Yes I'm sure this is all just to distract everyone.

AH has been an ongoing problem since MS got here in case anyone forgot.
I agree Matty, look I don't like Snyder as a owner ...never have but give the man his due. He finaly hired the right team to run the team for him and he's doing exactly what he should ...sit back and let the GM and Head coach handle this mess.
I agree that we have the right man to clean up, but unfortunately, this Snyder/Cerrato created mess has set the team back 2-3 years. The offensive line is no better now than it was opening day 2009. Surely, some of that $36M thrown away on Haynesworth could have been used to build a very adequate O-line by now. And now with Haynesworth on his way out so early in his contract, how much dead cap money will the team be burdened with next year? I really wish that we would stockpile and build through the draft, augment with modest FA signings (think Fletcher), and stop chasing the biggest names.

I am kidding, I know AH was not punished to deflect from our horrid play.
But it is having that effect. It is an AH feeding frenzy and very little mention of our play as a team. The Giants game feels like weeks ago.
I'll be curious to see if the players rally around Shanahan and play well this weekend. I hope so.

It seems like he is making excuses. I heard the whole interview and kept saying he just wanted to play. He is the one that said he talked to the coaches and said he would be better out of the 3-4 scheme and they said OK. He also stepped aside and let someone else take his starting position. If you really just wanted to play you would have never stepped aside.I think he is just trying to save face to bad for both sides.

I am guessing that most everyone here that reads that will feel the same, that is a guy who just doesn't get it. I would add that he almost made it sound like he was calling on Dan Snyder to intervene:
"Let’s concentrate on playing football, which is what we’re paid to do and win games. That’s what Mr. [Dan] Snyder wants, that’s what I want, and hopefully that’s what other people want.”
Hopefully, what Mr. Snyder wants is for AH to do what the coaches tell him to do.

and...
“You think at some point they would get it, not me having to go [upstairs] and say it,” Haynesworth said.
I can't tell by the article if upstairs refers to Shanahan or Snyder, but to me, the whole point is that at some point he should have "gotten it"

That article nearly made me sick :(

For years now, controversy and issues having little to do with football and how the game is/should be played on the field has consumed the mindset of many Redskin fans.

This new age of communication in many ways only serves to add fuel to the fire. Every day there seems to be a new issue that contributes to a distracted mind and prohibit players from concentrating on what's important. The publicized issue that now exists between Phillip Daniels and Bryan Mitchell is a typical example of a situation that should have no place serving as a player distraction in the middle of a football season. Current and former players calling each other out publicly are issues, [minor though they may be] are happenings that just don't need to be. It's so different for me because it's a far cry from anything I've ever been accustomed too.

Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season

I heard the V Holiday int today replayed on the M & M show. It was funny as hell. Like VH is saying, the players would drop on the field and yell "who am I?" imitating Big on the infamous 7 second lying on the ground play. VH was not nasty about it, but he totally said Big was not a good teamate. Could not be depended on. Dogged it. Resisited everything the coaches tried to do, etc.
While these are things anybody with a brain has observed (and fans see and know very little of what really goes on), it is RARE for ANY player and far more still for multiple long term, established and probowl caliber players would say publicly.
SEE YA' Big
The next time I want a player that can handle the rigors of the NFL, I'll dip into the ESPN clerical pool as at least they can pass the PFT???
He does not know it yet, but he F... himself with all this BS

I know there are some Haynensworth apologist here that will say Big Al didn't get a fair shake with Shanahan...horsehockey......He didn't like the "scheme" or the coachs last year and went upstairs and behind their backs to cry ....well he got what he wanted...they got fired and he got "new Coachs"....now we still don't like the scheme or Haslett and everyone is picking on Al...again.
Shanahan is the "HEADCOACH".....he is "God" when it comes to that team ...you do what you are told....end of story ,doesn't matter if you make 100 mill or 100 thousand..if he tells you to be the kicker ...you do it.

There are some EX Redskin coachs laughing real hard right now.

I have to agree. When I am not to pissed for rational thought...........I think, MAN Big A REALLY hosed himself in DC and possibly anywhere for that matter. Really could have been something.
Yah, he absconded some cash........
HUGE talent and nobody is more appreciative than Dan with the money. He is now a marked man now. He will never get that kind of pay day again and he could have. Somebody will give him a shot, but with caution.
I heard a sports guy today speculating that he does not like Football.....just what it can bring...like $$$$
Shame........

When his career is over and he gets a little older, he will reflect back and realize his mistake. The money won't be as important as what he could have been. He will leave no legacy and eventually be forgotten completely. Enjoy it while you can AH. HTTR!

The Carter philosophy is one Albert would have been best served by adopting and adhering too. He recognizes, and has accepted his limitations in making the switch from down lineman to L/B, but he didn't complain and made the most of his abilities, limited though they may be. True definition of a team player.

Even a guy like Philip Daniels, people forget that at Georgia and early in his NFL career with the Seahawks he was basically the Orakpo of his day. A hybrid linebacker-RDE with pass rushing skills who ultimately found that he could either let injuries that hurt his quickness end his career or he could find a niche as a run stopping LDE and last in the league for over 15 years.
Better than releasing him in my opinion. Recoup some cash and let him rot, **** HIM!!
That is my thought too!! Why should we release him so he can sign somewhere else and then grin up in the cameras because he was another person that came to washington to get paid and not play like they did to get the big contract.

1) Adam Archuleta
Redskins, in 2006, paid him a seven-year, $35 million deal that included $10 million up front.

2) Jeff George
George got a four-year, $18 million pact -- to back up Johnson.

3) Brandon Lloyd
Washington traded third- and fourth-round picks to the 49ers, then gave Lloyd -- before he'd ever taken an offseason rep -- a $31 million deal with more than $10 million up front.

4) Deion Sanders
At 32 years old, Sanders was released by Dallas and was immediately signed -- get this -- to a seven-year, $56 million deal that included a $8 million bonus.

5) Jeremiah Trotter
Washington signed its former division rival to a seven-year, $35 million deal that came with $7 million guaranteed.

Bruce Smith deserves dishonarable mention also.

bigdaddy2348:

Funny you should mention Trotter because there is an interesting parallel here.

Recall how the Skins got to sign Trotter to that big deal - - at the time. Trotter had been given the "franchise tag" by the Eagles and he was pissed about that. He and Andy Reid had a public war of words and when Reid refused to take off the franchise tag - - or to guarantee in the one-year deal that he would not use it on Trotter again the next year - - Trotter made a real annoyance of himself.

Once Reid and DC Jim Johnson realized that they had a viable back-up at MLB, the Eagles took the tag off of Trotter and let him become a free agent.

The Skins signed him and asked him to do something he had never shown he could do well in his entire NFL career - - pass coverage. After a while, that did not work out here and the Skins cut him. Where did he go? Back to Andy Reid who told Trotter they had a job for him doing what he was suited to do - - but at a much lower rate of pay. Trotter took the job and spent a couple more years in the league.

Andy Reid and his coaches made a decision on Trotter to franchise him. They stuck to it; they never insulted him or humilated him - - but they franchised him and never wavered on how they were going to do business with him. When the Trotter/Redskins marriage fell apart, there was a professional relationship still in place for Reid and Trotter to act upon.

I seriously doubt that is the case with Shanahan/Haslett/Haynesworth/whomever...

Yeah not sure I see much of a real connection between Trotter and AH.

Might be more accurate to compare how Reid dealt with T.O.

thats the weird part and why both parties have to take some form of blame. either they tried to build a case againgst him in an effort to get back some money. or they saw flashes of brilliance from time to time and wanted to make it work, or snyder just didn't sign off on it until he refused to speak with shanahan. either way it was mishandled and mishandled badly. let's just hope it doesn't happen anytime in the near future and try and build a team to be proud of.
