Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
This is up at skins.com:
Shawn Springs is listed as doubtful and Clinton Portis is listed as questionable for Monday night' season-opening game against the Minnesota Vikings. Springs underwent surgery on his abdomen three weeks ago and has not practiced or played in any games since the Redskins' first preseason game. If Springs is unable to play, then it is expected that veteran cornerback Kenny Wright would assume a starting role along-side Carlos Rogers. Mike Rumph and Ade Jimoh would serve in nickel packages. Portis injured his shoulder in the Redskins' first preseason game and has been sidelined ever since. If Portis is unable to play, then it is expected that Ladell Betts, T.J. Duckett and Rock Cartwright would see time at running back. The Redskins did not practice on Wednesday. The team resumes practice on Thursday afternoon and will continue to work through Saturday in preparation for the season opener. Head coach Joe Gibbs has said that he would like both Portis and Springs to see action on the practice field before determining whether to activate them for the game. The Redskins also list defensive end Renaldo Wynn as probable for Monday's game against the Vikings. Wynn is expected to return to practice later this week. Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
if portis has a news conference in a costume i think all signs point to him playing. but without him i still like us to win the game

Matty, how does John Clayton know anything more than anyone else? Or is Gibbs and the entire Redskins organization just being "caggey"? It would not surprise me that no one at Redskins park is allowed to say anything, even though they know something, but how does Clayton get scoop? I guess if he practices sometime today or tomorrow, he will play. That will be the real key. |
Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch
clayton gets the scoop because thats what he is paid to do. making phone calls and talking to people, what a job

Dmek, So Clayton has the scoop, but the Redskins are hush-hush about it all, or "not very forth coming". Very interesting. I guess it keeps everything under wraps, and the Vikings have to spend valuable time game planning, for Duckett, Betts, and Portis. Those of us with Portis on our Fantasy rosters, just wish we knew what to do before Sunday. I still say if he practices with the team Thursday or Friday, he plays. Otherwise the Skins would be stealing reps from Betts and Duckett. |
