I would be very surprised & pissed if they don't tender Golston. He's filled in more than adequately and I think overachievers like him are vital to a team. Sure he's never gonna be a pro-bowler, but he can be a decent starter or rotation guy.

well its him or montgomery we dont keep them both and rightfully so. they are good players but their not great. they could start but we could def get better.n their pretty good against the run but dont get to the qb. so well probably keep one as our 3rd and sign or draft a starter along with keeping griff

Wrong!! You keep both of these guys and get rid of Griffin. Both of these guys are young and keep getting better. They might not be starters but are pretty good in a rotation and add depth.

Sign Jordan Gross, Terrell Suggs, Darren Sproles, and Rob Bironas

How about this? One or both of these guys.
Jordan Cross
Karlos Dansby

and draft as many of these guys that we can:
Alex Mack, Duke Robinson, Everette Brown, Brandon Spikes.

Well this is the team that miraculously goes from being several millions under the cap to having enough money to sign draft picks and free agents. :)

What's Jordan Gross' incentive for coming to DC? He's a LT who we'd want to move to RT, is going to garner LT money and the position somewhere else. We're better off drafting a LT out of college and converting him with the expectation he'd replace Samuels in a couple of years.
I'm sure Suggs will be franchised by Baltimore, although he would be a great replacement for Marcus Washington.

I'm afraid Haynesworth will be like a Dana Stubblefield and fall off once he signs a fat contract. We need to build the O-line and D-line through the draft, although I'd love to see us make a run at Jordan Gross- he's an absolute beast. Sproles would be a great change of pace back along with CP, as well as a bonafide return threat (something we haven't had in awhile).

If we could get rid of aging vets on the O-line like Kendall and Jansen, add one through FA like Gross and another through the draft (Oher, Monroe, Ciron Black) and then throw in a change of pace back such as Sproles, I think our offense could be substantially improved in '09.
I absolutely quote. If there's a name that's goin' through my mind these days is exactly Jordan Gross. We arein semi-desperate need of a franchise OT, but i don't think we can afford it via draft, it would take too much time to develop. And in first round, I sincerely hope that we will pick that defensive end that we could have taken two years ago...

I don't see Carolina letting Gross go, and like you say he's a LT who would have to move to RT here. It doesn't make much sense.

our d line isnt bad but it needs to improve during passing situations. against the run their pretty good. but were are the sacks where is the pressure to get the QB to make mistakes and throw ints. somehow d line needs to be upgraded. and when was the last time our d line was health???

Will they have enough money to keep him and Peppers?

Good question, I guess it would help if we knew their cap situation.

Anybody?

Anybody?
It's feasible, but they could opt to let Peppers walk anyway because they have bigger plans for that defense.

But, yeah, flat out, they can fit both those guys under the cap if they really want to. They just found two bookend tackles, theres no way Gross is getting away from them, franchise tag or else.

What's stopping us from signing Gross, put him at LT and move Samuels to RT? This would allow us to draft inside offensive linemen (Guard or Center) and have two great players at tackle.

Here's a story from the Raleigh News & Observer regarding the Panther's offseason:

Stinging loss leads to cloudy future for Panthers - NFL Wire - News & Observer

They make it sound like it may not necessarily possible to keep both Gross and Peppers...
The quarterback situation is just one of many the Panthers must address in what will be a critical offseason for the club. Two of Carolina's best players -- defensive end Julius Peppers and offensive tackle Jordan Gross -- will be unrestricted free agents in March and figure to command a ton of interest and money if allowed to hit the open market. With seven others also set to enter free agency and not a wealth of salary-cap space at the moment, maintaining the locker-room chemistry that played a big part in the Panthers' resurgence will be another challenge for the front office to face.
