Re: Carolina Panthers vs Washington Redskins Gameday Thread
I knew Barnes was a POS when people kept saying "he woulda been a second or first round pick if it wasnt for an injury"
big red flag for a bust. he's flat out garbage |
Re: Carolina Panthers vs Washington Redskins Gameday Thread
I think we have a good team, but our DEPTH is horrid. Once a few guys go down, or team turns into complete crap, and that's to blame on the FO for then decade of shit they put in this locker room.
I would say we have the most potential at WR/RB as far as depth, and Dline. The rest of our roster needs some serious rebuild |
Every move in football has risk, rewards and has a probability of success or failure. Folks then subjectively assign a probability to said players and then make their decisions based off that. Failures are UNAVOIDABLE in the NFL because the probability of players bombing is that high. But you can minimize that with scouting and the correct strategy to maximize returns on the players you acquire. And the best players are long-term players who provide returns for you.
You want T.O? You figure out what returns he'll give you and whether it's ****ing worth it over the other options you already. His short-term production is also going to be hindered because of his lack of practice in the offense. For the long-term here's T.O's ability to reach that "upper echelon" status and how many more years he's going to play. Well, he's never going to be what he was in his 20s anymore, so the chance of that is a big goose-egg. T.O is not likely to make it past 40; he might not even play this year. Hankerson will probably provide less in the short-term, but at least he might become SOMETHING in the long-term. It's an absolute certainty that T.O will not be playing for long in the NFL and his injury. We're a rebuilding team and need all the LONG-TERM assets we can grab. That means we should look at as many guys as possible that might provide long-term value, Hankerson being one of them. This doesn't apply only to Hank, but every rookie we draft and pick up from UDFA. They ALL have a chance at providing more long-term upside than T.O. Our strategy should about finding "franchise players", not quick fixes that don't stick for more than 3 years. If Hank bombs, fine, let's question the scouting. But I won't be scared of taking another potential WR in the 3rd round simply because Hank failed. It's a a strategy worth executing because "franchise" players are just that valuable.
I'm pretty sure I mentioned TO was a band-aid on a gaping wound. TO was never meant to be a long term option, he's meant to be a stop gap, so that next year we can focus on drafting or signing a young WR. |

id get rid of both Reed and Barnes in the offseason. their type of talent can be find on the waiver wire any day of the week |

An unknown is still an unknown. Unknown=/= failure. Rex Grossman had many games to audition for us dating back to last year. I'm willing to give Beck the same amount of games to prove his actual worth. |

Someone said Cam would go to the probowl if he played against the skins 10 more times and I was just saying Cam's been tearing up everyone, so in "defense" of the defense, let's not make it seem like a magical one-time game. |

Sarcasm? All things considered, I don't have much of a problem with Beck's performance today. Sure, he had a couple of heart-stoppers. But drops, bad route-running by the wideouts didn't help him much. The offense as a whole has been in a funk since week two no matter who the quarterback is. |

They are depth players, this team needs playmakers. The front 7 today didn't do their homework and did not bring their A game (and they are supposed to be the strength of our defense). |

After todays game it's obvious Beck is the least of our problems. Thats a scary thing to have to admit. But true. WTF happened to our D? |

I think that was known coming in. Can't fix everything in a couple off seasons. |

Agreed, Carolina has been playing well. As I said before, if they had a running game in the first couple of games, they would have a better record. Looks like they found their running game against us. |

granthpaulsenGrant Paulsen
Mike Shanahan when asked if John Beck is his starter next week: "Are you joking?" Then he said "next." |
Re: Carolina Panthers vs Washington Redskins Gameday Thread
Paulsen just said the Panterns are a underrated team and very good....F-That... How about saying your pissed you lost and it doesn't matter who you play you feel you should win.

In that case, T.O's role is to play as badly as possible so he isn't re-signed and he gets us a higher draft pick. Or, instead of T.O, we steal random PS'ers from various teams after cutting Moss, Gaffney, and Stallworthless. We also would get a higher pick and see what should stick. Rubbing salt into the wound is what would help us land that next great WR, not trying to mend it. |

Since that's probably more of an issue than the WR spot. |
