New York grand jury votes to indict Trump in hush money case: Live updates https://news.yahoo.com/trump-new-york-grand-jury-indictment-live-updates-214723895.html Finally!
Should have been one of the serious cases to go first (Georgia, Jan 6, or Florida). This one gives too much an appearance of a case brought for political reasons. This one only helps the MAGA crazies in their attempts to paint these cases as unjustified. |
Re: trump the Criminal
NOTHING good will come of this. This is just a big fat cut of red meat for people that love hating Trump and love worshiping Trump. Everyone else, just stuck in the middle. A politician being indicted for hush money is comical. The government is all ran based on bribes.

Re: trump the Criminal
Personally, I'm pissed off that Max Fried pulled his hamstring.
|
Re: trump the Criminal
trump is indicted not because of hush money he is indicted becuase he tried to write it off as a business expense. trump lovers will never admit he is a crook. He is not above the law.

Not too much of an appearance, it's 100% of the reason why it was brought on. If more than 100% was a real percentage, I'd argue that was the case. The democratic party loves Trump (not all voters, the party machine), it's the gift that keeps on giving. To add - I don't want Trump to run. And if he does, there's a 0% chance I'm voting for him. |
Re: trump the Criminal
Yeah political reasons are certainly the reason this case was brought. The only ones who are happy about this one are the crazies left and right. I hear one of the real cases may be coming soon out of Atlanta.

The man is a criminal, and a sloppy one at that. Always has been. He got cocky and then he got caught. You cannot be a criminal and flaunt it. Al Capone went to jail on tax fraud. It’s the same thing. |

Yes he's a criminal and I wish one of the real cases had been brought first. This one was brought for pure political reasons because the DA was in trouble with his base supporters for dropping the much stronger tax related case his department had when he took over. I think this is further evidence that DA's should never be an elected position - it causes them to do stupid things. |

More unelected bureaucrats is NEVER the answer. Government is the problem, not the solution. Voting is the only option us normal people have. |

Some types of jobs should be left to bureaucrats a prosecutor/DA is probably the best example I can think of. |
Re: trump the Criminal
It's laughable people think trump should be above the law. He was sloppy and he got caught ,if you don't agree then you're what is wrong with this Country. The DA didn't come after him it was an independent grand Jury that decided this and only after the man that trump hired to do it went to prison for doing it.

Problem is this lends weight to MAGA arguments that these cases are purely political witch hunts (the non crazies think this particular case is in fact political). So what you have here is a bad apple mixed in with the good ones. Additionally, I've heard this is likely to disrupt the timing of the cases he actually has a chance to be convicted of in court, This one will come first and it will take a year or more to conduct and the legal analysts I've heard (Abrams, Smerconish etc) don't think it will fly, |

I actually heard the opposite . So you're saying a ex president is above the law. https://www.politico.com/news/2023/03/30/trump-indictment-legal-faqs-00089864 How will the indictment affect the other ongoing Trump-focused investigations? The short answer is: Not much. There’s no reason to think the indictment in Manhattan will influence the trajectory of several other probes that present an acute risk of more criminal charges for Trump. A grand jury in Fulton County, Ga., is examining his bid to overturn the election results in that state, and at the federal level, special counsel Jack Smith is leading twin probes into Trump’s role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol and his retention of government documents after his presidency. Formally, a federal criminal case against Trump — if it were filed — would allow federal prosecutors to take precedence over any local case or cases. Concurrent criminal proceedings against Trump would inevitably cause some logistical problems, but typically the feds and local prosecutors try to work out any conflicts. |
Re: trump the Criminal
Maybe you did but as one of the crazies you only listen to the crazies. The moderate opened minded analysts say this case is extremely weak - even the NYT and WP (not really moderates) think it is weak and will basically act as a cock blocker for the real cases.

By KELLY GARRITY 04/02/2023 01:06 PM EDT There is “substantial documentation” to corroborate Michael Cohen’s testimony in the case being brought against former President Donald Trump over hush money Cohen paid, lawyer Lanny Davis said Sunday. Davis also said that material pertains not only to payments made to porn actress Stormy Daniels but a second woman as well, Karen McDougal. She is a former Playboy model who also claims to have had an affair with Trump, who denies affairs with both women. “Michael Cohen submitted a lot of documentation not only to this group of prosecutors but to the earlier group. And there are other documents from other people and other testimony from other people, some of it direct, involving conversations with Mr. Trump concerning the Karen McDougal crime,” Davis said when asked by CNN’s Dana Bash if there were documents backing up Cohen’s testimony in the case for which Trump has been indicted. “And so the answer is substantial documentation,” Davis said on “State of the Union.” |
