Re: A look back at the 2008 draft
For comparison sake i thought it would be nice to look at Denver's and Tampas 2008 draft. We had the 21st pick while Denver had 12 so obviously you would think that the overall talent level would be higher but since we swapped so much and had 3 picks in the 2nd I think everyone minus Ryan Clady was basically obtainable (for comparison sake) for us. Tampa had the 20th pick.
Denver Ryan Clady (lt) - An absolute beast LT I hope TW does as well. Eddie Royal (wr) decent receiver Kory Lichtensteiger (c/g) cut now w/ us Jack Williams (cb) dont really know anything about him I think hes a nickel corner though Ryan Torain (rb) cut now w/ us Carlton Powell (dt) blew his achilies in training camp his first year, most recently with the UFL Spencer Larsen (olb/fb) seems like a Lorenzo Alexander type Josh Barrett (safety) backup safety stolen by the patriots when he went though ir waivers Peyton Hillis (rb) not sure what happened to him?? Tampa Aqib Talib (cb) - beast corner with anger management issues Dexter Jackson (wr) cut, bust receiver drafted because of his speed Jeremy Zuttah (c) upgrade over Rabach Dre Moore (dt) I remember a lot of people wanting him around here. We can still get him; hes on Jacksonville PS Josh Johnson (qb) backup QB Geno Hayes (lb) decent lb Cory Boyd (rb) cut, Shanahan checked him out after he was released and subsequently released him. Currently in the CFL Also something that really pissed me and a lot of other people off about our 2008 draft was that every single player earned a roster spot on our team. I remember being absolutely pissed when Leigh Torrance was released and Tyron was kept. I think the same was true with a lot of people when we kept Brooks over Frost, when Frost preformed a little better then Brooks in preseason. I dont think this realyl tells us anything, other then reconfirming the notion that Shanahan knows how to draft RB's but i think its neat to look at.
lolllllll. |
Re: A look back at the 2008 draft
Not too surprisingly, with Orakpo and Rocky hurt, and PD going on IR, Rob Jackson has been added to the active roster. I don't know what they see in him really, but I hope he can show something these last two games

Poor fella must be a Josh McDaniels cocksucker. |
I hate looking back at the 2008 draft. Especially every time Desean Jackson catches a 50 yard pass.
It could probably be a bit easier if 1) we had a guy that could hit a WR in stride on a go route or 2) we utilized a TE that can turn a 5 yard route into a 20 yard gain speaking of playmaking ability, where have Cooley's opportunities been? maybe he wouldn't mind a trade so much now as he would've with the rumors last offseason |

Maybe he got traded? If he did I doubt it matters, it's not like he rejuvenated anybody's running game or scored a touchdown in like 8 straight games. |
Re: A look back at the 2008 draft
It is really hard to judge players coming out of college. Especially WRs. They face on average 2-3 decent/good DBs a year. In the NFL, they are going to face a good/excellent DB 15-16 times a year. College ball can easily make a average joe look stellar.

Could you imagine the difference he could of made for our season? With him, you can have a poor OL like we do and still have a running game |

Man I wish we had traded for him, especially with Shanny knowing him like he does. He had a decent season in Denver in '08, it's just Josh McDaniels didn't like him for w/e reason so he got sent to Cleveland. Now Cleveland is set at qb and rb with McCoy and Hillis for the next few years it looks like. I would much rather have a guy like Hillis on our roster as opposed to Keiland Williams this season. No disrespect to K.Will but Hillis has really improved his stock this season. |

Williams is a change of pace, blocking and receiving back.. |

True but I'd rather have both Torain and Hillis than Torain and Williams, just because Torain has injury issues. The point is moot anyways because I doubt Hillis will be leaving Cleveland any time soon. |

Not do sure about that. Not taking away from him but the Browns have a very solid OL |

Agree that they have a VERY solid Oline. In fact they seem to have a lot of nice pieces to build on, it is sad when the Browns might be closer to being a truly quality team than the Redskins. Oh well, you fall down so you can learn to get back up right? We will be dominate again! |
