Keenum probably isn't coming here. Why would he leave his situation in Minnesota to come here? Makes no sense. He's playing on one of the best teams in the league.
i wonder if case keenums success this year has jg and ba thinking colt can do the same.

It’s been a while but i got the impression early on that jay preferred colt over kirk.

Colt might be a solid back up plan if jay was right.
Then again, gruden thinks ryan grant is as good as julio jones....

Teddy is a back half QB. We would be going from a top 10 to 20 or 25. No thank you.

Alex Smith and Case Keenum are the only options and they are a step back to KC.

KC is not going any where. The only question is how much is it going to cost us, today's over payment is tomorrows bargain. They could make him the highest paid QB tomorrow and then Rodgers or the next QB deal will pass him. Sign a today tier "15 or 20" RB and we are a 10 - 12 win team. We went 7 - 9 with 20 players on IR. Starting WR, TE, RB, 3rd down back, LT, LG, C, and 3 string RB. This does not include all defensive players. The year sucked and we blew few and won a few we should not. Next year will be better if we sign KC.
I agree. IMO KC is staying here and its only a matter of how much it costs. Like you say, today's over payment is tomorrow's bargain. Why didn't they sign KC back when they could for what $20M? Because it was too expensive. Now everyone is saying what a bargain that would have been.
This situation sucks. My opinion literally changed for the 1000th time as I started typing this.

Don't see Kirk ever winning a SB. To me that outweighs everything. I'd rather take my chance on a rookie QB and tons of cap space to bring some younger vets in.

Yes, he's the best we've had in a long time, but if the best we have is 9ish wins and a 1st round exit, then that does nothing for me. If you ain't 1st you're last.

Its a gamble going with a rookie, but so is locking into a 5 year expensive contract with a 30 year old qb that hasn't consistently shown he can win when it counts.
Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl with 12 tds 11 int. 1,500 yds. The Redskins could be very successful with KC at QB, he just needs a much better supporting cast....RB, WR and a great defense. He is not Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers, but most of the fans expect a two minute drive to win every game.

It is a moot point though, there is little evidence KC wants to stay in DC.

Unless he just bombs and they get bounced out of the playoffs quick I don’t see them letting Keenum go. He’s earned the job and a nice extension.

That would be the smartest decision.
But I'm losing hope. Jay has been a Kirk supporter, and now he's starting to pin the 7-9 season on him ? Nonsense! He's the reason we're not 3 and 13 with all the injuries!

So this tells me Jay:

A) doesn't believe in Kirk anymore (hardly credible)

B) knows the FO doesn't believe in Kirk enough to pay him (pretty credible)

Jay has never been one to give glowing reviews so ultimately I’ll chalk it up to that.

As far as Kirk not wanting to be here I don’t know about that. I think he just wants to feel wanted and he hasn’t felt that yet. AKA show him the $$. I don’t even think he cares about being the highest paid, he just wants an offer in the ballpark.

IMO people are reading waaaay too much into JG's comments. He knows KC is his guy and if KC leaves next year will be another losing season and his final year as Skins head coach.

I always wondered this: do you think he gets pressure from other players/QBs to take the most possible so the price keeps rising? He's a stand-up guy, so I don't see that effecting him, but I do wonder if it's a factor.

I think that sort of pressure may come more from the agent side of things. And ultimately what he does isn’t going to throw off the entire market so I think any pressure of that type is minimal.

That's how I see it. It's Jay being Jay.

As far as Kirk goes, I can't help but think of some other destinations that look nicer than DC. I'd maybe take a ski trip out to Colorado and explore a few options if I were him.

You should have seen the Bronco's fan message boards light up about going after KC after the win against Denver.

From Adam S. " Denver and Washington appear to be the main players in the KC race" He also said Denver is willing to pay BIG money.

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?

The signing to watch is the one for Jimmy G. In SF, I believe he will be signed and not franchised. They are talking Stafford money, in the 8 games he has played, I believe he won all of them, his accuracy, release and decision making are Brady like and the 49ers had 21 players on IR (one more then the Redskins).

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?

I'm getting to the point that any of the 2 options are fine with me. I really just want it over with:

1. Sign his ass to a long term deal (49%)

2. Trade or let his ass walk and draft rookie (51%)

As long as its not a another 1 year tag situation. For all things good in the world, please don't do this to us again.
