It was the use of the word "the" in front of the name. It is considered derogatory towards Ukraine because the name means borderland. When "the" is put in front it implies they do not have government autonomy so I wasn't sure if that was intentional on your part to call them a Russian borderland.

Ukraine will never be a formal member of NATO but I think Russia doesnt like the fact that its already being treated as an informal member. Lots of strategic sharing on intelligence and equipment. Israel blocked Ukraine form getting the Iron Dome (gotta love Israel).

Putin demands were to have a pro Russia installment back in Ukraine like how it was pre 2014 revolution when Ukraine kicked their pro Russian president out who is now in exile in mother Russia.

Trump has absolutely no sway on my political opinions. If it sounds like I agree with him on something it's because I've always felt that way and he happens to share a similar opinion.

Russia provides 7% of our imported petroleum. That value to me at least seems to be in the roll of maintaining diplomatic ties and negotiations. Putting sanctions on the import would hurt them but not really impact our economy, but we know gas companies will take it upon themselves to raise the price regardless.

We should be investing in renewable and electric infrastructure but the cards are stacked against us with corporate blocking and lack of political will.

I do however disagree with Keystone. We have reneged over and over on tribal treaties, if we are going to say we are a morally superior country then we should treat our minority populations with decency and not continue to exploit them. I will acquiesce to Keystone if they decide to reroute it through the whitest communities in the midwest to contaminate their drinking water and spoil their unsacred land.

You highlight Russia is a massive oil producer, you got to question why that industry sector was omitted in our sanctions.

Biden energy policy has been a predictable disgraceful disaster. Keystone, to fracking bans, limiting permits.

Just remember inflation and energy prices were way up before this…no one is gonna act like this Russian war is the genesis of the problem. The problems were already happening as a direct result of Biden’s policy choices. He chose this path

Putin wants Ukraine, and he wants Trump back in office, because contrary to the lie that Trump was tough on Putin he was anything but.

If you are Putin and you want Trump in office for as long as possible…,do you invade Ukraine when he is in office? Absolutely not. Man the short sightedness from the right , mainly the hard trump right, is mind numbing.

In my personal opinion .. this isnt about trump or obama or biden. This is about Putin.

No one, including those 3, would commit to US boots on Ukraine ground. Outside of that, its sanctions and thoughts and prayers. Unless you want the US and Russia to go to war, I dont think there was anything anyone could do to stop this from happening.

It is 100 percent about Putin. He is a paranoid secluded psychopath.

The conversation about why now, and why Trump calls it genius and says Putin is doing it because of a rigged election are like a sister conversation though.

Agree for the most part. I would be perfectly fine with a proxy war. Hack their defense and intelligence. Stop their pipelines for a couple hours, but definitely no boots on the ground. Maybe crash an old MTV satellite into one of their important satellites "on accident"

Edit: Thought about including drone strikes on some hospitals and schools but that might be frowned upon.

Unfortunately Sunnyside their is a strong political cost for Biden. Sorry, you are not going to absolve Biden when Democrats for 4 years spewed lies about Russian Collusion hoax, claims of the DNC hacking by Russia (another disinformation campaign), call gop Russian stooges, etc and then say :

Biden's account tweeted in February, 2020: "Vladimir Putin doesn't want me to be President. He doesn't want me to be our nominee."

"If you're wondering why—it's because I'm the only person in this field who's ever gone toe-to-toe with him," the then Democratic presidential candidate said.

This is another failure of the Biden foreign policy…and a continuing losing streak the Biden/Obama administration where they got their ass handed to them by Putin.

Now to simply throw hands up, relinquish accountability and declare nothing coulda been done…it didn’t work with his Afghanistan withdrawal and will not work here. Biden is career politician with a record, I suggest checking his record
