Re: 2012 NFL Free Agency Tracker
Has a single favorite landed a player this off-season? I mean lets look at this shall we?
Matt Flynn - Dolphins: Ends up with Seahawks Peyton Manning - Redskins and Dolphins: Picks Denver after narrowing down choice between Denver, Tenneesee, and San Francisco Robert Griffin III - Browns: Redskins "outbid" Browns for 2nd overall pick Tim Tebow - Jacksonville, New England, Miami: Goes to the Jets Mario Williams - Anyone but Buffalo: Goes to Buffalo Vincent Jackson - Redskins and Bears: Goes to Tampa Carl Nicks - Stay with Saints?: Goes to Tampa Eddie Royal - Redskins: Signs with Chargers Seriously can anyone think of one free agent that signed with a new team he was projected to go to? |
Re: 2012 NFL Free Agency Tracker
Not sure, maybe Alex Smith but that story wasn't lacking it's own drama.
What really baffles me is the Jets being interested. Hello don't they have Sanchez? What no trust in him. Then we hear St. Louis looked into it and balked at the money. What no trust in Bradford? if thats the case why wouldn't they just keep their #2 pick and take RG3? Now we hear the Jags are interested and were involved in talks with the Bronco's. What no trust in Blain Gabbert?
For me its not a matter of trust for RG3 its about having a great back up to step in if need be. RG1 (Rex Grossman) worries me.
Joe Namanth said he believes the Jets front office is quite bewildered and don't know what they are doing by bringing Tebow there. If Sanchez is the man, then so be it. But if Tebow, with his inaccuracy and terrible mechanics, is only back up worthy and if that's only what the Jets see in him, I have no problem with this trade. But if they are bringing him in for insurance if Sanchez messes up, then I agree with Broadway Joe. |

They just signed Drew Stanton last week to be their conventional back up |

Joe Namanth is their higher-profile Brian Mitchell. They run to that old mf-er for a quote over the slightest transaction or Jets gossip. Rex must be getting tired of the act. |

I question GM Tannebaum and I wonder what he is thinking. What is their thought process when you consider that they(1) gave Sanchez a 3 years extension and(2) signed Stanton to be the backup to Sanchez and (3) acquire Tim Tebow in a trade. Ryan and Tannebaum seem confused or either unsure of what they are doing. |
Re: 2012 NFL Free Agency Tracker
By trading for Tebow, the Jets are creating a situation that will allow their fans to crush Mark Sanchez's confidence. If Sanchez should have a poor game, Jets fans will boo him mercilessly and call for Tebow.
Jets management lacks even the slightest clue about how to develop a young QB. If I were an oddsmaker, I would say that there is a better chance that Tebow will finish the season as the Jets starter than there is that Sanchez will. |

Don't feel like starting a new thread on this but De Smith has been re-elected as NFLPA Executive Director

Oh goody, sourpuss got re-elected. Good thing he made that deal with the owners after all that talk of leverage during the lockout. |

Shocker. I'll send him a bottle of lube for the next time the owners want something from him. |

Great, Now we can get the cap sanction lifted at the owners meeting. [/end very slight misguided sarcasm and conspiratorial undertones] |

The purpose in getting a back up QB is for insurance for when your starting QB is either too injured to play or to relieve him when his play leaves much to be desired. The purpose of attaining a back up QB is not to cause controversy and dilemma on purpose. That is absolutely insane and breeds dysfunction. |

I saw about umpteen different ones. And I figured all along we would get Griffin. |
