Assuming this definitely means the end of the Chris Thompson era. I'll miss him. Go Noles!
Trufant to the Lions. What it going to take to trade for Darius Slay?
Too much in draft capital and cash. As Ruhskins said, we're not a likely contender in RR year 1, so why break the bank now? Build via the draft.

We've brought back Fuller and if we are after Breeland then why pay high for Slay? Not comparing him talentwise, but we did that with Norman it it didn't make a big difference because of deficiencies elsewhere, including coaching. We need to build up a team not just throw money at it.

It’s been a measured and thought out free agency so far. Contributing young talent. Veteran LB to lead the young lb core. Sean Davis will be auditioning for a bigger contract with us...he will be a key player to watch.

Missing out of bigger targets, we should get that extension done with Schreff with that money.

Like us to get Sanders to mentor the young WR group.

Moving Trent now would be great so we can sign a decent replacement now while trying to draft the future.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020

I'm fine w/ us staying pat at wr. We got 3-4 young guys that got a chance to play. You can't take Terry and Sims off the field because they have earned the right to be starters. You can argue that Sims, (an undrafted FA out of that powerhouse Kansas) was our best wr at the end of last season. So I'm coming back w those guys, plus Harmon, Cam Sims and maybe draft a guy in the mid or later rounds. Glad Cooper stayed w/ the Cowboys. Don't need to pay a stat guy who isn't clutch 20 mil per.

Two guys in limbo that I haven't heard anything about are Trey Quinn and Ryan Anderson.

Quinn can't possibly still be the starter in the slot with Simms performance last year, so what do we do with him?

With all of these linebackers we have been signing, the local beat reporters are mentioning how Holcomb and SDH fit the new defence but not a word on whats happening to Ryan Anderson... another wasted 2nd round pick ?

Anyone is better than Montae. He is the worst safety in the league. Never heard of this guy but probably an instant upgrade.

Seen reports that his tackling is a little suspect, though he did have a shoulder injury last year, so he maybe Montae 2.0. In the other hand at least he doesn't appear to have the off field issues and although he does miss tackles I haven't seen reports of him giving up pointless PF penalties.

This is another of the ST legacy safeties, grew up watching him and wanted to come here because of that.

Agree 100%. I've wanted him all along. BTW, the man can still play. Great route runner, catches the ball, fearless on inside routes, runs well, reputation as a great teammate and mentor to younger players. One or two year contract would be nice.

Anderson is probably gone. He really doesn't have a position in the 4-3. Quinn can back up Sims. It will be interesting to see what they do w/ Holcomb. He can play in the middle or on the weak side. Same w/ SDH.

I think Anderson’s status is dependent on Kerrigan’s status.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020

I thought Anderson was more of a 4-3 linebacker at Alabama, not a down lineman, plus they just added Nate Orchard as a backup DE, not sure where Anderson fits and can't see him having any trade value

It has been reported that RK wants to stay around and the Redskins want him, just a matter if whether CY gets drafted in which case RK becomes a situational pass rusher/ rotational piece rather than a starter

Trade Quinn to Jags for their 1st round pick. Gruden will make sure of it.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020

Anderson - hes our starting SAM, came on well the last half of last year. He played 50% of the D snaps last year, I imagine that goes up this year.

Ryan Anderson is going to play a big role next year.

Quinn - I dont know why everyone hates on him. To me, that fact that he is still on an NFL roster as Mr. Irrelevant means hes already exceeded expectations from when we drafted him. Some people mention how Gruden hyped this guy up .... so Gruden hyped up a Mr. Irrelevant and now since Quinn is not a star, we take shots at him?

I like Quinn as a WR5 or WR6, Id probably take him off punt returns duties. You need someone to be no. 55 on your 55 man roster, he serves a purpose at a super low rate. If you view him in that context, maybe you dont hate on him as much.

EdmundDorf 03-19-2020 11:32 AM

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings 2020

Thats what I thought initially but the local beat reporters haven't mentioned him and it seems Holcomb is the favourite for the strong side, which leaves Anderson in limbo without a position

As for Quinn you are of course right, he suffers from guilt by association, Gruden proclaimed him as something special and Gruden was wrong (again) and people associate Quinn with Gruden as a result..... kind of hoped Gruden would get the Jags to send a 5th our way if he liked him so much

If saying Quinn isn't very good is a shot, ok shot taken.

He's just a guy and he certainly has no trade value.

Having Gruden put Quinn over Sims also didn't help, especially when it was clear that Sims was the better player.

Sims is legit. Also, its clear he already has a strong connection with Haskins in the pass game.

No, you guys are right. Quinn is a JAG and shouldnt have been put in front of the Sims. I think Im overly protective of him bc he is Mr. Irrelevant.

I am pretty damn satisfied with our WR core. I think bringing in a solid vet for a year or 2 is the perfect plan. McLaurin, Vet, Harmon, Sims is a legit top 4 to me.
