I meant used games.

It has been confirmed that the "restriction" on used games means that Microsoft will charge a fee for you to play a used game, much like EA's now defunct "Online Pass" deal. So you will need a Live subscription, pay for the used game you want to play and then pay an extra, as yet undetermined, fee to play your game. As I understand it, this "pass" is only good for your account so no letting your friends borrow the used game and play it unless they also pay the fee for their account.

WTF were they thinking? Didn't they catch a clue from the horrible press that EA has received the past year? Are you shitting me? Our system won't play a used game unless you pay us a fee? They are single handily killing this platform before it even begins. You wonder why corporations go belly up? It's because morons are running the company. I sure as hell won't be getting one.

You have a source for this confirmation by the way?

I just found it in a post on another site but it seems legit because MS won't give a official word; maybe they are back peddling.
I can't get over how many people (Xbox fanboys/girls included) have already thrown it under the bus and said they're switching over to PS4. I'm a Sony fangirl so I was planning on going for the PS4 anyway, I just don't understand all of the hate.

Is it the TV thing? Is it because when they unveiled it they only pushed sports games? (I heard this complaint a lot) Is it because indie developers can't publish their games on the Xbox One? Seriously, I don't get it.
People are ridiculous. Always something to bitch and complain about.

It looks like they have a huge reason to be bitching.

Obviously any of this is.

It just seems that this Xbox is moving away from it's core audience; actually gamers and trying to branch out into too many outlets. Which probably equates to more money but leaves the hard core gamer with a bad taste in his/her mouth.

They keep harping on the voice activation you can do that now with Kinect and you sound like a retard yelling at your TV telling it to do something.

It's obvious with the way the 360 was heading that they were going to focus this next system on being an all in one entertainment box. Hardware wise it sounds powerful enough to appeal just fine to gamers too. I just think its silly to be complaining about things we haven't even gotten our hands on yet.

Fair enough.

to be honest I am kind of out of the video game world but like to keep tabs. I just simple don't have the time to dive into games anymore.

It will be a long time coming if ever I see a Xbox 1 or a PS4.

That's how things are fixed prior to a products release. It's better the base complain now, and they adjust, than to put out the hardware without a way to change it and lose sales/reputation.

EA was told by many many groups and customers not to do a DRM online with Sim City 5. They didn't listen, the customer base responded by voting them the worst corporation in America for two years in a row. Needless to say, that CEO didn't last long after that.

Lol, WiiU. I guess he was right though about having a choice. Microsoft would be smart to kill off speculation ASAP of the 24 hour check in and the used game activation fee. Especially after the Windows 8 debacle. They've garnered a certain reputation of being the company that doesn't listen or rather the one that has to be dragged kicking and screaming before giving into what customers want.

Also LMAO at EA Sports. They virtually used a slightly upgraded version of the Madden 06 trailer to showcase their next gen lineup.

Meh. The only thing that got me excited from that trailer is the UFC game. NBA Live has always been second fiddle to 2K's NBA game, and I doubt that's going to change. Also taking into account its been YEARS since EA has put out an NBA game simply because they never could get their ish together.

And we all know about Madden.

FIFA has always been a strong franchise, that should be interesting if you're into soccer.

Overall though, meh.

Re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)

It takes several years before developers are able to make great games for new systems. Plus they meaning the developers have to appeal to the masses and for the most part the masses have Xbox 360 and PS3. It is even more so true this go around because Ps3 and 360 have had the longest life spans of any console.
