Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

What I don’t get is how there appears to be no clarity on why we are where we are. Perhaps the team has no clue which means Williams isn’t sharing. Or he is and the issue is bad for the Skins and everyone is keeping mum. But not knowing why is making everyone guess, sheds no light on when we can expect it to end or how, and otherwise perpetuates the situation. None of which is good for anyone. Including we the fans.

Very frustrating.

No matter what was written last week about TW possibly coming back, I somehow have this suspicion that this will not be settled this year. There is something big underfoot that is hidden by either TW or BA or both. If it was small, why hasn’t it been settled either with money or a trade? Are the Redskins willing to lose their best player to make a point?

I wonder if TW told BA, “I want to be traded”. BA replied, “Play your contract”. Its like watching two teenagers play chicken with their Dad’s cars. The ending isn’t going to be pretty.

Got a gut feeling that there will be news on this tomorrow. If TW is going to come back, he'll want to be involved in the Wednesday practice when they traditionally insert the game plan for this weeks game.

Why not next Tuesday? Or the Tuesday after that? Or the Tuesday after that? Realistically, TW can do this for 8 weeks if he wants. Unless he's dying for cash, at this point, he'd be smart to wait until we finish the brutal opening 5 weeks.

Or he’s waiting until Penn sucks or gets injured. Then his leverage goes sky high

Because of three reasons:
1. Leaving money on the table he cannot get back
2. Piling up fines for no-show (can be forgiven, depending on organization)
3. To your point, he cannot stay away for 8 weeks. He can, however, stay away as long as he does not miss 6 games. At that point he forfeits an accrued season. At that point, he might as well stay home and watch Sundays like the rest of us.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

TW must either be holding out for a trade or a new contract. That’s all I can figure out. My guess is that BA told him to play his contract.

If Penn gets hurt or the left OL collapses then this gives TW huge leverage.

If the team starts winning without TW or as the six game limit approaches then the Redskins gain some ground.

Somehow I think that BA will blow this . Worst case: no trade, no TW this year.

Then there will be a game of chicken....the Redskins will do nothing and Trent will see how long he can go without a paycheck

Trent who? Screw him. IMO he's a quitter.

I thought he wasn't going to be ready for the regular season due to recovery from the head growths anyway. Maybe he can't comfortably wear a helmet yet...

Maybe he should call AB :)

Line held up in pass pro pretty damn well on Sunday, against likely a damn good defense. Outside of Moses. I don't understand holding in the NFL anymore.

I think we have enough talent to beat the Cowboys if we play well. But I have absolutely zero faith in Gruden or Manusky to win big games. Last week just further validated this.
