Well, I was the first to suggest Briles.

Hopefully it happens.
Please no. That would be the worst thing to happen to the Redskins for 3 reasons:

1. There's NOTHING to indicate he's prepared for or has the structure for being an NFL coach.

2. We've been down this road before with Spurrier and college coaches with no pro experience need a strong organization around them, which we seriously lack.

3. He immediately undermines RG3 as a leader in the locker room. RG becomes the coaches pet and there won't be many who trust that he won't have torn loyalty.

skinsfaninok 12-08-2013 11:47 PM

Also he's not going to be coaching against Texas tech and Iowa state either .

And finally I don't want the RO offense anymore

Yeah! Remember when Snyder couldn't run him out of town fast enough? Turned out the blessing happened for JC. Bet he's on his knees, everyday, thankful he's far away from this shitshow.

Because of that, it isn't particularly important to avoid a situation where the locker room perceives RG3 as a coaches pet. If Briles comes here, it's to build around him and RG3, not to try to fit the current talent to his philosophy.
Singletary is a Baylor grad but Briles aint coming. He just signed a nice contract and hes got a great thing going down here.
I'm sure others know better then me to include you but ... Just because he signed a new deal really doesn't mean jack. It's rumored the college made the deal to shut up all the questions of him leaving for the Skins. No matter what most coaches have clauses written into their contracts that allow for them to leave for the pros with out penalty. So I'd imagine "IF" the Skins want him the offer would have to match or beat what the college gave him just to get him on board.

I would imagine and it has been said in the media

[quoteAbsent a chance to scrutinize the new Briles contract, it may not matter. College coaches continue to leave for other colleges and NFL teams despite having long-term contracts in place. For now, the announcement of a new deal may be nothing more than a way to deal with questions Briles is getting from recruits about whether he’ll be leaving.]

I really hope Briles is just speculation. Hiring Briles isn't going to do much to quiet down the whole, "Redskins catering to RG3" thing. I can't say I'd be upset if he did get hired though, at least RG3 would be working with a guy who knows exactly what he's all about and vice versa.
Denver caters to Manning, and what is wrong with that? They bring in Welker because Manning asks, They bring in Tamme for the same reason. They stick with Moreno because Manning is more comfortable with him in pass blocking even though they spent their 1st rounder on Ball. I know Manning has established himself as one of the greatest franchise QBs in history and is therefore deserving of the concessions (and they did the same for Tebow, maybe not as far as players, but certainly schematically), but by giving up what we did to acquire RG3 we were making the not so subtle statement, "you are the franchise QB we need". If we had catered to RG as far as personnel is concerned we could have had Josh Gordon and/or Terrence Williams for a couple supplemental draft picks. Both of which would be upgrades over our current WR talent. The point I'm making is there is nothing wrong with catering to your players if it means improving your team, and winning games, and good coaches and front offices understand that very basic philosophy.

GOOD!! We need someone hungry for success!!!

Shannahan has done a terrible job. RG3 does not play special teams. You want to tell me that you need draft picks to cover a punt? Can't sell me on that one.

Some players have clearly quit. Can't be too surprised when your HC has basically done the same.
Stupid.....Way to pacify your spoiled star QB......Lets bring in a coach who has confessed to not having a offensive play book..Probably only type of coaches we are going to have while Synder is the owner.
A spoiled start who sacrificed his leg to beat Baltimore, but Cousins gets the credit. Shannahan is the spoiled b(rat). He got all his toys he wanted and he didn't produce. Point Blank!

Shannahan this is his mess, everything. Snyder did his job and paid him 7 million a year an got out the way. Off course the QB and owner are gonna be tight. That has nothing to do with production which is what Shanny gets paid for.

Lots of chatter on Sports Radio in Texas that Shannahan let that stuff leak because he wants out of DC and has his eyes on the Houston Texans job.

Again, just speculation and talk radio chatter.

If thats how you view then fine, my view is that this mess is done by all the parties involved.

Yeah I heard it also and I think it's probably pretty accurate, he looks like he didn't want to be in DC this season.
