Bates may be the best blocking TE in the NFL and that's not an exaggeration on my part.
Love hearing this. Kid is a weapon for sure. He did have a drop on Sunday but still think he can be a receiving threat also. Having a tight end that can block is super valuable to an offense.

Certainly the best blocking TE we have had in some time that I can remember.

The biggest take away for me, Wentz is head and shoulders above anything we have had since Cousins at QB.

Was it a A+ performance? Certainly not, but I thought Wentz was better than Russel Wilson, Dak, Burrow, Baker, and Carr this past weekend…and obviously T. Lawrence.

Wentz delivered in the 4th quarter and that matters most. The TD throws in he 4th were big time…while I love the dime to Terry, the read and throw to J Dot was impressive. 3rd down, one on one coverage and placed it perfect.

My biggest negative…I can’t believe how bad Ron and Mayhew have been in addressing the CB and LB position on the team.

Will Jackson is terrible, why do we take man skills CB and then put him in a scheme that doesn’t fit his skill set? It’s egregious. Is St Jus a nickel corner? Don’t think he is, he looks like a boundary corner.

LB had been discussed, but my god Davis is a bust. Holcomb isn’t a middle or interior LB. It’s a mess here.

This is going to bite us.

Yop. Any armchair GM could anticipate it this offseason, and it showed even in this thrilling win.

Agree also with your post about Wentz. Not perfect, some ugly mistakes, but the guy delivered when it mattered. We can't be "the only stats that matters is wins and losses, a QB needs to be clutch when his team needs him to" (ie with Kirk) and then nit pick "yeah Wentz delivered in the 4th and gave us a come from behind win but it wasn't pretty during the entirety of the 60 minutes".
It's fair to say "be ready for some heart crushing moments" though.

Almost as money drawing the Jags offsides to seal the game. I think everyone knew the hard count was coming and he still got it done.

Davis reminds me of Apke. They drafted him cause of his physical skills but is he a good football player? Obviously being a NFL LB requires that you must cover. He simply can't do it. He may have straight line speed but not coverage or ball skills.

I think what bothers me about the Wentz discussion coming into this season is folks seem so sure that someone like Ryan Tannahill is better than Wentz.

Like do you see Kyler Murray making both those reads and throws in the 4th? I don’t and he just signed a massive deal.

Look, there are only a handful of QB who can carry a team on its back. We have a lot of information these days…maybe too much…but the distance from Cousins to Wentz isn’t far at all. Scheme and personal does matter. So these heartbreaks are being committed by Wentz, but also Dak.

We were also playing the absolute worst team in the NFL that has had the number one pick in the draft for two straight years. Barely beat them at home.

Idk about Wentz, if this was pretty much any other team that was a loss and the narrative is totally different today. But I do give him major credit on those last two drives. He almost lost the game all by himself and then won it with some big boy throws in the 4th q and that is all that matters.

But Jags had a chance to win and this is the NFL. Jags looked prepared and ready to play…didn’t they?

The Wentz stats were good, but he willed that victory along with big plays by our receivers.

As fans of some bad QB play in D.C., why not give Wentz a clean slate here?

I don't think we can say Jax is the worst team in the league anymore. IMO I doubt they are the worst team in their division. I am actually glad we played them earlier in the season, once Pederson gets rolling with his personnel I think they are going to be a tough out, maybe like Detroit last year.

This is 100% accurate in my opinion. You can say the Jaguars were one of the worst teams in the league last year, but that was not an accurate assessment before week 1 of the 2022 season, and it's not an accurate assessment after week 1 of the 2022 season.

Also, CW did not almost lose the game all by himself. Yes he had two interceptions, but he didn't fumble the ball or drop any passes, and he didn't play defense.

It was a team win. Playmakers made plays, O-line did their job, QB was clutch, special teams was pretty good, and the defense made stops when they needed to down the stretch - forcing a 3 and out, and getting the game-sealing INT.
