NT's? I mean we have some solid NT's now as it is. Theres some good ones in the draft, but thats not a bigger need than secondary, OL, ILB, WR, 3rd string RB, etc. |
we need some real fat on the nose. how many legit tubs are in the draft this year?
At least 3 high rounders who we would be lucky to have a shot at in the third round. After the third round, you're either taking a big guy and hoping to teach him to be good, or you're taking a smaller guy with the skill set (like Neild) and asking him to put on weight for the role.
The three are Poe, Memphis Ta'amu, Washington Chapman, Alabama |

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency Tracker
What happend to Aaron ross? Haven't heard where he is or what he's doing.
Side note: I'm glad we traded for RG3 more and more because Matt Flynn signed with Seattle not miami like expected. Would have cost more had Miami of know this and manning. |
Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency Tracker
Bowen and Carriker without question. In Cofield's case, the group of "nose tackles" is so small and exclusive that it's hard to say he was below average. I thought he performed adequately.
Cofield was below average as far as as all defensive tackles go, but that might have just been an effect of the scheme, i.e. he's doing the job of two men in a 4-3 scheme. Same with Carriker and Bowen I suppose, although Bowen wore down considerably after a hot start. He wasn't good at all when we had that long losing streak. I wouldn't pick any of the five as not NFL caliber. I think it's just mostly a group of available guys, and Jenkins, the prospect who hasn't played a snap yet.
Bowen and Carriker did combine for 11.5 sacks. |

Matt Flynn to Seattle

link coming
Its in the NFL thread already. |
Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency Tracker
I think Chris Neild will be our Jay Ratliff, late round pick turned Pro Bowler.

I actually think Neild was already decent. Always seemed like whenever he got play time, he got more push than Cofield did. |
Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency Tracker
he's got the goods, i just enjoy seeing a 330+ pounder over the center. all guts

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency Tracker
Bowen and Carriker did combine for 11.5 sacks.
Orakpo and Kerrigan's sack numbers look a lot more reasonable if you consider that they were the ones who earned those additional sacks. But like I said in another thread, someone has to be there to clean up, or the QB gets the pass off.

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency Tracker
kerrigan's strategy is solid. get under the pads, drive them back into their own qb, and get a hand on the ball when possible

I'd like to see us use more traditional 4 man fronts, especially with hybrid defenses being all the rage in the league now a days. Just every now and then it would be nice to see both Kerrigan and Orakpo lining up as traditional defensive ends with their hands in the dirt and two DT's inside (presumably Carriker and Cofield). I know we run 4 man fronts some times but thats usually with Orakpo and Kerrigan in a two point stance. |
Their recent history is they haven't won a playoff game since 1993, and they just finished last in the worst division in football.
*edit-sorry I quotted the wrong person
Does being obtuse win you an award? They still finished with a better record (7-9) than us, and the players who led their team to a division title a couple years back is still mostly intact. And being in a weak division cuts both ways. It means it's easier to make the playoffs for everyone involved. |
