Just about every team will have a couple of similar situations each year. And he is still there.

I don't have any issues with him not participating fully in voluntary sessions. He is making 8.5 million, would not be happy if he missed involuntary sessions, but it's his money.

As long as he stays in shape and is ready to play week 1, he's gotta do what he thinks he needs to do for his future.

Just posting for posterity's sake, Chase Young is at OTA's, not participating obviously, but he's there rehabbing.
Something seems off with Payne and his relationship w/ the front office. They paid Allen and made him a company man, yet w/ Payne nothing. He isn't in any of the promotional stuff, none of the tv ads. He wasn't in any of the stuff for the shitty rebrand and no new contract. I think that has to get to him, he's human. He sees what's going on. They don't value him like they do Allen.
Not to mention they drafted his replacement this year

We were never going to be able to give top dollar to both Allen and Payne. Allen brings more to the table as a leader and he's simply the better player at this point.

Not sure about this - they may have drafted a replacement for Settle and Ionidis, Not Payne.

For this year sure, but he's clearly earmarked to be the next starting DT next to Allen in '23. They didn't use a 2nd rounder for a rotation guy.

Regarding Terry, may I point out that he is using negotiating tactics because he is trying to get a contract extension with the Commanders for fair value. Yes people, we have here a legitimate #1 receiver who wants to be here. I repeat, he wants to be here and we need him. So, the Commanders need to quit pinching pennies and get it done. Terry, barring injury, is as close to a sure thing as we will ever have. Losing him would be gross malpractice by the Commanders.

The longer we wait, the more expensive it gets. Every time a new deal gets announced for another wide receiver the price goes up.

I'm guessing there was some miscommunication at the time when Ron said he expected Chase to be here to start - if he knew Chase's schedule called for him to be rehabbing in Colorado I'm sure he would've gave a different answer. Gotta get on the same page Ronnie.

That's good news. Will silence some noise and spare Ron some uncomfortable questions. Rather have him here than not here, and the longer he waited the worse Ron's earlier comments looked.

Should have got a deal done right after the season. You know who you got in Terry, no reason to keep waiting. They're handling this the wrong way.

People are getting hyped over these OTA practices. But good to see that Samuel is 100%. The media is gushing over the offense already. SMH...

Aka, the Redskins, WFT, Commanders, Snyder standard mode of operations.

I'm pretty sure Terry's people would not have taken any deal right after the end of the season.

I think a lot of you need to listen to Andrew Brandt's podcast. His famous saying is "deadlines spur action." In these negotiations, unless one party is willing to make major concessions to the other, a deal is not going to be made until a deadline. Which for this situation is going to be right before training camp.

That being said, I understand the skepticism from the fanbase. Especially since this is the most no brainer re-signing that the team has ever had in a long time.

I just hope that when that deadline comes, the team doesn't get too cute and end up losing Terry.
