Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested?!(from a primary source)
If this is true (and that's a big if) then it could basically come down to Vilma vs. Branch. So you would rather have Vilma over someone who could possible make the LB's better? Make their job easier by hopefully trying up blockers? Is there anyone at the end of the 1st round that is better than Branch?
I think if it came down to it, I'd lean toward Vilma. While Branch could be good, even great, Vilma is a known commodity and he's still young as has been stated.

If Griff, whom I thought had an off year, can return to form and Golston get's more comfortable with the scheme, conditioning and so forth, that could give us some punch up front. So in my mind Vilma then becomes an intersting piece to the puzzle. He also seems to be a leader on the field.

He seems to be very vocal toward other teammates, which we need.

that's stupid ladell betts is loved in that locker room if they let him go there will be so much turmoil in washington

Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested? (rumor)

The team would go into turmoil if Ladell Betts was traded?

Please. That's just ridiculous.

Here's a guy that most everyone was ready to run out of town a year ago, all of a sudden he's the glue that holds this locker room together?

EARTHQUAKE2689 02-16-2007 01:06 PM

Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested? (rumor)

not the glue more like the container the glue is in lol why get rid of him?

when he and portis are healthy they could combine for record numbers
why does everyone want to get rid of him there is a reason we drafted him in the 2nd round

he is a great back up and a good running back look at chester taylor of the vikings i know the ravens wished that they had him back

Simple question, who would you take straight up?

Betts (2nd string RB) or Vilma (starting MLB and one of the best at his position)?

problem: CORNERBACKS: SOLUTION: go after nate clements and if that falls through asante samuel i dont want to see fred smoot rocking a redskins jersey unless he bought it at the mall

problem: linebacker play SOLUTION: SIGN FLECTHER TO A 2 OR 3 YEAR DEAL NO MARK BRUNELL 2004 CONTRACTS AND LET HIM SHORE THAT UP FOR 2 YEARS IN THE MEAN TIME FIND AN EVENTUAL REPLACEMENT

problem: LOSING SOLUTION: SCORE MORE POINTS THAN THE OPPOSITION

PROBLEM: KICKER: WHO THE HELL IS SHAUN SUISHAM AND JOHN HALL COST US THE VIKING GAME WITH HIS GARBAGE ALWAYS INJURED SELF SOLUTION: FIND A NEW GOOD KICKER

AND CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME THE REDSKINS HAD AT LEAST ONE PICK IN EACH ROUND OF THE SAME DRAFT I WILL SETTLE FOR THE FIRST 3 ROUNDS
he's atleast decent...better than anything we've had in a long time...as far as Vilma goes, lets just go ahead and sign fletcher to end all this

Hey Redskins fans.

I'm a New York Jets fans if you can't tell by the avatar.

Someone brought this trade rumor to our forum and I wanted to comment on it over here.

You guys would be lucky to get Vilma. Great player, great leader and class act.

Its really difficult seeing a player that good struggle in our system. We know he's not made for the 3-4, but we're committed to the 3-4 and if he doesn't fit, he doesn't fit.

Don't be fooled by last year. Vilma on your team would be a pro-bowler for years to come.

The problem with this trade is, both of our teams have the same needs: defensive line.

I doubt this gets done because of that. Your team shouldn't pass up the chance to draft Branch or Anderson and the only way we'd trade Vilma is if we were sure to get a great player (potentially, after all this is the draft) at a position of need in return.

But just in case this does happen, I wanted to let you know how great it is to have a player like Jon Vilma leading your defense. You won't be disappointed.

Welcome!

Good points. I have a friend who is a Jets fan, and he is nuts over Vilma. I had the feeling that many Jets fans felt the same way.

You should stick around, there is a lot of good discussion here, and it is so cool to have fans from other teams to offer different viewpoints.

Good luck to you next year!

I think around here, no one doubts Vilma's abilities. What we're doubting is the quality of the trade (should it even happen).

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!!!

Why doesn't Mangini try Vilma on the outside, instead of getting him all beat up playing inside on a 3-4?

I don't think you guys need Betts. Leon Washington is the real deal and he could carry the load all by himself. Should have been a 1st round draft pick. I like Houston too. Real nice 1-2 punch.

Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested? (rumor)

Hmm, just thought about the Kris Jenkins rumor. If we are pursuing him, then our need to draft at #6 becomes less important. Trading Vilma for Betts and comparable draft compensation may then be a decent idea. I guess you could substitue any DT that can be traded or has been released instead of Jenkins.

Just a thought that is not entirely endorsed by me.

Re: Draft Day Trades: Jets Interested? (rumor)

when did this kris jenkins rumor start up cause if we get him then we could consider trading down and nabbing gaines adams while getting an extra pick or two some where
