Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
1st I wasn't bashing Vinny. I actually am happy with his last 2 drafts. O-lineman aside.
2nd I think we all know they could sign whoever they wanted. Maybe even 4 field goal kickers if they wanted. I just think we were supprised that an O-lineman was not picked up considering they started the season with 8 and obviously the team thought they needed 8, now were at 7. I guess the team is actually happy with Rinehart which is a good sign.
Why sign a O-Lineman if there are no O-lineman out there better than what we have on our roster. I think if there was a O-Lineman out worthy to help us we would bring him in. Quality O-lineman don't just sit around 32 teams would be signing them in a heart beat. We signed Alridge because he brings speed to the RB positon. |
Was this sarcasm? I second that worst post of the day nomination as well, even if this post wasn't intentionally sarcastic. I've heard some shit but this is so far beyond the normal dose of "crazy stupidity" on this board that I actually can't tell.
And I agree SGG, it's hard not to like Alridge's speed but how often he fumbles concerns me. I think this move is gonna precede another one. I just don't see why JZ would carry 5 backs on the roster.
Didnt Santana Moss just fumble againts the Rams. People fumbles happen in the game of football, just hope its not very often. Even L.T. fumbled against the Raiders and he had carried the rock over 900 attempts and fumbled. So stop worrying about 2 fumbles that Alridge had. |
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
Welcome back Alridge
I think this kid needs a chance to show what he can do with the rock in his hands. The Texans have a simular RB now and thats the kid from West Virgina ( Steve Slaton). I like the move so what do we do with 5 RB? Do we look for a trade partner for Betts, or do we cut Mason or Rock. I cant see us carrying 5 RB to long on the roster. Alridge can't help us unless he sees the field so lets hope Zorn will get him the ball either on special teams or the offense. |
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
you sign an olineman becuase our o line is aged and injury prone. it bit us last year and it will bite us again this year if we don't do something.
please tell me we are gonna ship overpaid betts somewhere and pick up another fatty bring kendall back or something. if we don't we will wish we did |
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
The team loses an offensive lineman for the year and they sign a 5th running back? I quit trying to make sense of the Redskin moves. This organization is just as dysfunctional as the Raiders. I hope for the best but I'm scratching my head again. This makes about as much sense as signing an offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator before searching for a head coach. No experienced head coach wants the job, so you offer the head coaching job to the guy you named offensive coordinator. The only problem is, this offensive coordinator has no experience running an offense or team. Scratching my head, scratching my head...

Well this may sound crazy but...we can't seem to run between the tackles....and I don't think any of our backs has the speed to get around the edge quick enough to make any positive plays. I think and hope that this can help our offense a bit. And once again, I may sound crazy, but I don't mind the team taking its time to sign an o-lineman...I mean we all know what happened with knee-jerk reactions (i.e. Duckett and Jason Taylor). Furthermore, with this o-line business, I can't believe some people are not practicing what they preach (build through the draft, blah blah blah!). |
Im thinking Betts before Rock, at least Rock will tackle someone on coverage teams. Does anyone think a team will give up anything for either Rock and/or Betts?
I'll trade you an old George Foreman grill for Betts...lol |
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
quoting one post that none of our backs have the speed to hit the corner ........................ uhhhhh i dunno bout that and we'd be in serious trouble if we couldnt hit a effin pitch out here and there .... the play-calling on the plays u describe as not-working just shows how terrible the timing is on the play-calls...
plus i remember CP hitting the edge a few times in the past 2 weeks. |

Ever pay attention to moves around the league? Guys go on IR and teams don't always sign the same position to replace them. |
Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
Good call AMD!
Interesting move. Didn't really make sense to bring in another lineman because they would just sit on the bench. At least with Alridge he can play teams. I suppose it's likely that Mason will return to the inactive roster for now. Though Rock can't feel too good, especially after he was just told that moving forward he will be sharing kick return responsibilities with Devin Thomas. But the most interesting part of this move...which head coach is on the hot seat?....and who is a rumored former head coach to replace him?....and which former head coach rumored to replace current head coach on the hot seat highly recommended Anthony Alridge to the Redskins? Just saying |

Injury prone perhaps (Samuels, Rinehart) but it's definitely a younger line. |

Re: Welcome back Anthony Alridge.........
I feel like AA brings something that we did not have before, a true change of pace back. I dont agree with signing an aging replacement in Kendall. Rinehart and both Williams' have been inactive on Sundays, it makes sense to plug one of them into the opening. Rinehart makes sense, its a guy that we drafted, and have groomed for this occurence. If we did sign another lineman at this point, he would only be sitting the bench anyways. If there was someone out there that would start in front of Rinehart/Williams/Williams he would be here already.
But....no way do we need 5 running backs, there has gotta be a trade in the works. |

I totally agree with you, but I'll play devil's advocate.....Kendall knows the offense already. I think thats why people are even mentioning his name. |
