Re: Official New Era - Week 1 vs. Bucs Gameday Thread
Run the ball more? we had 30 rushing attempts to 24 pass attempts. In this league that's positively run heavy. The running game alone can't sustain drives, we must be able to pass (and downfield at that), and for that the OL have to provide protection. Seems to me the coaches are calling a game based on capability not desire, so we can't expect miracles. Daniels will improve, and I'll take the positive that overall we averaged more than 4 years per carry and no turnovers. We knew the D wasn't going to be much improved; if Ron hadn't blown pretty much every draft pick in the last 3 years, Peters and Quinn would probably have had more of a foundation. As a coach I'd be pretty harsh to criticise that defence when only there are no more than 6 players that would start on any other team.

I really think that game started with a very limited game play for game 1. Training wheels!! I personally wish they would have played the starters more in the preseason. As the game went on i thought the o-line started to play a little better and JD started to be a little more calm and less jittery. We have to remember that this is basically an expansion franchise right now. EVERYTHING is new for everyone. It will take time to see what this team is really made of as right now they are all trying to figure each other out. |

7 of those runs were scrambles by Daniels when he couldn't find anyone open so it's closer to 23 runs and 33 passes including the 2 sacks. |

Same old same old as previously said. Hope we beat the giants next week. They looked bad yesterday... but again, we are everyone's favorite fuckin bounce back opponent.
