[quote=Warthog;1230872]There was an expectation that Reed would have a good, in fact, an excellent TC. He did. Very good PS until that super cheap shot. That fine should have been doubled.

I believe REED is playing his last season with the Redskins. He will either be let go by the team for his chronic injury history OR he retires like Luck.

He’ll be missed because he had such a talent when he could play

My best friend and I talk frequently about how much we hope that Reed retires, as he's had so many concussions, and we don't want to see him disabled by the time he is 40 years old due to brain injury. Supposedly the symptoms he is having now are very significant, there is some who believe that he will not be able to return to the field any time soon, if at all this season.

The short term and long term effects of concussions have proven to be cumulative. A person with a previous history of getting them is far more susceptible to another one than someone who has never suffered one. Also the effects become more severe and the symptoms last longer.

Science hasn't figured out why but all human brains tolerate different levels of abuse before issues arise. A good example is professional boxers, many have had issues with dementia starting in their early 40's while others lived into their 80's with no signs of brain trauma.

I agree considering the concussions and all his other injuries Reed needs to hang up the cleats for his long term health.

I think we can all agree Reed needs to hang 'em up for his long term health. Also, it would look better considering the alternative is we trade or release him if he wants to keep playing. At this stage we can no longer rely on him and there's literally no reason he needs to keep playing. The other thing we don't really mention is how many undocumented concussions he's had.

I also can't help but think players are going to target him for head-to-head shots because they know they can knock him out of the game. I ain't implying that Falcons hit was a cheap shot but the defender had plenty of time to figure out how to hit him and he led with the head.

Fucking hate playing on MNF. And not just because of our record. I want to watch football now.

What are the cap implications if Reed retires?

Per Schefty and multiple other sources Reed career could be over due to concussions. Reed should retire...it’s ashame. He should have never been on the field in preseason in the first place but maybe a blessing in disguise.

Please retire Reed

I was listening to Hoffman yesterday and he was explaining the details of this latest concussion. I really hope he hangs out up now and doesn't come back. It isn't worth it. I can't imagine what his brain looks like.

But it was only a matter of time, pre season or not. I believe had he played in these first two games he would have taken a hit and gotten another one.

This isn't a shocker, it's a big fucking fail on our staff to go into the season with the same 3 tight ends as last year. I like Vernon Davis but dude can't run block for shit. Sprinkle is a JAG. And Jordan Reed should've seriously considered retiring last offseason.

Reed is going to be the NFL's next Mike Webster at this rate. He needs to just retire now so we can plan accordingly. Every concussion just means the rest of his life is only going to be more miserable. Let this be the last one.

Wonder how much of a cap hit that will be for another player who will never play again? We've already got the $40 mil cap hit from the crippled QB.

I think with a change of HC comes a cleaning out of FA busts. That frees cap room. Norman - gone, Richardson - gone, TW will either be traded or not paid. Scherff is going elsewhere. Reed, tragically will be gone.

My only question: they sit a third round rookie (McLaurin) EVERY GAME OF THE P.S. - a guy who has never played in the NFL , but they make Reed play in the PS? Why?

I keep going back to the 4th round pick in Love. He's contributing a big fat zero this year. Would have been nice to grab a TE or another o-linemen with that pick. Instead you have a another rb with a bad knee.

Geez that's really terrible.. I can't think of any reason why Reed is determined to continue playing football. Well, money could be a reason but I don't think it will be enough to offset health issues Reed would be likely to experience in the future.

This really sucks, Reed has the talents that could take him to HOF if it weren't for the concussions.
