Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
Anybody putting this game on the coaches doesn't know shit about football. You should be embarrassed.

Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
Not sure why I feel encouraged about this lose but I do. I really think this team is showing improvement. I also think we have our franchise QB, and his name is not Robert.

Everyone that's here knows I'm not always the nicest to either guy, but they weren't the problem today. I actually likes most of the qbs plays and most of Grudens calls. For all the mistakes on the road to best team in the world, 17 point loss not to shabby. Usually for is that's a 35 point loss. |

I think the coaching was the least of the problems. This could've been an entirely different game had the RBs and receivers actually shown up. |

Agreed! Kirk Cousins actually played well! It was the Wide Receivers that suxed today. I was actually encouraged by Kirk Cousins play today
I think the coaching was the least of the problems. You are right, if we hadn't made all those mistakes it probably would've been a competitive/interesting game. But the Pats have lost 4 times at home since 2009, and even if we had played a flawless game I doubt we would've handed them their fifth loss. The talent level and the cohesion they have is undeniable. They aren't the best team in the NFL by accident. We just aren't on their level yet. |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
I feel strangely ok with the loss too. People will say we got our asses kicked and we suck and cousins stinks because they will look at the box score and draw their own conclusions. Go Bucs. Our season is far from over. We picked the wrong day to drop 8 passes and an onsides kick too. Grant had it but couldnt hold on to that either. Maybe the patriots inflated our receiving gloves?

Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
This game kind of reminded me of the game at Pittsburgh in 2012. A tough team in a tough environment. Good chance we were going to lose anyway, however so many drops, and the better team just slowly extended their lead over the course of the game.

Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
I just hope that the team doesn't lay an egg against a very beatable Saints team.

Your good with that o performance? So lets blame it on the drops. We put up 20+ points if it wasn't for the drops? Embarressed should be Jay and the offense staff...cousins played ok, can't blame him |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
Another thing, this is after a bye. This isn't a good look for Jay and staff...not at all

Embarressed should be Jay and the offense staff...cousins played ok, can't blame him
I can think of two that would have taken us into scoring position. Others extend drives. The drop / int les directly to 7 for them. No doubt those 8 drops make atleast a ten point difference. No doubt. You take away those drops I think we win 20-17 or something along those lines. You cannot really blame anyone other than Garcon n Carrier for not focusing. |

Embarressed should be Jay and the offense staff...cousins played ok, can't blame him
Jay schemed Derek Carrier open on that first quarter drop, that was going to be a scoring drive if he makes that catch because he easily gains 40 on that play. There were several other drops on third down that killed drives. And are you going to put the Matt Jones fumble on Gruden too? It's the fucking Patriots bro. I don't know what you were expecting to see, but I know that they're 48-4 in Foxboro since 2009. And you thought WE were going to be the fifth?? We are not ready to compete on that level, to expect Gruden to come up with anything given the immense mismatch smacks of football ignorance. He was fine. We had no shot to begin with, but when the team drops eight passes I dunno what the hell you expected. |

We let the impossibility of the task get in our heads. |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
No one is arguing that the drops weren't a pathetic, but lets be real here, the 2 biggest significant drops were both in the first quarter. The rest of the drops were on fairly pedestrian typical short yardage routes that even if caught would have had minimal gain.
The Pats also had a wide open TD drop. I can't remember if they still ended up scoring a TD on that drive or not though. The pathetic showing by the offense was certainly not helped by all the drops, but there was much more wrong than just the drops. |

You CANNOT KILL 7-9 DRIVES with that kind of lack of concentration and just brush it aside as a minor little hiccup. Our pass pro was fantastic, and KC was on the money. Not sure what else you can be pointing at. |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
We KNEW going in to have any chance the boys would have to execute. To many did not. AS S10 has stated, Jay was sound, the personnel was not. KC was solid as well.
As has already been stated, we do not......yet have the horses to run with these guys. I'm with Doc. If we have guys that consistently under perform like Perry Riley. Bench him and give the next man his shot....Can he be worse? |

Stop being such a f*ckboy and grabbing at your leg after every pass like you tweaked something and go do more conditioning. Maybe you'll get open and actually be able to contribute before the end of the season. |

Djax will be gone next yr so he doesn't care

Minimal gain that would have put us in 3rd and short. Short passing is what a west coast offense does. Until we average more than 2.5 yards a carry, we are a west coast offense. I'm encouraged too. They had a bye to game plan against Kirk, and he looked good. Kirk will be our QB next year and I'm fine with that. |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
Too bad Jackson made comments like that. The team has been overall very good this year about saying the right things and maintaining a team first attitude, even when things weren't going well.
As far as the dropped passes, they happen. Every team drops a couple of easy ones a game. We had a few more than that. But overall, losing by 17 on the road to one of the greatest teams of all time isn't worth getting too upset about. We played like the team we are, no better, no worse. Last year's team would have lost today's game by 30. We have to be content with baby steps. |

From what it looked like, Butler was in his hip pocket all game long. Pats DB's and LB's were playing aggressive ball challenging our wr's. Where was Jordan Reed today? Pats offense gets all the attention but I just as impressed with their defense. |

Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
Belicheat did what many expected him to do, take out our team's big weapons. Reed and DJax were a non-factor. But that would not have mattered if the other receivers had caught easy passes.

Honestly I'd cut him tomorrow. We're not making the playoffs and he's a cancer. Definitely not a Scott M type guy. He gone! |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
Belichick w 10 days to prepare means reed was neutralized. Desean just never materialized.
Just a bad vibe from the get go. Tbh I went green pre nite nite which was nice. Spent some time grilling in the falling leaves. Happy little trees. Good times. |

It's funny how many folks here that wanted Jackson so bad are now seeing the true Djax, I hate to say it, but I told you so.

Don't even remember what side I was on, but I should have known better. He played 1 game and threw everyone under the bus. Djax loves himself and only himself. He's old enough to grow up, just not mature enough. |

Just saw this response. I see us drafting a WR and MLB in top 3 rounds, maybe top 2 rounds. |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
I'd spend 10 mil per for d jack 2014, but this year has been a huge disappointment to say the least. Our plays for stretching the field seems solely dependent on him only playing which has been the sad and odd question all year.
Like seriously, it's week 9 .... Stretch the fucking field already. After a bye no less ... Stretch the field, open things up. For the love of god |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
One of the worst games ever. Strange though, we had chances but every one of our receivers seemed to have the jitters. I finally gave up and went to the grocery store.

I just wish we were smart enough to get him the ball. But when you got a piece of shit o coordinator who clearly doesn't deserve the job and a lost hc... |
Re: Skins vs Pats - Game day thread
Deaean will "flash" by seasons end. God I hate that new buzz word. But deaean healthy is worth his cap. But at 28-29 .... U want to have the young deaean version not the old.
