Someone's ironic humor meter must be on the fritz. That was a parody of all of the 'wildcat QB/WR' suggestions athletic but inaccurate black QB face. Locker is like a Caucasian Brad Smith. (again, a joke just in case of inflamed feelings) |
Re: Was Jamie Dukes out of line on Ryan Mallett?
There is a double standard with statements because of history. A certain race had been enslaved for a bit of time. Just because slavery is over doesn't mean all the reminants are gone. Hence why people get more upset over racist statements towards black people.
Pretty much every general race (Black, White, Asian, Arabic, etc) has been enslaved at some point. I know back in the middle ages the British used their Irish neighbors as a supply for slaves. A hundred years or so later they found out Africa had more supply, not to mention it would be harder for a black person to hide then a white Irish slave that could blend in. Romans likely made peasants from every conquered territory slaves.
From 1641 to 1652, over 500,000 Irish were killed by the English and another 300,000 were sold as slaves. Ireland’s population fell from about 1,500,000 to 600,000 in one single decade. Families were ripped apart as the British did not allow Irish dads to take their wives and children with them across the Atlantic. This led to a helpless population of homeless women and children. Britain’s solution was to auction them off as well. During the 1650s, over 100,000 Irish children between the ages of 10 and 14 were taken from their parents and sold as slaves in the West Indies, Virginia and New England. In this decade, 52,000 Irish (mostly women and children) were sold to Barbados and Virginia. Another 30,000 Irish men and women were also transported and sold to the highest bidder. In 1656, Cromwell ordered that 2000 Irish children be taken to Jamaica and sold as slaves to English settlers.
|

How do you think that's accurate? Just because of the media or the way he talks? Cmon man that's bush league
yes i do think the combination of his actions, reports on him, and the way he talks gives validity to the statement. I don't think dukes phrased it in the best way but I think his message most definitely has validity to it. |

Charley Caserly, presently of NFLN, compares him favorably to Jeff George. Extraordinary arm, but heavy feet.

Not to mention the Egyptians (dark skinned people from North Africa) enslaved Jews. Rival tribes in Africa routinely kept captured enemies as slaves as recently as the 19th century. Today children from various developing countries are sold and kept throughout richer countries. It's not going to end any time soon. On topic, I'm glad NFLN isn't forcing Dukes to apologize. I thought it was funny watching Waddle make fun of him for referencing Vanilla Ice. |
Re: Was Jamie Dukes out of line on Ryan Mallett?
I don't why when ever there's any racial discussion going on Whites always have to play the Jessie Jackson Al Sharpton card. There's plenty of White racial ambulance chasers too. Especially Rush Limbaugh. Here's an example.
Obama's America, white kids getting beat up on school buses now. You put your kids on a school bus, you expect safety but in Obama's America the white kids now get beat up with the black kids cheering
From Kids on Bus to Kanye West: Race Rules All in Obama's America Also, Fox News says racist stuff about Blacks all day long. So to say there's a "double" standard is rediculous. As If Blacks are the only ones who make politically incorrect statements. YouTube - Fox Attacks: Black America Now I don't see any of you self righteous defenders of parity condeming what's happenign on the other side of the political spectrum. Also, as for the NFL network. I get sick and tired of them questioning the mental dexterity of Black QB's. All of the criticisms center around the mental and psycological aspects of the position. I've never heard a White QB on their get critisized for their ability to "read-defenses" or "study his playbook". |
Re: Was Jamie Dukes out of line on Ryan Mallett?
^ really ? So they didnt say tebow struggled reading defense and his mechanics were very bad? Because I could have swore they did. I agree with the black QB crap but in all fairness historically they aren't very accurate passers, Moon was phenomenal but for instance look at it today, Vick? mcnabb? Garrard? I mean those guys have struggled with comp % through out their career . I'm all for black QBs I could care less what color they are but don't say the networks are just dogging them for nothing.

"I'm all for black QBs, I could care less what color they are but don't say the networks are dogging them for nothing" BTW, Garrard has been over 60% every year he has started. |
Re: Was Jamie Dukes out of line on Ryan Mallett?
^ 60% is good? JC is better than that
|
Re: Was Jamie Dukes out of line on Ryan Mallett?
JC is 60% for his career and seeing that Garrard has been 64%, 62%, 64% and 60% twice I would hardly call him inaccurate, and yes 5+ years of 60% and over is good.
|
Re: Was Jamie Dukes out of line on Ryan Mallett?
^ it's decent not horrible but nothing special either. I'd take JC over garrard

And I would fire you as a GM. So 64% is "decent?" How many QBs are pulling in 70% passing accuracy? |
Re: Was Jamie Dukes out of line on Ryan Mallett?
^ not many but how many QBs are elite? Only a few , and back to Mallett I'm not a fan of his btw I wad just saying how unfair he's being treated and no one comes to his defense
