Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
I have now watched this game 4 times, 5 if you included watching the 2nd half again the night of the game.
What I see is what I've wanted to see since Theisman broke his leg. This league is all about the QB and as I watched my team try to force Jason Campbell, Alex Smith or Dwayne Haskins on me I knew we needed better to be contenders. Well now we have that QB. Of course we can't call Caleb a bust after 3 games, but how many QBs who started out great turned into busts? No they mostly all turned out good or great. Originally I preferred Maye, I like pocket passers who can run. But as I watched his tape nothing jumped out as special to me. Then I watched Jayden and it was obvious that he was special on the first play. I kept hearing how Maye had a stronger arm, but Jayden's release was lightening quick, it was obvious from the tape, and the ball got on the receiver far quicker than Maye's throws. Yes posters (not here) argued that Maye was really mobile, posting videos of long runs in the open field. I argued that he didn't have the same burst and we saw that on Monday night. I am convinced Maye takes at least 2 sacks from defenders coming in unblocked, Jayden's acceleration allowed him to escape those defender and he then made a play. |

Kid is special, and he's still learning.

Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
I love watching the replays of his 10-15 yard passes. They are so crisp and on a line - they are just fun.

If our offense keeps rolling throughout the season, then we should expect to lose Kliff within 2-3 years. |

I'd like to have at least 2 years of Kliff to not only establish the offense, but to be able to set up a new OC within the existing coaching staff to take over if/when he leaves. The good news is that we have a former OC in Brian Johnson in the current staff that could potentially take over. I know DQ will be paying attention to this, as part of his struggles in Atlanta came when Kyle S. left to be the 9ers HC and did not have a good succession plan in place after his departure. |

Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
We have the biggest development here in a long time and the site went down the next day. LOL.
I can't tell you how happy I am about what has happened here. People all over the league are talking about Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders. We literally went from a laughing stock to a team people want to see overnight after that MNF game. He followed that up with an even better performance. He is for real and this will totally change our future. |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Maybe the best part:
- Next year, in 2025, $121M in cap space. 2nd in the league behind New England's $137M - Adam Peters is the guy picking the players to surround Jayden with (whispers) the window may be opening |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
Food for thought, if we got Ben Johnson, i doubt Kliff would have come. Kliff and JD5 have been a match made in heaven.
I much rather have DQ here to help build the D up then Ben Johnson |

Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk
That's an understatement. The offensive staff behind Kliff: - Brian Johnson AHC / Pass Game Coordinator - Anthony Lynn Run Game Coordinator, Running Backs Johnson has called plays in Philly and Anthony Lynn has been a head coach. And then they've got position coaches behind them. If we lose Kliff there are two experienced guys that can step right in. |
If our offense keeps rolling throughout the season, then we should expect to lose Kliff within 2-3 years.
Not so sure Kliff becomes a head coach soon. He already did that and it didn't work out so well. If we pay him enough, he may stay as oc which he is great at.

Giving up a high-paying job that has Jayden Daniels would be a very risky move. If I was Kliff, no way I'm giving up this job to go take over say like the Jaguars. |

Still only 4 games in to his oc tenure here. Don't think it's anything worth worrying about currently.

Way to early thought. If this isn't an illusion, Will JD5 become the first billion dollar player?

They have the cap space to sign a true #1 corner, IMO this team's biggest need, as well as making other moves or locking up productive players. They have so much cap space but also have a lot of players on 1 year deals that will need replacing. Happy my favorite signings (Luvu, Biadasz, Armstrong and Eckler) were signed to multi-year deals. They need to find more players like Luvu who attacks either via free agency or in the draft. Nobody is talking about Armstrong but he applied a lot of pressure from the edge on Sunday and has 2 sacks in the last 2 games. Eckler will continue to do damage once he returns, I'm hearing probably this week. |

I think we all feel this way. This guy is not just good, right now he is in fact elite and I see no reason, barring injury, why that won't continue. I watched the MNF game 5 times. I recorded some show on the NFL network just to see the highlights of the Browns game and listen to the announcers. It was funny, they just said something like "oh yeah and Daniels was great again of course". The entire league is aware of what we have in Washington. He is the newest and brightest star of the league and this has set us up for the future big time. |

Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
I gotta admit that I'm still not ready to anoint JD as elite QB yet, due to the RG3 debacle. I need to see JD play well against great defenses to believe it.
Yes, I know I'm still experiencing the Snyder syndrome. |

Yes, I know I'm still experiencing the Snyder syndrome.
I know how you feel. I want to truly believe that we are on our way back to greatness but after all the disappointment that turned to hopelessness of the Snyder era it seems incredible. I'm happy about what is happening now but I still fear - I can't even type the words - you know what. |
Re: Jayden Daniels - Commanders QB Thread
The PTSD this fanbase is suffering from is amazing. I haven't talked to too many who aren't waiting for Lucy to pull the ball away again. I feel it too, told my wife on draft day "RGIII said all the right things on draft day too", but it's getting better.
This kid is for real, barring injury there is no way I can't see him being a franchise QB at the least and very likely an elite QB. If RGIII didn't happen I think we'd all feel differently, but this guy is a different animal altogether. |

True, and it goes beyond the RG3 letdown . . . *Everything* we thought might be a sign of life in the Snyder regime, every new coach, new GM, new QB, new “generational” draft pick, all of it went to crap. I’m beginning to wrap my mind around #5’s potential, but the speed of the new brotherhood culture, killer FA signings, O-line cohesion, secondary improvement, hell, even finding a kicker — it’s hard to appreciate daylight when you’ve been living in a cave for 25 years.
