Curtis Samuel shit is just mind numbing
Heard an interview the other day ... guy seemed to be a good guy, sounded like he loves football.

Did he get re-injured/new event today or are we reacting to him being limited for general soreness and conditioning like Ron has been saying since last week?

I was wondering the same thing. I didn't see anything about him being reinjured, just that they are taking it slow with him.
Wentz is in his first camp here, still learning the offense. The o-line has 2 new starting guards (along with whoever is filling in for Roullier) going against a loaded front 4 who have years of experience playing together.

Who do you think would have the edge there?
Loaded front four? lol. I'd say an average front 4.

It's really weird. Ron said it's about just "following the plan" and taking it slow and all... and at the same time said it wasn't related to his injury from last season, mentioned sore hamstring and lower back... Really mind boggling. Listening to him I got the feeling he was trying to be nice and not throw Curtis under the bus, but this reeked of "the guy is never going to be truly available"...

Sounds like Ron is covering for him, saying it's the lack of conditioning, whatever. Whatever it is - if he has another injury or he needs to work himself into shape - I'm not counting on him for any significant snaps this year. It's unfortunate but barring a huge season from him I expect him to be cut next offseason - doing it right now would be a liability with that 19 million dead cap hit but next offseason that number drops to 7 million dead cap.

Brace yourselves but CS is in full pads today and practicing.

Somebody better brace him - put him in a bubble or something.

Is this according to “the plan” Rivera and the trainer masterminded?

I just want to see Curtis playing at a high level again. His explosiveness is needed

Heard Michael Phillips make this point about CS, he may end up being another DeSean Jackson type of player in that you can't rely on him for 17 games and you just have to manage his health as you go and be ok with that.

Obviously you just hope last year was a worst case scenario.

Good to hear this on Davis from Rivera

On LB Jamin Davis's progression:

"Very happy with it. You see a lot of good and positive things from Jamin right now. He's much more comfortable with what we're doing and how we're doing it. He's picked up the way we do things in terms of reads and drops. Reading through his drops and understanding the concepts is really big and he's done a nice job with that. So very pleased with that. As with [LB] Cole [Holcomb], he has done a nice job stepping into the Mike [MLB] position from the start. Last year he was more a Will [OLB] for us. Then when JB [form Washington LB Jon Bostic] got injured we moved him to the Mike [MLB] and he really showed very well. Now's an opportunity to work on that skill set and he's done a very good job. When [LB David] Mayo's gotten his opportunity. Dave's a big physical guy. Today was a good day for Dave. We did a lot of our big defensive stuff. So he got an opportunity."

what it sounds like is Samuel isn't in football shape according to Ron. this guy has had an entire off season and then some to get his body right. coming out of the gate he can't even get through a few camps practices.

ron should have told him that come training camp you had better be ready to go. no excuses. be in the best shape of your life. all ron is doing is covering for him saying we have a plan. what is the plan? lol.

i'd go w/ the other guys and would start phasing him out. then we'll see if he wants to get his body right.

Not in football shape... definitely calling BS there. It's an excuse and a weak one at that. Remember back when Shanahan called out McNabb and Haynesworth for not being in football shape? It's coach speak for there's more to this situation than I want to get into.

Given our cap situation next year, if Dotson and Brown are half as good in real games as they appear in practice then Samuel is toast next offseason whatever he does

Guys I’ve heard been turning serious heads in camp: Fuller, Cosmi, Cole Turner, Dotson

Also heard praise about JD Mac, Ben St Jus, Dyami Brown

Now that I'm almost over my bout with Covid and I have just enough energy to do something besides sleep, I naturally decided to come on here and bitch about the makeup of our football squad.

You know who's pissing me off right now? Ron Rivera. Because he acts like he has forever to get this team set up to be a playoff team. I think we're close enough to be able to make a trade or two to pick up a couple of savvy veterans to shore up our weak areas and help us make the playoffs this season. So, he needs to shift into a higher gear and get some deals done now.

We're loaded with jags at some positions, just hanging around picking up a paycheck. So, cut some of them now and run as many tryout players as necessary through the system to find one or two who have enough desire to come in, perform with maximum effort, and take a backup position. Who knows, we might get lucky.
