Re: The Sam Howell Thread
We are most likely not finding any real upgrades at OL or LB until next offseason. But it’s ok. This thing is just getting started. The first and most important, and at one point in time seemingly impossible thing, is done. We got rid of the stink that was Snyder. Great things are coming. Namely a football team that doesn’t fill its seats with opposing fans and make headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Hopefully now we can concentrate on the team only and we address the oline and lb corp. We have a great core of guys here. Including a quarterback! |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
For what it is worth
PFF on X (fkat) Sam Howell targeting past the sticks this preseason: 🪖 84.2 PFF Grade 🪖 12/16 🪖 177 yards 🪖 2 TDs/0 INTs 🪖 150.3 passer rating |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Honestly cannot see them changing the OL at all, one of Ron's failings is being overly loyal, great in life bad in competitive sports. Only guy who could get jettisoned is Trenton Scott, and we have a 4th round project OT who might not even make the team

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
For the last 4 years they have had so many opportunities to improve the LB group, but they keep ignoring it. Not going to happen. I cannot even see J.Davis getting a second contract.
|
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
I love that Howell steps up and takes total responsibility for the sacks. If he keeps that up, his Oline will only fight harder to protect him.
Yes it was against the 2's so we do need to pump the brakes some but man he looks the part!
Yet he beat the Cowboys in a meaningful playoff game for them. Howell has improved a lot since and keeps improving every game, he has learned a new offense over night. He’s the real deal, better than Cousins and We’ll be like Joey T or even better. |

This regime has made it clear that the resources on defense are going to the guys upfront. |
Ravens defense brought constant blitzers…not a normal in preseason
Howell handled it well
I noticed that. They were constantly sending pressure and their db's were playing tight man to man. They were playing to win that game no doubt. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Risner is still out there...
LB looks thin though; who's out there likely to displace a current starter?
Risner would be an upgrade. I'm not sure exactly what he's waiting for, to be honest. I feel like he's betting that some team will be desperate enough to overpay him, because a key O-lineman goes down with an injury. He'll probably have a job soon, but I doubt it's here. I haven't heard anywhere that we are interested. LB - yeah no one out there currently is better than what we have probably. Would have to see who gets cut over the next couple weeks to see if anyone makes sense. |

Yes they do that every year, despite their protests to the contrary. |

Exactly lol, they act like they didn't try and win those 24 in a row.. It's fine but just be real and admit it |

And let's go EB! At this point, yours is the right mindset. What we won't see this season is Turner's inane use of Samuel and Heinicke's flaccid arm. If the OL doesn't completely fail, I suspect that we will score a few points. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
The Cards win looks “more” legit after this week and first start road NFL start is Denver one of the hardest places to win…
65.7% 501 yards 3 Td 1 int, not a bad start |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Best QB we've had since Kirk. Sam is so much better than Wentz or Taylor.

Definitely. And unlike Kirk, Sam doesn't have to deal with a terrible organization owned by an incompetent a$$hole. And I feel like he has a better opportunity to further succeed here, than Kirk would have. |

It's a small samples size, but it's definitely looking that way. |

I just might have to get on the SH hype bus, mainly because there are not any other buses coming and I need a ride to the Town of Hope.

actually i miss read it, i thought it meant league wise. Specific to Washington, not sure if that was even post worthy |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
1987. Wasn't that the year of Jay Schraeder(sp?) and Doug Williams? Hard to believe a 3rd guy had a 3-0 win streak amongst that. More likely 1957/67, commanders front office still cannit get it right.
