Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
I'm really saddened because we are sort of going into a hard stretch of games now. Very real chance we win only 1 or 2 more of them, and that is if all things go well.
I believed at the beginning of the season that with changing the QB, we would finally have a winning season again. But we might have a chance if we can go 8-8 to sneak in the playoffs.... |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
IDK what to think of Jay and McVay. On one hand I feel we need continuity cause changing coaches, every other year does not work. On the other hand the predictability of the offense and the lack of deep passes is just ridiculous.

Garçon has been solid but Djax out all yr basically hurt us and also the run game has vanished. They appear to be getting better but until they win consistently it'll be hard to believe in this Franchise. I still say 6-10 will be our record maybe 7-9 if we upset the giants or something. |

Gotta love Ricky Jean Francois, he's 100% right:
Redskins defensive end Ricky Jean Francois doesn’t mince words. “We just didn’t execute. It was like we were out there and you feel like we were just playing scout team for this team… I don’t want to keep going through each and every damn week like... something has to be fixed now because it’s the second half of the season. In November and December you have to start racking up wins.” |

Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
I just thumbed through some of the comments on here.. Who the hell did you guys think we were playing this week? 27-10 was closer than almost anyone would've expected. Some of you are delusional. I saw chunks of play that impressed me but to think that we have any right to be upset that the Redskins lost to the Patriots is a joke. Could we have won? yes.. but it would've taken everything going just right. We're headed in the right direction. We will get there. Some of you need to accept the fact that willpower and hope won't win you games against the best in the league. There were positives to take from this game. Hold your damn heads up and quit pissing about how we weren't good enough to beat a team that has dominated 30 other teams for 15 years..

Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
^ agreed, yesterday doesn't change anything, basically both teams are who we thought they were.

Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
Changes my opinion of us for the better. I just keep going back to three plays (though if I throw in Garcons miscues there are 19 more). First play i cannot get out of my head is Carriers drop. Man he was going to run for a while and it was just such a crucial part of the game. Second play was the onsides kick. Ill be honest - i blinked and missed it. Damn that was unexpected. That was just a huge swing. Huge. Last was the complete disaster by Culliver. We pressured Brady into throwing a lame duck, the God damned ball hung in the air FOREVER! If anything it should have just been batted around. When I saw it coming down n Culliver was no where to be found i was literally in shock - I think I still am. To me that was when things got out of hand. It put them from a punting situation to a scoring one and that was it.
We made a handful of other miscues but those three plays could have changed everything. None of those plays were due to "we arent in their league yet" or any of that stuff. Now I know that as a team we are not the Pats yet. I know they were supposed to beat us. BUT imo all three of those things could have gone the other way. Grant is capable of corralling that kick. Carrier is capable of catching a fucking football. Culliver is capable of not being a complete moron on third and long and stepping in front of an up for grabs throw that he had all day on. Of course because of who they are and who we are 27-10 is expected but those three stupid things change that score big time. Im strangely confident in this team rite now because we were that close imo. |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
OK, we lost to a better team. No big deal.
But here's what I can't understand: How could so many receivers drop so many passes that were so catchable? |

Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
It's not that we lost to a better team. It's how they lost. Didn't realize that they had a TE playing RT. They were real beat up on the o-line and Brady was barely touched. Plus they ran all over us. That tells me our players on defense are shit. Particularly on the front 7.
As far as offense goes...I'm beginning to believe that Gruden isn't capable of running an NFL offense. He can put plays together but that's it. He can't keep a defense off balance. Or change the tempo or exploit the other teams weakness. For instance, we all knew they were going to shit in Riley. And sure enough they split him out wide he was beat by their 3rd string rb and should have been beat for another by Lewis. Why aren't we doing the same thing to their ILB's who are both slow run stoppers? Why wasn't Thompson doing the same thing as Boldin and Lewis? Instead they run Morris into the pile for 0 yards and watch Jones drop passes and fumble. |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
Am I the only one who believes we should cut ties with Pierre Garcon...? He's just too INCONSISTENT! Like I seen in a comment on CsnWashington.com, he can show up one second and disappear for the entire game. We do not have WRs that will scare any defense. Jordan Reed may be the only exception.
The O-Line is weak. How come we cant build a line that does a decent job of run AND pass blocking. At first we were only a good run blocking team now the script has flipped. We're protecting the hell outta of Cousins but cant open up holes for Morris and Jones! Flat out pathetic..... but hey I completely understand that Scott M. cant fix this pathetic team in one season so I will remain patient. ..Sean Payton anyone.......? |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
Well to me if you can't run the ball and open holes, but are good in pass pro, then common sense says you should become more of a passing team.

Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
i have to admit I didn't watch, went out and worked in the garage listening on the radio. The Patriots are too good and I knew they would make the Redskins look real bad.

Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
Here are the phrases I am sick of hearing:
"He did some good things." "Each play is its own entity." "Each interception is its own entity. " "They're out there competing. " "We have to do a better job executing. We have to do a better job coaching." Sick of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
I should add that what disappoints me about yesterday's loss was our complete inability to earn any respect. I've played on teams going up against much better opponents with no real prospects of winning. Our coaches emphasized hustle, hitting people, and earning respect so at the end of the game, at least you've made the better team earn it. Didn't see any hint of that yesterday.

The offense looked terrible. I still think the defense did a decent job. What the defense did would have seen relevant if the offense actually did something earlier in the game. By the way, I'd be curious to know what is our total number of points off turnovers. We had two turnovers in the first half and only managed to come up with a meager three points. |

For those who say they were positives...can you name one? I saw really zero from both sides of the ball. I think Jay showed alot incompetence coming off the bye. |

Kind of hard to get in any sort of rhythm that way. The short to medium passing game has been our bread and butter lately. KC looked very good, and the pass pro was stellar? I wouldnt call that terrible I would call it sloppy hands. The defense did a decent job except that they gave up 300 yards through the air and 161 on the ground to the tune of 4.4 ypc!!! Im not sure we watched the same game on Sunday. Those two turnovers that resulted in three points were both drives that were ended with dropped passes. |

Its almost half of our possessions. How in thee hell is that incompetent on J's part? Our pass pro was stellar - KC had all day, and played exceptionally well. You simply cannot give up plays due to drops against a team like the Pats. A couple drops in a game is normal. 8 is bizzaro. It will change the outcome of a game. |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
Kirk was real good, he came to play. His receivers really let him down today - early and often. Like Jay said, a lot of 'nerves'. I think they knew they had to play a perfect game and it got in their head. In my opinion, Crowder is the only receiver that came to play today...
The O-line was real good in pass protection, still unable to get the running game going, but when you find yourself down by 17 points - the running game mostly takes a back seat so it's hard to judge if any progress was made on that front. Still can't stop the run, but for the most part I thought the D played pretty decent given how beat up they are, guys coming off of and playing with injuries. That moon ball put up by Brady - I couldn't believe that ended up a completion. Aside from that real bad play, they held the Patriots to field goals a couple times, and held them to their lowest point total so far this season, so I'm encouraged by that. I didn't expect them to win. I wasn't going to be THAT surprised if they pulled out an upset, but the fact that they didn't, doesn't change my opinion of the team. Despite the 17 point loss to the Champs, I think this team is still on the way up. The silver lining to me is this was a loss to an AFC team. The team has only lost two NFC games, and still have four division games to go. Not saying that it will happen, but they still have the opportunity to go 5-1 in the division. Bottom line - put this one behind you, go take care of NO, and start to build some momentum for the stretch run. |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
Kirk and the O-line (pass protection only) were bright spots -- nothing else. On the sack that they got of cousins, Moses literally fell asleep -- I think the DE nearly had his hands on Cousins before Moses got out of his stance. It was like Albert Haynesworth flaccid. Very odd because he otherwise had an excellent game (and has been one of the nicer surprises this season).
It concerns me that the team was so flat after the bye week. Seems inexplicable to me when you're playing the world champs -- usually, teams have that game circled on the schedule and want to make a statement. I'd rather not think about the statement that the lackluster performance yesterday represents. Still, I'd rather be us than the 2-6 Cowpukes! That would be true regardless of the record, and I know that the Eagles losing would have been better for us, but given that I think there's no real chance we make the playoffs (insert your Coach Mora .gif file here), I'd like to see Dallas lose no matter what. |

They have been getting slit open like a fish on the run now for several weeks in a row. The Pats have a make shift line, no reason to get gutted on the run like that. Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
Perry Riley needs to ride the pine.... Zero tackles for an ILB on a 3-4 defense!!!

Compton led the team with 10 tackles, while Riley failed to record a tackle in 49 snaps. Robinson caught just the second interception thrown by Patriots quarterback Tom Brady this season. Washington conceded 460 total yards, allowing 6.1 yards per play. |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
Kurt looked good, or at least potentially, we'll never know where those dropped passes could have led those drives....
But here is what bothers me the most: whoever was leading the convoy on the Robinson int, didn't knock Brady into the nose bleed seats. I think that could have been a pick 6 and game changer. |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
I'm not surprised that we lost to the best team in football, who have probably the best QB of all time. Kirk really played well, and I'm not that much of a KC fan. The OL gave him time. The many drops were just gross, I mean one of them was a 50 yard play. The Patriots are just at a level that is far above us at this time. But we didn't get crushed either like the Pats have been doing to other teams this year.
I think the coaches set up some plays well, it was the players (WR) who let them down. Strangely I think the team is definitely better than last year and McLovin' is bringing in good players. But we're probably two years from the hunt and we need a franchise QB to help get us there. |
