Re: Somebody please try to convince me that the FO has a plan.
I suppose it's rather unfortunate that the criteria people use to assess the FO is based upon success on the football field.
"People aren't happy no matter what the Redskins front office does" because whatever it does never seems to translate to winning. This decade the Redskins have been one of the least successful teams in the NFL. They've won one lonely playoff game and zero division titles despite grossly outspending every team in the league. Sports is a nasty, results based institution and until the Front Office can show consistent success, rather than consistent failure, people simply will not be happy with anything they do. Inasmuch as we can affect change through public opinion (which, granted, we probably can’t), it is irresponsible for anyone of us to be to be an apologist for the Front Office.
judging the current front office and its decisions based on the performance of a prior front office structure is as foolish as judging the redskins now based on what another team does. Not ranting and raving like a lunatic no matter what the front office does is not the same thing as being an apologist. |

Re: Somebody please try to convince me that the FO has a plan.
No plan. Just aimlessly browsing FA. Until they can pick BAP in the draft and claim they did well in the draft only to look horrible in preseason then win half their games and miss the playoffs at which time they will find any excuse in the book to blame for the losses.
Oh, sorry, I had a glass half empty moment. |
Re: Somebody please try to convince me that the FO has a plan.
Clay Mathews @ 13. I don't, I would rather we trade down, if Rey is gone, trading down for Alex Mack or Eben Britton makes more sense and value for me than taking Clay Mathews @ 13. He doesn't impress me like Maualuga, Orkapo, Everette etc... If it was @ a lower pick in the 24th-32nd, then I would consider Clay Mathews. Anyway, thats JMO, I'm no expert draft person.

well no, i agree with you too...I don't want Mathews at 13 either, I'd say thats way to high...now at the mid to late 20's, id diffenitly consider...and yes i'd like britton, mack (who the FO doesn't want), and Maualuga (who the FO doesn't want aswell, except larry michael)....you all should really keep a close look at Larry English...this guy reminds me of Tsuggs and lamar woodley...[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ad0Famkaas]YouTube - NIU DE Larry English Career Highlight Video (Part 1)[/ame] also does Smootsmack have a list of every guy the redskins have interviewed? |
Re: Somebody please try to convince me that the FO has a plan.
^ Good question. I would like to see a list of all the people their supposed to be interested in as well.

I've been telling you this for over a month. Damnit, I cook, I clean, you never even take me out anymore! It's because you think I'm fat isn't it?.... |
Re: Somebody please try to convince me that the FO has a plan.
Where's this coming from that our FO isn't interested in Rey? First off I've heard they like all the USC LB corp. Secondly, they'd have to go full retard to not like what Rey has to offer. I want an explanation :)

I've heard that we feel that Rey is a 2 down player, and MLB would be his only position we could play him at, and that we are high on blades as our MLB of the future..hey I want him, it's just that it sounds like they have a bigger need at OT and DE than MLB |

Smith, Chung, Nic Harris, Maualuga, Cushing, Matthews, Cody Brown, Rashad Jennings, Mike Newkirk, Eric Wood, Eben Britton, Jeff Allen? (I'm drawing a blank on his name right now, the DB from Maryland). That's off the top of my head, there's probably (certainly) more |

Good post. |
Re: Somebody please try to convince me that the FO has a plan.
Many people are saying that Clay Mathews and Alex Mack are reaches at 13.
Those draft guys always get surprised anyway. Both of these guys have a heavy upside. Mack is smart and can control the LOS and doesn't get beat by good nose tackles. I've a picture of Clay Mathes SR when he played for the Browns. If Clay JR turns out like his daddy then look out. I guarantee you he can put on another 20 lbs of mass and muscle. He's don't it already and he's not finished. Believe that! Google Clay SR. The man was build like a brick s**t house. |

He looks good, he's pretty quick; if you are right about gaining part, then I wouldn't mind if we draft him.. Mack's my #1 choice (only if top 4 Ts re gone), but I will understand a move like this, just as Rey and others.. |
