Yeah but still a true statement that people thought of Locker as a number one pick even higher then Luck at that point. |

If Peyton is Healing I wouldn't be surpised if the Colt's pay him the bonus and put the number 1 pick up for sale. Restock the whole team by selling Luck.

Unless someone offers you 10 first round picks why do you even consider trading away the chance to draft the best and safest QB prospect of this generation? If anyone should appreciate the fact that QB's don't grow on trees it should be this fan base. Think of it this way. Who has been a better team over the last decade? The Ravens before Joe Flacco or the Colts with Peyton Manning? You know why the Steeelers dominated the AFC North for so many years? Because they had a freaking QB while the Ravens were using retreads like Steve McNair and late round developmental guys (read:Troy Smith). The type of QB's that a lot of fans here would have picked for us in the same situation. |

Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
While the Colts may have been better during the regular season, the Ravens have the same amount of hardware as the Colts over this time frame. Furthermore the Ravens can lose there best player and not turn into a 2-14 team.

Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
People tend to belive the media hype so much. Luck is not Peyton. No Matter how you spin it, if you can pull a Montana/Young type of transition for your team you better do it.
Not saying that they will. But why can't the Colts take the opportunity to fleace us for picks, re-tool around Peyton, draft tannehill to be his understudy and fill the other many holes in their roster that they will have this year? Luck can still end up being a bust. Just sayin |
Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
Colts aren't going to pay him $28M without even being able to see him throw.
They're clearly ready to move on, new coach, new GM, and soon to be new QB. |
Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
IMO the best RUMOR to come out now would be the colts looking to trade out of 1st, want to talk about St. lou making a trade right now.

Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
In the event that Washington is unable to trade up, I would say that throwing a boat load of dough to Peyton Manning would be better than drafting Ryan Tannehill. The Redskins could sign Manning, and then draft Brandon Weeden or Nick Foles or Kirk Cousins to be Manning's successor. Then in the draft, we could focus on building the team accordingly. We could use the first round draft choice on a right tackle, or maybe Justin Blackmon.
I still like the idea of drafting Robert Griffin III, but if we are unable to move up, then Peyton Manning wouldn't be such a bad signing. Hopefully, Kyle Shanahan will be intelligent enough to tweak the offense to how Manning plays quarterback instead of trying to micro manage him into being a Shanahan robot, which in turn would cause conflict. |

[YT]xURPOglz7hQ[/YT] Unfortunately the commentary is in something that ain't ingles but the point remains the same. This guy is real. And for those who say TCU wasn't that great of a defense keep in mind they were #1 from 2008 to 2010. They dropped to 32nd this year in part because of this game where Griffin dominated them. |

My intuition, and I would put money on this, is Manning's biggest hesitation about coming here is Kyle's presence. |

Pretty straight forward article. It's either Griffin III or Peyton Manning. I think the Redskins could win with either. But Mike Shanahan, after his failings with McNabb, his miscalculation with John Beck, and his irrational decision to go with Rex Grossman, has hurt the Redskins more than anything. This is his last chance to get it right. Maybe the sports writers are speaking for Daniel Snyder in saying that Shanahan will get canned if the Redskins don't start winning and soon. I doubt if he gets fired. He could very well be in Washington for all five years of his contract. But Mike Shanahan, must get it right this time around with his next major quarterback decision. Manning or RG3. |

The only way for the Redskins to get Tannehill is to reach for him at #6. Even if the Redskins do sign Manning in free agency, and then draft Tannehill, that wouldn't be such a bad move so I agree with you there. But there are other options than Tannehill at quarterback. Either of the QB draftees would benefit with a few years behind Manning and possibly Grossman if he is re-signed. |

You would have to sell Manning on the move before hand if you were to sign him. Any team he goes to he's going to want those early picks to go towards potential first year starters. |

My question is if we draft RGIII should we hire Steve Young as a QB consultant to help his transition into the NFL?
|
Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
According to the draft gods (magazine)...
Ryan Tannehill- Upside- Tannehill is one of the best athlete's in this QB class. A converted WR, he has excellent feet and balance, and he keeps his accuracy on the run. He has a quick release and a great feel for the subtleties of the position, looking off defenders and staying poised under pressure. He worked under former Green Bay Pakers coach Mike Sherman in a pro style offense. |
Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
Down Side- Arm strength is iffy. Tannehill has an awkward throwing motion and pushes the ball more than he flings it. Pass knockdowns aren't a big issue because of his size, but he doesn't stretch the field. Raw after only one full season as a QB.
|
Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
Bottom Line- He probably need another year to get ready, but a potentially solid starter in a West Coast offense.

Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
This is still a great thread.
I suspect RGIII carries far higher bust potential than most believe him to carry. He's a highly mobile QB from a basic college offensive system and, more importantly IMO, it's unclear if his hearts in the game. Can he eat, sleep and breath for the game 46 weeks each year? Wasn't it just a cpl/few months ago he was considering a law degree and putting pro football on hold? Really? Really?? It's pro friggin football and you wanna be the next Johnny Cochran...what fine chap you are indeed, sir!!! I hope there isn't a $ limit on PM. Peyton's never struck me as an unreasonable guy, so he'll accept there's "consensus" idea what he's worth in the market. We should beat that number by a few hundred thousand. The real ? is whether Peyton wants to sign here i.e. does he believe this bidding team, right now, gives him the best opportunity to win right now? I'll be ecstatic if he dons the Burgundy and Gold!!! I'll put it on a t-shirt: Peyton Manning: We're not ****in around anymore!!! (Redskins Logo)
I tend to agree with you on your sentiments concerning RGIII. I get hot and cold on the idea. I have loved the idea of PM in the B & G since the talk came out in early Feb that we were really looking at him. SS seems to think we are on his short list of teams he would sign with, and now I am just ecstatic that it may be a real possibility that we get to see #18. To me it is the much less risky decision. |

To those that say this is it for Shanny , then who would you really want to risk your coaching job with: Manning/Tannehill or another rookie OR RGIII and less young talent. If we don't trade up, I see the FO trading back and picking up some more pieces. If it's me, give me choice # 1.
