the Super Bowl. Wentz vs JB. Gonna be an absolute shoot out. 73-72 Commanders. JB wins MVP.

That play was ugly as fuck w/ the screenshot. Everyone all smushed on top of each other. Good luck Sam! I'm hoping there was some player(s) error on that one. |

I agree with you but the coaching staff doesn’t. They don’t survive a 5 or 6 win season. |

They don’t survive a 5 or 6 win season.
I think they need to win more than that to get another year. 9 at the minimum |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
It's easy to sack a coach that's made the playoffs once in his tenure, and not come close in his next 3 years. Harder if he does it again this year, especially if we get at least 1 playoff win. I say it doesn't matter how many wins we get, unless we make the playoffs and don't get hammered in the first game, RR is gone.
I don't think SH is on a short leash, though that will change if he falls apart by mid-season, which i doubt he does. Plus I doubt anyone on this staff sees JB as a future starter. Swapping to him at any point except injury smells of desperation and that's as good as a nail in RRs coffin. He's hitched his wagon to SH for richer or poorer, and i think he sticks with him barring disaster. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
I hope the new ownership stays out of the decisions about who plays. If they do, then I do see a scenario where JB takes over at some point, if SH struggles or is not making any progress.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
I am impressed how Howell bounced back today, after last week. He was by no means perfect, but he played way way better. Can't be anything but a good sign.
|
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Sam Howell today showed what he’s all about. After his worst game as a pro last week, he rebounded and had a pretty good game, just when everybody thought the game was over, Sam throws a bullet to Dotson to take the game to OT, during the OT he threw a great pass and catch to Terry however the refs didn’t see it that way (his foot was barely in). If you think Sam is NOT the real deal after today then get some glasses. The kid is a gamer with heart, it feels good to finally have a legit QB.

Good Read on Sam
Are you believing now? Like I said he will be our best QB since Joe T. better than Doug Williams, Rypien, Brad Johnson, Cousins, etc. This kid has star potential, he showed it against the eagles. |

He played well. He's got a good arm/accuracy and can run. Size isn't huge but enough to make it work. His performance v. Eagles made be a believer. Eager to see a repeat tonight.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Sam absolutely positively needs to be more decisive but i still 100 percent see enough that I feel good about the quarterback position. Happy with the quarterback position. Snyder sold the team. We are close.

Fixed it for you. ;) |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Sam is not perfect but he's also young... He's literally played 6 games total. He is on pace for over 4000 yards passing and 25 TDs.. That's pretty damn good
|
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
I like Sam. To take the beating he has taken (some of it self-inflicted), and still keep the offense competitive has been somewhat impressive for such a young QB. He's gonna get hurt eventually though.
|
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Some of the throws he makes are BIG TIME.. But then some are off, he's kinda like a Baker Mayfield TBH.

PFF Commanders
@PFF_Washington · 5m Washington called 55 consecutive pass plays without a run from early in the second quarter until the end of the game, the longest passing streak in the PFF era 😳 🧪 |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Yeah, I'm not sold on EB at all. Is he better than S Turner, yeah...but Charlie Brown would have been better that S Turner. All this talk about him replacing Ron...first things first...show me you can build an offense, develop a young QB, and come up with an effective game plan on a consistent basis - then we'll talk.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
I think EB has been good, he is very pass happy though which is not a surprise to any if you watched KC over the years

You can't run this kind of offense. Stop. |

They scored a total of 3 points in the first half and gained 80 yards. They were almost as bad as the defense. |

I think that Scott Turner was so bad last year that having a coach who makes the players work hard and makes adjustments mid game seems like some sort of revelation, so people are overrating EB quite a bit. Robinson got a grand total of 6 carries in last nights game, I know it is a passing league but the opposition still need to respect the threat of a run game to stop them pinning their ears back and teeing off on our OL. And don't get me started on running out of shotgun, only works if it comes as a surprise, not when you do it every time. So much for Rons assertion that we would be a run first team, that went by the wayside pretty quick, much like all of Rons plans. |

I've been questioning Bieneimy since Week 1, and my stance hasn't changed. Would EB be better than Rivera? I think a mannequin might be better than Rivera at this juncture, so that's not saying much. Bieneimy has a long way to go before I'm impressed. He's infatuated with the pistol formation and the empty backfield. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
EB doesn't bother me too much when looking at all the games, overall, the offense is probably over performing given how horrendous the OL is (complete lack of talent there which I primarily blame Ron for). Additionally, it is refreshing to see in game adjustments again after so many years.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Lot of excuses for Howell. Kid can read defenses and can’t anticipate open receivers.
He’s shittier than fields. Garbage time stat man. |
