Re: Randy Moss = no class
My best guess is Belichek has a very strict media policy. In fact, I'm 95% sure he won't even let his assistant coaches talk tot he media. That's a team thing. I guess it's hard to stay gracious when you have people trying to talk to you every minute of every day. I'd love to say I'd have a better attitiude, but catch me on the wrong day and Im sure I'd react the same, if not worse than Moss.

I'd take a WR with a little less class if he could produce number like Moss.

From BB "We may have more players on regularly scheduled radio, internet, and TV shows during the week than any other team in the NFL. I meet with the media six times per week, in addition to a weekly post-game radio show, pre-game radio show and mid-week TV show. And all through the spring, we make players available to the media. There is no shortage of ways for fans to connect with the Patriots." |
Re: Randy Moss = no class
This has evolved into a great thread. Interesting to say the least. But I'm starting to take issue with Moss constantly being demonized because he cursed at a reporter/journalist. First of all, we all know Moss' reputation so it seems somewhat convenient, to an extent unprofessional, to take a public shot at Moss knowing the perception that already exists. Secondly, Moss never got to defend himself. We only know what Tanner wrote. Did Moss just receive a bad phone call from home that soured his mood? Was his back bothering him? Let's be clear, cursing isn't acceptable, but it seems we're jumping to conclusions based on one side of the story.
Of all the asshole things Moss has been accused of, he keeps his nose clean during the offseason and he can stick the damn ball in the endzone. That's all I care about as football fan. You know, which reporter got his feathers ruffled in the locker room by Randy Moss comes off as petty and immature. But that's just me. And as someone else stated earlier, I do all my bitching here on Warpath. |

Exactly. I mean Mr. Haynesworth has a history of doing worse things than Randy Moss. I don't remember Randy Moss stomping on someone's face. Yet when he planted Brady into the ground Fri. night I don't think anyone was thinking about Andre Gurode's poor little forehead that needed stitches. lol. |
Re: Randy Moss = no class
I think Tanners biggest mistake was just not realizing beforehand how big an a**hole Moss really is and then reporting on it just came across the wrong way to some people. I personally have no problem with calling Moss an a**hole.

Same here, in fact the speech sounded like a way to justify limiting access to players, by stressing all the time they do make them available. Even the phrase "make them available" has a certain implication that at other times, they are NOT available. |

If Tanner wants to only interview those who are always accommodating and have good manners then I would suggest he think twice about entering professional locker rooms. And maybe saying a local sports blog would work better instead of saying I work for Chris Cooley. You know, the guy you were just playing against. |

Well maybe we ought to tar and feather him. |
All of you guys bashing Randy Moss crack me up. He's been nothing but a leader on NE's team. If we make the trade to Oakland and he's wearing burgundy and gold, catches 20+ TD's in one season, takes JC's game to the next level, all of you would be sniffing his jock. Amazing.
How has he been a leader? Phenomenal player, yes. But leader? |
Re: Randy Moss = no class
I can understand where Tanner is coming from. It's not so much that Moss said no but it's the way that he said no. Seriously though you guys, if that was Clinton Portis who treated someone like that he'd get ripped for about a good 75 pages here. So Moss saying no would be one thing but the way that he went at Tanner was a lil messed up to me.

I really don't care if its Moss or Portis the guy is not even a reporter and just doing a blog for hi brother who just burned them for over 75 yards. If Portis did this I'd ask why the guy was even in the locker room. |

Exactly. People are putting this in the context of a normal reporter approaching Moss for an interview. This is the brother of the dude that just dusted your secondary, and did it quite well I might add. It's the perception here the undermines his motive a bit. Anyway, did Shawn Springs get on the field for the Pats? I almost forgot he's playing for them now. |
