The Redskins signed Mike Hamlin, to their proctice squad. I thought he started allot of games for the Cowboys and got flam bayed, but his stats showed he really never played much. I wonder if anyone else remembers him playing for the Cowboys.
Ken Hamlin was the one who started many games for the Boys. |

Thanks, I had a brain freeze when I saw the name. |
Re: 2012 redskins
Just a hunch, but I doubt that we see Hightower next season. Royster, Helu, and maybe one from the draft or a free agent. I really don't think Shanahan will want to play with damaged goods.

Players are subject to injuries. Hightower is young and he takes good care of his body. He's great value for what they traded to get him and what he brings to the table. Royster hasn't shown much and therefore he'll be back to the PS next year. |
Re: 2012 redskins
Hightower, even if he loses some of his speed, has hands and knows how to pass-pro. Those two skills will come in handy, even in a more limited role.

how bout a LaMichael James? Helu has speed, but not that kind of speed. |

He hasn't shown as much as Helu, but he had some nice runs against the Giants in relief of Helu. I say Roster gets more playing time next season. |

Indeed, we need more playing time from the Roster next year. If we can't get more playing time from the Roster where is it going to come from? Put this on the list as one of the major questions for 2012. |
Re: 2012 redskins
Some guys get it faster than others. Watching Royster run in the begginning of the season vs the last several weeks is night and day. He is def in the plans for next season and deserves to be.

Agreed, in preseason he looked way too slow to even be on an nfl roster. the coaches knew he was capable of more. gotta like the way they brought along he, helu & Hank. |
Re: 2012 redskins
It's apparent that Hankerson and Royster had rookie jitters in preseason. One was dropping passes while the other was fumbling. But they both took the time to develop and are in the run for lots of playing time next season. Hankerson, will be a starter I predict alongside Gaffney. This would make Santana the slot WR.

Re: 2012 redskins
how bout a LaMichael James? Helu has speed, but not that kind of speed.
I believe that this system of Shanny's relies on excellent blockers at WR so guys with just Helu speed can take it to the house. More speed is nice, but vision and agility is more important (regardless of system). But there is no harm in taking a look, now is there. :D Note: I've watched any college ball, so this is just a general statement. |

I am starting to think we are going to get the biggest, fastest, and strongest saftey in the draft.

Does he have an adequate brain and work ethic? And by "adequate brain", I mean being able to diagnose and then decide quickly yet correctly. |

No and he will account for 25% of all penalties we commit |
Re: 2012 redskins
i hope we are active in free agency. way too many holes just to count on the draft
I think we will be an active free agency participant; too much on the line for the Shanahans to remain totally draft dependent & patient. Redskins need some immediate help to show measurable progress. Yet another 6-10 season in 2012 probably not good enough to save current regime. |
Re: 2012 redskins
I hope we don't bring them back.. Hell I forgot AA was on the team prior to last Sunday
Yea AA and Torrain might get invited to camp but wont make the 53 man roster next year. Royster has surpassed ATV. |
Re: 2012 redskins
The Redskins will no doubt draft another running back. I'd be surprised if Torain doesn't end up on the team. But I think he's trade bait rather than the Redskins just releasing him.
Why draft a RB when we have Hightower, Helu, and Royster on the roster. If we take another RB its later in the draft. |
Re: 2012 redskins
People are gonna say no everything no matter what. I personally like the WR corp of Hank, D Jax, and Moss in the slot and possibly using a 3rd or 4th rounder on a WR.
What about Gaffney he is having a career year. he needs to come back. |
Re: 2012 redskins
I dont know what DJax contract situation is like, but maybe if the Eagles would have paid him and gotten themselves a n OLine (instead of their stupid spending spree) they might be in a better place. I wouldnt mind Bowe either. Either of those guys, with Hank, Moss, Davis, and a healthy Cooley would be a helluva WR group for a young talented QB.
Moss is getting older, and Cooley is starting to be injury prone. I still like Moss as a 3rd wr like Driver is in Green Bay. |
Re: 2012 redskins
We need to find a RT replacement for Jamal Brown he is injured to often and cannot handle speed rushers. So we better get a RT in the draft. I like our O-line starting next year with as follow: LT-Trent/Wllie Smith LG-Hurt/Kory C-MONY/Kory RG-Chester LT-? /Brown/Tyler P. Our young O-lineman have really stepped up thus far. They will be tested by the Vikings and Eagles D-Line the next few weeks.

Re: 2012 redskins
chances that we get Luck? Definitely got better after last night!

Willie Smith will be our RT of the future, mark my words. Polumbus has done a decent job and belongs as a backup. Big test for Smith this weekend against Jared Allen w/ 17.5 sacks, can't wait to see how Smith does against him. |

The Jags and the Colts are going to be in an all out dog fight to see which team losses. They are in the same division and they both have allot to lose by winning. Lets just hope the Jags see it rationaly. Why would they want another 15 years of the Colts kicking their ass. Then lets hope that the Rams don't do something stupid like win a game. We already seem to have a good relationship with the Rams, assuming Devany does not get fired. |

I thought it was immoral to desire your team to lose even one game even with another 15 years of suffering staring in your face? Jacksonville is committing a crime of epic proportions if they roll over. ;) |
Re: 2012 redskins
Another WR free agent available after this season who's currently on IR and I think is a steal is Josh Morgan of the 49ers. He's from DC and I would sign him before any other FA WR.

Bowe, Wallace, Welker, Colston, VJ and DJ are going nowhere. Josh Morgan is a sleeper, you probably haven't seen much from him. |
Re: 2012 redskins
and i really don't want to. not when better options are present. if we can't get a real #1 why bother wasting the money? we've got more #2s than we know what to do with.

I disagree. If we have a rookie qb next year, the Shannys will be ok as long as they don't go 2-14 or the qb looks like a complete bust. The 4th year is when he has to make at least a playoff push because they won't let him enter the lame duck year with having made progress. |
2012 redskins roster wishlist
So in honor of Christmas, I present my hopeful redskins roster for next year. I doubt this will be the case. I did however make it somewhat plausible, i.e. we are not going to be able to draft RG3, Blackmon, and Riley Reiff in this years draft because they are all going in the first round. Instead i picked draftees across a range of rounds to fill some of our needs. Without farther ado
2012 redskins roster wish list: Qb- RG3, Grossman, and Ryan Wilson Rb- Helu, Royster, Young and Peyton Hillis Wr- Vincent Jackson, Moss, Hankerson, Gaffney, Paul, and Banks Ol- Williams, Ben Grubbs, Ben Jones, Chester, and Willie Smith; Brown, Montgomery, and Lichtensteiger Te- Davis, Cooley, and Paulsen Dl- Bowen, Cofield, and Jenkins; Carriker, Nelid, Marcus Forstons, and Golston Lb- Orakpo, Riley, Fletcher, and Kerrigan; Jackson, Keayon, Alexander, Tank Carder, and White Db- Hall, Wilson, Atogwe, and Landry; Gomes, Doughty, Matt Merletti, Westbrook, Barnes, Tashaun Gipson, and Thompson. P- Rocca K-Danny Hrapmann So there it is, Share your hopeful rosters and begin mocking/supporting mine. |

I doubt Doughty will be back, and Gomes has been underwhelming at FS... WE JUST CANNOT HAVE THE SAME STARTING SECONDARY IN '12 BACK FROM THIS YR... Gano IMO has been good enough late to keep his job, and V-Jax is 1 DUI/DWI from being out for a season... This is a wishlist, but I think our needs at CB and S need to be more of a priority (in the offseason). |

There's no need to replace Gano, while Hall needs to go.
