Re: Anthony Mix Must Be Our Man
I just wanted to post this info on what Cerrato said about Mix. It came from JLC.
Cerrato is excited about the potential of wide receiver Anthony Mix (6-5, 235 pounds), who was signed off the New York Giants' practice squad in November. But Mix, a college teammate of Campbell at Auburn, has played in only nine games in his two-year pro career and has three receptions for 39 yards.
|
Re: Anthony Mix Must Be Our Man
Its good to hear something about him from someone other than us. I was begining to think all the quiet was causing us to go crazy!
The only reason I made that comparison was to show that sometimes guys who you think are nothing more than scrubs, rise above and become good players in the NFL. I'm not saying Mix is the next A.P., far from it. I don't personally care if Mix ends up being worthless or if he becomes a good player for us, because I'm not on the "Mix is our guy" bandwagon.
It just sounds to me like you refuse to believe that some guy who you don't have a great impression of has the ability to cut it in this league. Besides what you have really seen of AM to give you this impression? You are just going off what you've heard, which is really to say nothing at all because there haven't been any reports of any kind about how Mix is faring in the NFL so far. Let me say again I'm not on the "Mix is the next Rice" bandwagon, but I'm not ruling it completely out that some day in this league he could be a productive player. And when I say productive player I'm not implying a productive starter, simply a guy who can contribute moreso than other guys at his position.
it's not the player, it's the hype and talk like he's going to have a randy moss type year guaranteed. yes, he might be good, but the odds are VERY VERY heavily against it, yet how many "mix is teh best evar!" threads have we seen since the end of another terribly unproductive year for him? that's all. |
Re: Anthony Mix Must Be Our Man
I like Anthony Mix. He should be utilized a little more then just special teams. That play in Seattle was nasty and he was a tackling machine on special teams, in particular theChicago game. If remember correctly he ROCKED dEVIN hESTER

It's basically like going after a Long term relationship with a girl you don't know just because she has big tits and a nice backside. Look if you're not going to get to know her then at least go for the one night stand.
The expectations for a guy like Mix are way to high. Antonio Gates had to get 324 yards during his rookie year before fans started putting the same type of hype into him as some of you seem to be doing for Mix. I'm sure the guy appreciates it, but damn! You know what this is how I feel about "Mix mania." If only you guys hadn't hyped him up so much then I wouldnt have type with my feet. |

Oh my friggin GOD, that was funny. Matty and SS, get this guy on the payroll because that Extreme conversation was comedic genius!
Lol, thank you. Though I would appreciate not be held to a standard so high as comedic genius. The funniest part is that I looked at it today and thought "maybe I was a little rough on ExtremeSkins. They can't be THAT bad. Can they?" Then I found this on an Anthony Mix thread. "I love Mix in Madden. He actually is my go-to guy. I use Tana as a decoy. everyone doubles him and then leaves it one on one for this 6 foot 5 monster. He makes some sick one handers." The best jokes are the one's you can't make up. |

It probably took him a couple of weeks to download AS's 700 page playbook anyway. Based on the circumstances, I don't think he had a "terribly unproductive year". Let's not let the pendulum swing too far the other way and make this guy out to be Brandon Lloyd. Those of us that like the potential of Mix (not the ES / Madden version, BTW Dirtbag's ES post was hilarious) hope to see him developing into a Red Zone threat and solid possession guy, anything more is gravy. If he doesn't develop, we haven't lost anything, he's on the low end of the pay scale and we didn't give up anything to get him. |

Re: Anthony Mix Must Be Our Man
Well, unless there is a blockbuster trade , it's time to get on the Mix wagon.

Burl Toler! ;) Actually, should we be paying a little more attention to Billy McMullen? He's a big receiver, has experience in the West coast offense. He's been a bit of a disappointment overall but he's proven more at this level than Mix: Billy McMullen: McMullen arrived in Minnesota from Philadelphia in a trade for Vikings free agent receiver Hank Baskett. Vikings new head coach Brad Childress had a familiarity with McMullen and his receiving skills from their years together with the Eagles as well as McMullen's understanding of his offensive system. McMullen provides a big target with his tall frame and long arms allow him to outreach shorter defenders. McMullen's limited quickness hurts him when facing press coverage as he does not do well against the jam. McMullen is a long strider that sometimes struggles to accelerate out of his breaks but can close on a defender in off coverage deceptively fast. McMullen has decent game speed yet lacks the second gear to separate on vertical routes. McMullen uses his body well against defenders and has good ball skills attacking at the highest point with his long reach. McMullen has worked himself into the lineup with consistency as a receiver and great effort as a blocker as well as making plays when afforded the opportunity. Billy McMullen is a solid wide receiver that is smart enough to properly operate a complex offensive system and enough talent to provide quality depth to a receiving corps. |

Mix wasn't stuck behind Plax. Why didn't he get in as the 2nd or 3rd wr?? IMO he just wasn't good enough. I wouldn't even call him the black Joe J. cause Joe J. has AT LEAST shown some production. Outside of teams Mix hasn't shown me anything. |
Re: Anthony Mix Must Be Our Man
whatever happened to Jeremy Bloom? I picked him up on Madden (in other words, take this whole post with a grain of salt) and I strait up kill DBs with him as #4 WR in the slot.

Re: Anthony Mix Must Be Our Man
Hey, when I posted this thread alot of people said I was crazy. But, after seeing the Redskins not going after a reciever, felt they must think that Mix can be the guy. Well, Zorn is saying just that.
