Last year, a contract year, Rogers tore it up. I honestly don't know if he is doing the same again this year.

He didn't want to be here. He thought he deserved a long term big money deal that NO ONE offered him and settled for a one-year deal in SF. Had he played for us in the final year of his deal the way he played for SF in his one-year deal with them, he might still be here.

but, he didn't, he's not. Moving on.

he was understandably jilted. He may have not wanted to return, but we never went out of our way to bring him back. Situation imo was severly mishandled first my Vinny, which mishandled a list of FO decisions. In the end we chose D Hall. But Carlos shut everybody after his play last year. It was a mistake in the end. Los may have been an a$$hole, id still take his play on the field.

B/c to do so would have cost much more than he had demonstrated being worth. Everyone snubbed him, EVERYONE. Essentially, he was looking to be the next Nate Clements. He was a solid cover corner who I (personally) would have liked to have kept. He wanted shut down corner money. He wasn't getting that from us or anyone else.

As to last year - tell me when did he once play with that ability here? Had he done so, he may still be here. (Does he have any picks yet this year? Or is he reverting back to old school Carlos now that he has a long term deal?)

At this point, it's pretty clear you've made up your mind and refuse to be dissuaded by facts.

Joe, I believe he may have been the top rated corner coverage-wise last year. He had never played like that before, BUT in his last year here he was extremely effective in coverage. He only played in 12 games in 2010, but was within the top 15 cover corners in the league. Carlos was at minimum a serviceable, above average CB who had the potential to be better if he coulda just squeezed the damn ball. 2009 wasnt a very good year for him in Blanche's last year here.

The thing that pisses me off is we draft someone and develop him and let him go. Now we sit around and bitch about our CB secondary and say we should spend money here and there, when we had someone who did at the minimum a decent job. Im not looking to be dissuaded

As a canes fan im curious about what will happen with ray ray armstrong. Got kicked off the team but the kid can flat out play. Maybe he will do some growing up by draft time and could be a steal in the later rounds.

Let's admit two things about Carlos Rogers, and then move on forever.

(1) Carlos was better than we thought, we definitely miss him & all would want him back. I'd wager if we had a poll on this board on who would take him back right now (if he actually wanted to be back here), most everyone would say yes.

(2) It was a good decision at the time to let him walk, since he underperformed here and was unhappy. It was our decision along with his, since it is likely we could have offered him a contract he would have accepted if it was lucrative enough -- but we didn't think he was worth it at the time. Good decisions still have risks and hindsight doesn't make the decision a bad one.


The other thing is, we had a losing team, losing culture, bad locker room guys, and a dysfunctional front office. Players didn't mind leaving. I'd wager that more players would want to be part of our team now because RG3 is here, and if a Redskins player like Rogers was offered the same contract on another team now -- they'd be more likely to stick it out here because there's a lot of potential & a better locker room than before.

Why to people always bring up Halls 50 million dollar contract, he wasn't given that by Bruce.

This crap pisses me off, and the Carlos Rogers subject he wanted a Hall type contract and we couldn't give that to a guy who under achieved here.

The assumption is that he can be cut, but that's also without understanding the massive cap hit that would happen because of his guaranteed money. Kinda like cutting Jamal Brown, but way worse.

True I guess he could be cut, but who is a better option. We always hear he can't cover, tackle and takes too many risks trying for ints. I will agree with two of those he is horrible in coverage and takes too many risks for ints, but his tackling has gotten better. I also believe I have seen his on kick coverage.
