This isn't going to be much of a weekend for me. I'm refereeing a JV wrestling tournament all day tomorrow, then a kid's league tournament all day Sunday. Between refing and my normal job I'm going to have two days off in February.

This Friday started off shitty. Came into work with the whole medical campus (including clinics) VoIP and network down. Apparently the rains flooded some manhole and cause water to leak into a mechanical room that housed our power and backup generator. Needless to say, glad it isn't my ass.

I'm going to finally start filling out the paper work to build a pier on out lot and its around 30 pages long.

T-1 or T-3 - none of that is in there rite? Its just an issue for the power company? Does voip even run off a T-1? Sounds like a headache.

This is strictly a power issue, nothing equipment related. VoIP can run over a T1 line, but we are a major university so our needs are a bit greater. We have a OC12 with a 10g core backbone.

I figured a t-1 wouldnt cut it. Lol. I used to work for a telecom co. I was on the sales side but on slow days i sometimes helped the phone companies troubleshoot problems- more just as a coordinator between the users, phone company and our IT guys. Never hands on in case you couldnt tell. Lol. I know eventually a T-3 would go in if we got enough lines somewhere but that thing you are talking about sounds like a serious piece of machinery. Way beyond anything i would ever be allowed to even talk about let alone handle. Lol. Glad it wasnt on you!
