Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Kirk is 3rd in the NFL in passing, that is really remarkable considering he lost his two best weapons and his star TE has missed all yr practically. Guy is playing with a young inexperienced WR group and a 33 YO TE that everyone considered to be done. OL hurt all year and no true running game.

He’s near the top of the league in basically every category. Stop the nonsense and get this guy signed pronto when the time comes.

Yeah if we let him walk i really don't know how we could cheer for this team again. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Stats are just numbers. They don't matter if they don't correspond to wins. We can be 4-6 with Colt.
JK, he was great Sunday, until Gruden decided to yell in an audible that wasn't an actual audible from the sideline. So damn stupid. We were already at the 35, even if we got stuffed we still could have had plenty of time to stop the clock. Rose has range from 52 easily. Gotta at least give him a chance at a GW. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I would only bring back cousins if he doesn't try to break the bank. We should take a page from the patriots. when a player ties to make it about themselves and not the team they trade them for whatever they can get. There is no "I" in "team".....

Yes, because the Patriots are the rule, not the exception. Look I agree with you that we shouldn't break the bank, but do you realize how much cap space we have? The money he has asked for isn't a whole lot more than what we're already paying him! We are literally giving him 24 million of our cap space this year, a long term deal will definitely not be much more than that. Look at the percentage of cap space we have open, it's definitely attainable. But for 2 years in a row they have tried to lowball him. If we do it again this year he walks. |

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
If it doesnt crush our ability to sign other players in obvious areas of needs - Id be less upset about shelling out some $ - but I'm also weary of this from all the previous concerns I've been having lately, and also, the stat that ultimately means the most is Wins, and im afraid of ability to do this consistently, or in the post season, but hey i guess we'll see what happens and root the team on no matter what!

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I've waited until this season to be sold on KC... I think this season, he's even more impressive than last year (despite the losing record). All new receivers, no Reed, a patchwork o-line and a poor running game- and the dude is still killing it. Some of those passes he made against the Saints were absolute dimes under pressure.

It's hard to not like Kirk Cousins. Even if he does move on from the Redskins, I'm always going to admire the guy. He's definitely one of the good guys in the league. |

We currently have 4.1M in extra cap space. Next year we will have 56.5M in cap space. Only player needing re-signing is Zach Brown (3-6M) and Cousins (26M) 24M = roughly the amount of cap we would have to work with AFTER resigning Brown and Cousins. Not saying they didn't low ball him and I'm also not blaming Cousins either for not resigning. Cousins is a little above average - not a superstar but can manage a game and not lose for you if he has the right pieces around him (and a healthy o-line). Reality is he should have been resigned when Scot wanted to resign him but Allen and Snyder didn't want to do it then. This mess is all on them. Now they need to make an fair offer he can't refuse and won't hinder the team from added pieces to achieve the goal we all want - Lombardi Trophy.... |

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
As an Eagles fan I would love the fools in the front office let KC walk, guy is a top 10 QB easy who’s shown the ability to move the ball regardless of who lines up with him. He may force some throws but more often than not he makes the play. Imagine what he’ll do with some more talent (and time to develop rapport) at WR.
Granted I don’t get to see every game but I don’t understand the reluctance by some in the fanbase to embrace the best QB the team has had in 2 decades (sry Jason Campbell fans). |

Here's a list of the key guys who are not on the team in 2018: - Cousins and Zach Brown, as you note - Bashaud Breeland - Shawn Lauvao - Niles Paul - Trent Murphy - Will Compton and Mason Foster - Junior Galette - Spencer Long - Ryan Grant - Dustin Hopkins Guys also not on the team in 2018. We won't miss these guys but it's still a body you have to replace. - DeAngelo Hall - Terrelle Pryor You can argue that some on this list should be kept, others should be let go. But you can't argue that all should be let go. We'll use up most of our available cap space retaining many of our own guys on this list. And there aren't very many good candidates to cut and save some money. Su'a Cravens saves you $500K. Ziggy Hood saves you $1.2M. But you probably want to keep him. We're looking at a draft-focused offseason. Maybe one significant free agent acquisition. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Keep breeland, Foster, grant and Paul. Let everyone else go.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
So you'd let Long and Lauvao walk, elevate Roullier to center, then who's your LG? You either have to acquire one or rely on a rookie. If you keep Niles you bury Sprinkle as a gameday inactive until a TE gets hurt. As much as I like Niles it might be time to say goodbye. If you let both Murph and Galette go then you've got Kerrigan, Preston Smith, and a bowl of D at OLB. I wouldn't do that, we'd be too thin. You'd have major needs at that spot. And if you don't keep Hopkins I don't have a beef necessarily, but Rose isn't on the team either in 2018. You'd have to sign one of them. Or a different K. Can't get around filling that hole. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Lauvao is a must walk...Long didn't play well this year but is the keeper of the 2. Ideally we would draft an Interior Oline within the first 3 rounds of the draft and let him compete to start at LG.
|
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I’d move Long to LG and start Roullier at C
|
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I’d move Long to LG and start Roullier at C
I'd agree. You have a built-in depth option at the C position, Long slides to C quite confidently if something happens to Roullier. We'll go into the offseason needing to acquire a guard for depth, but that's better than spending what it would take to resign Lauvao. You could do it with a G selected in the 5th round. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
nyschke(sp) in the saints game played really well at guard. but by doing that you lose a lot of your depth. roullier looked outstanding also, at center

Gotta love Kirk's big FU to Redskins management ( Bruce and Dan) regarding the condition of the field.

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
An article came across my Yahoo sports app, or, The S, as I call it, stating how the Bruce Allen fucking up negotiations with Cousins narrative is simply going to continue. That Bruce put out a statement that the Redskins are really going to evaluate the last 5 games of the season to make a decision on Kirk. If I was Kirk I would tell this FO to fuck off. My opinion is they will transition tag him or w/.ever and try to get a pick out of the whole situation.
