We haven't been able to find the linebackers for a 4-3, let alone a 3-4! But it'll be the new coaching staffs call, notably the new HC. If he picks a 3-4 DC, then they'll find a way to make the 3-4 work. If they do though, I have to wonder how they make the Payne-Allen combo work? |
Re: Commanders v. Dallas Post Game Thread
The problem with 3-4 is there are not enough true nose tackles out there, where as DTs are easy to find. You better start appreciating position flexibility if 3-4 is the way of the future.

Because Snyder hired idiots to make decisions. Everything is on the table now because he is gone and it can never be that bad in the FO again. That isn’t even a possibility. We just got rid of the biggest idiot in NFL history. |
Re: Commanders v. Dallas Post Game Thread
This 3-4 vs 4-3 talk is just nonsense when we play nickel like half the time anyways lol.

110% Most of the league is in a base nickel |
Re: Commanders v. Dallas Post Game Thread
I think the argument is do we want 4 or 3 up front. Both are options in the nickel.

Re: Commanders v. Dallas Post Game Thread
Yep, do we want 4-2 or 3-3? One would suggest we need virtually a whole new core of LB's to build a unit that can cover underneath. Or indeed a full core if Davis is beyond redemption.

I honestly feel that no one would be talking about LBs if the damn defensive line would live up to its hype and do their damn job. Yes, we need better LBs, but it's not like every team has an all-pro at all LB positions. If we get a DC that can come and get more production out of the d-line, I feel like a lot of issues will get easier to resolve. I also want a defensive coordinator that will come and fix these damn communication issues in the secondary, which have been a problem since the previous coaching regime. |
Re: Commanders v. Dallas Post Game Thread
Major problem we've had is the weakness with coverage by the LB's, and the DL has nothing to do with coverage. Davis is athletic enough, but can he learn to cover? Same goes for Hudson who was expected to improve this year (yeah, poor coaching may be behind his stagnation too). Beyond those 2, there's nobody I'd entertain keeping with better options in FA or the draft. So we likely need to bring in at least 2 quality replacements at LB.
But yeah, we need to find an edge too. Hopefully an equivalent or upgrade on Sweat, who, lets face it, wasn't bad. |
Howell? Forbes?
Overlooked Forbes - yes with a personal trainer so he doesn’t maintain his bowtruckle status. And Howell for sure - didn’t identify QB as a position of need. With an actual OL, I suspect he’ll be a lot better. This season is his Ted Lasso season - smells like potential. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It can be done.......we have the D linemen.....Allen and Payne played in it at Bama and their first few years in Washington.....the tricky part would be getting the right edge rushers and the correct backers in the middle. The right GM can put it together. |

Exactly. TE’s must get giant hard ons when they play us. |

Tight end + hard on, what a combination...

This honestly looks like a mediocre college defense. Absolutely sickening that this is what Ron Rivera has constructed on defense in four years. He hired Jack and put this D together. My God he has no business any where near an NFL team. |
