Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
I would certainly not propose to tell you what or how to think, but surely you can understand that some of us may see the situation differently. Four surgeries, uncertainty about recovery, his age, and playing out of his comfort zone in Indy would be factors that might be considered when evaluating the wisdom of adding him to the Redskins roster.
Noone is even remotely saying this, but there is also the chance that if he comes to the Skins, with our coaching staff and our dual tight ends, along with adding another talented receiver via free agency, that he could do BETTER here than he did with Indy. Our defense, albeit young, is much more talented than ANYTHING that has come out of Indy the past 10 years, and if Peyton can make Austin Collie and Pierre GarCon valid threats, why in the world couldnt he do that with say a Dwayne Bowe, Hankerson, Gaffney, both our tight ends and a pass catching and explosive young RB in Helu? The more I think of it, the more I like the idea of him here, grooming a Foles or Tannehill for 3 or 4 years. Who better to teach how to play the position to a young talented QB, than the best QB to ever play the game, motivated, and with a chip on his shoulder, ready to prove the doubters wrong. Also, lets think of the situation this way. Washington won 5 games this past year with arguably, well, ok, with definitely the WORST QB play in the league. We beat the super bowl champs twice, all while the NFCE champion took the division with only 9 wins. You think that with an additional year in the system, our defense cannot perform better? You think that given a competent offense, the burden wouldn't be taken off the defense to keep us in games, and that wouldn't translate into a MUCH better squad than last year???? Peyton Manning would transform this team instantly, and we could contend for the title THIS year, all while perserving our youth, and grooming the squad the correct way, without giving draft picks to other teams. In conclusion, all I am saying is this. Peyton Manning, along with a smart draft and a couple solid free agency acquisitions will turn this team around alot faster than people might think possible. Other teams do it, why not the Skins with a healthy Peyton Manning? Im 99% sure that Peyton Manning will be healthy enough to play if he signs a deal with a team, I believe that he will make sure he is ready to go, as will his doctors and new team. He will only improve whatever team snags him, and hopefully the skins FO signs him, instantly giving us credibility at the position, and as a true contending team. I dunno if I can change any of the peoples thoughts around here regarding him, along with all of the PM negativity, but I think that even if we do sign him, the people that are doubting him will be very excited deep down inside, just knowing what he is capable of doing. His uncanny ability to make even average players play at their best, turning them into ferocious competitors, and just the way he leads his squad. He is definitely worth his weight in gold, or burgandy and gold for that matter. |

Somewhat guilty. My point is I'm putting what I think will happen, and also trying to point out rumors of what other teams are interested in doing. I'm not looking at others and because I don't like their opinion or rumor turning around and calling them names......Vinny. I once said I wouldn't put it past the Rams, Vikes, Bucks, and Browns to want RGIII and want to make a play for him along with the Skins, Dolphins, and others. I got laughed at but now we are starting to see reports of what I suggested. I said there will probably be a bidding war for the #2 pick and got laughed at and told RGIII will fall to #6. When I say "yea good luck with that" its because I feel hes wishfully thinking. Too many teams are interested in RGIII with all the media talk about him.people would be better served finding a flaw in RGIII and or something he's done wrong so his stock falls and he drops to the Skins or playing up Tannehill so interest turns to some other QB. But in any event for those who simply think all we have to do is go up and get him go out and spend a little time on other teams message boards and you will see the same talk there as here. They want the RGIII also and feel hes the only QB worth drafting and they should drop their whole draft to get him. |
Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
A guy decides to bring his new blonde girlfriend to a football game. After the game is over, he asks her if she liked the game.
She replies: "Oh it was great, I loved watching those men in tight clothes, but there is one thing I don't understand." "What did you not understand ?" And the blonde says: "Well, at the beginning of the game, both teams flipped a quarter to see who would kick off first. Then the rest of the game everybody was yelling get the quarter back, get the quarter back, get the quarter back. So I thought to myself, gosh it's just a quarter!" |

Brandon Weeden, Rex Grossman, John Beck, Nate Davis, G.J. Kinne
This guy gets alot of hate, but he's pretty damn good. He can really throw the ball around. There are better QBs for our scheme fit in the draft, but not many better QB coming out. I think he transitions to the NFL much easier than some. I wouldnt mind him being here, but it still allows for the same problem. |

When I was evaluating the Jenkins pick, I noticed two things: 1) The Redskins may have been able to get Jenkins a round later 2) They did not pass up anyone else that could do what Jenkins could in order to take him I kind of think that Weeden in the second round would be the same thing. The Redskins probably could get him in the third round. But what are they looking for? Someone who fits both what Mike and Kyle like in a QB? Someone with advanced mechanics? A guy who will not limit the offense with physical limitations? Brandon Weeden offers all that. The only thing he doesn't offer is a good value pick at a need position. I think that FANS should be skeptical of Weeden because fans want the best long-term solution possible. Weeden won't even be the best value pick at QB on the board whenever he is drafted. Kellen Moore and Kirk Cousins have MUCH better long term projections, in my estimation. But why on God's Green Earth would the Shanahans care who the QB of the Redskins is in 2016? They aren't going to base ANY of their draft decisions on long-term projection, which is why Weeden makes more sense for them than for another team. |

I would assume he takes a backup position or asks for his release. |

The #6 pick then becomes a more flexible bargaining chip. Trading down five or so spots for more picks in this deep draft makes sense. I keep hearing there will be 1st round talent near the top of the second round, like last year where we nabbed Jarvis Jenkins. He was one our best D-lineman in camp and preseason before he got hurt. He will be a bonus in 2012. If we can get Tannehill and still fill our huge need at OL and CB with talented, young and inexpensive draft picks, this would be a banner offseason. |

Holmgren has already said he was bringing in competition at the QB position. Bringing in Flynn doesn't change the status of McCoy, it would be competition for the starting position. Also, bringing in Flynn wouldn't make him the unquestioned starter, and that would probably be the case anywhere he went. |

He can play until his late 30's. He could easily have a 8-10 year career if he's good enough. Everyone needs to remember that Weeden isn't a running back. If the front office thinks he's good enough then being 29 shouldn't really matter. I'd have no problem taking him in the 2nd round. |

Still age is a big difference for a QB-starved team. Plus, with him there is no "let's develop him" because of his age. If you want him as a back up, then age is not an issue. If you want him as a starter, then he better start from day one. |

He's probably more pro ready than anyone besides Luck. |
Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
My gut tells me that the simplest way for us to end up with RGIII is for the Browns to get Flynn. However by the same token I've been seeing the Browns looking at trading up 2 spots for a QB to be a waste of time where as the Dolphins and Seahawks might look at trading up with a nothing to loose attitude and thereby easily outbid us for the number 2 pick.
Best case scenario, the Dolphins get Manning, the Browns get Flynn, and the Seahawks fall in love with a random QB from the second or third tier. Seahawks actually might make me more uneasy then any of the other contenders seeing as how they are very unpredictable on draft day under Pete Carroll. They go back and fourth between making good picks and making head scratchers. |
