Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
Where's Pat White when you need him?
JK, the short answer is YES I think he can be. His QB numbers are similar to the QB's of the top 3 teams according to sports radio. The problem is the team is losing. The long answer to me is there are probably a lot of stuff happening we just don't know about or hear about. Like RG3 is not 100%. He's still wearing a knee brace, obviously for protection and support, but slows him slows him down. The coaching staff probably has been in his ear telling him to not run as much, and everyone especially young people want to please their bosses. Now he's a little gun shy to run either cause of getting re-injured or yelled at by the coaching staff so he's more hesitant. He didn't get all the work in the offseason to get the timing down with the WR's and TE's. Another issue is his supporting cast. The OL does not seem to be opening up the wholes they used to. The Eagles explained it away saying they stopped just trying to rush in and tackle and getting cut blocked, now they sit back and wait for the RB to try to run through a hole then they attack the hole. The WR's are not living up to their billing. Garcon might be but Morgan has not shined, Moss catches maybe one ball a game, Hankerson is now injured, Robinson has been 50/50 on the field. etc. etc. |
Sorry should have said this topic has been "mentioned" or briefly discussed in these threads.
Overall I didn't think it was a big deal myself. Griffin does need to be more careful with what he says as things get spun out of control really quick. I thought Keims take was pretty good But one part of his responsibility is accepting full blame. The Washington Post’s Sally Jenkins wrote on that topic. Yes, Griffin needs to learn this. I don’t know if it’s an unwillingness to do so, or a desire to give a full explanation of a play, which is what he did Sunday night. He talked about how no one was open; he talked about how a guy was coming straight at him. Both things were true. It just took a long time for him to say, “It was something I shouldn’t do.” To many, that phrase got lost in the shuffle -- that’s not necessarily Griffin’s problem, by the way. Sometimes it’s a matter of reading the entire quote. Still, it should have been the only thing he said about this play. Robert Griffin III has more to learn - ESPN
OK. A little discussion about it anyway. |

Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
The Colts did not have Jamal Charles. The Colts did not have that defense. That is a case where the pieces were there. Im not saying that u can insert a great qb onto any team and make them winners. Im talking strictly about Lucks situation. Apples and oranges.
Edit: ill also say ....again.... That the chiefs are highly overrated. Look at who they have beat - its garbage. They will benefit from an extremely weak schedule and get into the playoffs - and get knocked out of the first round. Luck beat the broncos. Smith - with a better D and better run game - did not.
Statistically yes, the Chiefs have a better defense. If you watched the Colts vs Broncos game those two defenses were worlds apart. The Colts were killing Peyton Manning repeatedly. The Chiefs didn't even touch Manning once. The Chiefs defense played well, but the Colts defense held Manning to 13 points into the 4th quarter. I don't think you can use one game to compare the two because Luck has been terrible a time or two this season as well. I think Andrew Luck is better than Alex Smith, I just do not buy into him being the sole reason that team went from 2-14 to a playoff team. That team was talented with players like Robert Mathis and Reggie Wayne (who is now out), but they needed a good coach and at least a decent QB. Plus the Indy organization is one of the best organizations in football, that isone of the most important factors when it comes to young QBs. Can you say the same about the Skins? To me right now the "rankings" of young QBs 1) Russell Wilson 2) Andrew Luck 3) Cam Newton 4) RG3/Kaep I obviously think this will change but I am just going off what I have seen thus far. |
Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
We gonna lose our damn franchise new era QB. These same folks saying RG3 not the answer are the same idiots that were believing in freaking John Beck and the same dolts that keep saying cut Santana Moss. Put Grossman out there cause cousins is a Matt Schaub pick six machine with a weak ass arm.
Moss has been dropping alot of balls.
Totally why he shouldn't be pointing fingers. If it was someone like Garcon, or Reed, guys who have mostly been sure-handed, then maybe you could give the statement some credibility. But Moss, come on man, dude is only on the field 50% of the time anyway and then when he is, he's dropping 50% of balls thrown his way. Pot, meet kettle. |

Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?
I believe the organization believes RG3 is the franchise qb.
But things need to get under control in that locker room.I said it weeks ago and I still believe it,I think RG3 can be a prima donna and his ego is out of control. So many reports coming out that he's lost the locker room, with Moss's comments and RG3's after the game, its not looking good. I wish RG3 would have been benched at halftime and the next game too.Sometimes a qb needs to sit on the bench a while and observe and maybe he would get his ego in check. And I dont believe that bs he said after the game, that he was trying to throw it out of the endzone. He was under pressure and threw it up for grabs and now he's trying to cover his ass. Also he said after the game no one was open on the play and he didnt have time, which is a subtle shot at his line and receivers.I havent seen the video, but I heard that Helu was open on the play. He needs to keep his mouth shut to the media and talk to the players to clear things up,thats what a leader would do. |

WOW. No don't like Beck. Grossman sucks. But I definitely would have started Cousins for the first 4 games or until after the bye. However the problem right now is not all his fault. I see timing issues, lack of field vision, less likely to run the ball, over throws, OL not blocking for him, WR's not catching the ball, WR's not getting open, etc. etc. |

True, sports announcers have said on just about every play one person is wide open and RG3 misses them. True on the last play Helu was wide open and would have gotten the first down. Also True RG3 could have probably ran for the first down himself. and lastly also True RG3 could have stepped UP into the pocket and the two DE's would have missed him buying him more time, instead he back peddled out of the secure pocket and into the DE's arms. |

When he benches RG3 that will destroy RG3. McNabb and Haynesworth were right. |

I don't think Shannahan can/will do that. I think there is a big difference between RG3 and McNabb/Haynesworth. I don't think Shannahan would win the RG3 vs Shannahan battle when it comes to Dan Snyder. |
Who here thinks RG-3 was throwing the ball away? Just curious. For the record, I do not.

It is hard to say initially I thought he wasn't.
