Oh no! 53! It's okay man, it will end up being for the good of the team. No one will have anything bad to say about Marcus. It's a bummer to see him go for sure.

Will you buy his new jersey for whatever team he ends up playing for?
Who knows, maybe he will retire. He just might say screw it. After all, he is getting up there, and has become injury prone.

I doubt he'll retire at 31 Gus. And I don't know if he's anymore injury prone than Griff or Springs or Tana for that matter. He's had 2 years with bad hammys, hip flexors, not real serious stuff. Anyway I'm letting it go for awhile. But he might want to follow Tana's lead and not work out so hard during the offseason. Last offseason is the first time in Tana's career he took it pretty easy during the offseason and he stayed pretty much injury free last year. Where you been anyhow? Vacation or with that playmate?

I hate to say this, but the guy has lost a step just like when Trotter came here.

I agree he's lost a step. Of course it's easy to lose a step when you're having trouble with your hammy. But I don't think we have anyone better. And I still think he's capable of playing at a high level. Trotter was a whole 'nother story. Philly knew how to use him, we did'nt. He went back to Philly and did pretty well for a couple of years.

It's been said before but I'd bet my money on a reunion with GW in New Orleans.

I agree Dirtbag. I think GW would love to have him.

Have been thinking the same but actually believe Marcus will see more success in the inside of a 3-4 system. It's pretty clear he's lost some top end speed which makes him a liability in the 4-3 as an OLB... hard to be effective in coverage and chasing speed backs around the corner etc. But Marcus has the size and definitely the strength to hold the middle in the 3-4 scheme, in which he doesn't have to cover near the territory, and I bet he has the smarts to make the transition too. Pretty curious to see what he does now.

... I would f'ing hate to see him in Dallas. The only team that runs a 3-4 defense I have any liking for is SanFran (on a little side note) so maybe Marcus should go play for Singletary.

12/18/08 Greg Blache on Marcus Washington returning to the line-up: "Marcus is such a big and physical player. Besides his enthusiasm, the fire that he brings and his passion for the game, he is such a big, physical player. When you get into some of those drives at the end of the ballgame, it's good to have that big physical force on the edge to be able to step up and take guards on. Plus he is an experienced guy who's been around the block a long time. You lose a lot when you lose Marcus. Not to take anything away from the guys who stepped in and competed for us, but a Marcus is a Marcus. He is a cut above and a little different then the rest and it's great to have him back." I'll leave it at that. Thanks Marcus. You made watching my team a lot more fun. Good luck buddy.

I don't think Trotter lost a step when he came here. The Skins brought him here with no idea of how to use him in a defense. They saw him shine on the eagles and just figured he'd pick up and do the same here. How do you explain him being useless when he came here, getting cut and going back to the eagles to start and maintain his position again?

I hate to say it but, Andy Reid actually knows what he's doing when he acquires and implements players.

It is obvious though that Washington isn't the same player he was when he got here. I think its mostly due to him becoming more injury prone because he plays solid when he's healthy.
