Re: Demetric Evans ....start me or lose me
I'm a bit surprised by the Canty news. I thought he might be an option, but not a serious one

I understand the strategy but would hate to see him get taken by another team. I like that he's solid, committed and dedicated to playing to his ability. I really hope we resign him. |
Re: Demetric Evans ....start me or lose me
I'm a purist, and I know that Evans was w/the cowpokes for a brief stint, he's made his career here. I understand why they're not offering him anything yet, let the chips fall & maybe sign him to a short cheaper deal a la Rock's deal of last year.
Canty is a really underated guy that is solid all around. But he's a cowboy (and a cavalier for that matter, but that's another story) & I hope he stays w/them or goes elsewhere. I hate it when guys sign w/the rival! |
Re: Demetric Evans ....start me or lose me
If it's between Canty or Evans give me Canty any day. I really don't care who he played for.

I have to agree here. I like Evens but if the decision stands on a choice between them. Then definatly Canty. The fact that Canty plays with the Cowboys dose'nt matter to me either. |

I agree with Matty- If it's between Canty and Evans, I'll take Canty every day of the week, even if he costs a good chunk more. He could be a high-level starter for us for the next 5+ years (plus he's 3 years younger than Evans). |
Re: Demetric Evans ....start me or lose me
I was somewhat surprised to see the Evans wants to be a starter. He is a solid guy and I would hate for the Skins to lose him.
I am surprised we are keeping Daniels considering his recent injury history and his age. |

I agree 100% I especially like the fact that if we get Canty, he'll undoubtably be motivated to "stick it" to the cowboys for chosing not to resign him. As JLC pointed out, he's a similar player to Evans, but much more talented and over 4 years younger. I was surprised JLC mentioned Canty would demand 8M/year in salary. I was thinking something in the 6M/year range would be more than enough to lock him up. However, if we signed him he would instantly become our best D-lineman and probably 2nd or 3rd best player on our defense (behind Fletcher and possibly Hall), so perhaps 8M/year isnt unreasonable. I think the problem on our team is we are playing high salaries to so many players who dont deserve it (Randy Thomas is probably one of the most overpaid player in the NFL and Portis is right up there with him. Jansen, Moss, Taylor, and Springs are also all grossly overpaid.) As a result, we cant afford to pay the players who DO deserve it and stay under the cap. |

I think the FO sees Canty as Demetric Evans on steroids (not literally). He is a younger more talented version of Philip Daniels and would be an impact player for us. On a side note I went to UVA while Canty was there and he was one of the more humble athletes at the school. Seems like he would mesh well with our locker room. |

yes I see that but if FO is planning on starting Daniels at DE at 36 years old, why not start Evans at DE instead. He can play that position. He can also play DT |
