Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread

Great way to start the game by the Wiz. Songaila giving James the backhand. I'm switching to the Comcast telecast because the TNT guys are annoying, I'm not argueing the call by the refs on Songaila but lol at the TNT old guy saying he threw a punch, if he thinks that's a "punch" then he needs to go watch a real fight. The TNT guy said he should've been thrown out lol. Either way we need to calm the f down.

anyone in the dc area who watches the wizards on comcast knows that buck and phil are very fair, non biased commentators. but this game they are really getting ticked off. songaila got a technical for getting his arm out of a lock by lebron and he gets a technical. buck and phil were perplexed. that really says something. also they complained about lebron overreacting to everything. the refs are really buying into the lebron bull and varejao bull (that haywood call was very bad). that being said, we are playing well. the cavs are doing their usual bs tactic of faking their way back into a game by pissing off the wizards with bs calls and the refs are buying it

Geez, 2 point lead going into halftime.... But Felipe Lopez up to bat with bases loaded in the bottom of the tenth.

I'd be more comfortable about this game if the Wizards didn't have 13 turnovers in the first half. That's ridiculous sloppy ball.

I kept arguing with a buddy of mine that this team was better without Gilbert...

We'll see tonight, but we've got a 3 point lead with 8:00 left.

They are better w/out Agent Zero, I'm sad to say.

Particularly a healthy Gilbert. Ideally they would play him at the 2, instead of point

But anyway....HUGE WIN

Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread

i think the different is that the wizards take better shots when GA isnt in the lineup. he needs to become more disciplined and play more with the team. hes a pg that averages a low assist amount. i think stevenson adds good balance to the team and i think he should stay in the starting lineup. however, AD is getting old and GA is going to be a free agent either this year or next right? didnt he opt out? either way a new pg is needed

Big distinction there too...

Gilbert just doesn't have the confidence he does when healthy.

Great win! Time to take them down in our house.

I definitely agree with that, Buck and Phil are always cool and calm and they are very fair. I definitely would rather watch them than whatever big name is doing the show for channels like ESPN, ABC, or TNT.

Big win for the Wiz tonight, I was starting to get scared in the fourth because we kept missing all those shots but they pulled together for the win. It definitely is starting to seem like this team plays better when GA isn't playing, especially Butler. I know GA brings a strong offensive presence to the game but he still isn't making a strong impact on defense, and sometimes if he gives up a critical shot it affects his mind like in game 4. He said on his blog that when West hit the 3 he was thinking about that when he went up to try and tie the game and he wasn't fully concentrating and that's why it was a bad shot.

I'm also glad this team left it out on the court tonight, other than the penalty on Songaila for backhanding Lebron they played more calm than they have in the first four.

Before this year I had a ton of respect for LBJ, because I thought he was a tough, smart basketball player, but since this series has started, all he has done is scream and ask for a fould every chance he's gotten, I have no respect for a player like that.

That's nothing new, he's been doing that since we started playing them in the playoffs the last 3 seasons. I'll give him his due, he's a great player, but I feel like he whines way too much.

And I gotta say, I laughed my ass off when he grabbed his throat after Songaila gave him the backhand to his cheek. Great acting there Lebron. He is a good actor though, whether it be falling down from a slight tap or the fact that the refs never notice the traveling when he decides to drive to the basket.

i agree, he has been doing this in every series we have had with the cavaliers. he got hit in the chin and was grasping his throat like he was choking, he checks his lip for blood when he gets hit on the arm...really pathetic. a great player like that should not be getting into sh!t like that

Almost all of Brendan Haywood's fouls came that way.

That crap the officials tried to pull last night was unbelievable. I mean, down to the very last play of the game they tried to give LeBron the call. The Cavs stood there stunned at the end because there wasn't a foul called. Unbelievable.

I don't ever won't to hear LaBron's name and Kobe's name in the same breath again.

Great win for the Zards! Comin' back to Verizon, baby.

I was getting ready to post the same thing about LJ. He's an unbelievable player but damn how many calls can one person get. It's really unbelievable.

I mean come on LBJ is getting Jordan calls and he's won as many championships as anyone on this board. I've always said Kobe is a better player and always will be. Kobe doesn't travel on every drive and doesn't cry as much(almost every NBA player cries for fouls) as LBJ. I mean its starting to look like professional soccer with some of this after the foul acting. Not knocking soccer I know most of those guys are incredible athletes but come on, sac up and stop acting. I know he's good but I can't stand Lebron. Anyways good win......Go Wiz!!!

I didn't get to catch the game last night because I was out and about, but it appears I didn't miss much. Sorry I wasn't around to joust verbally with you guys...I had to get an MRI on my lower back and I have been out of pocket / out of town for a couple days. I have some severe issues with my lower back and the word "disability" has been thrown around by my doctor which is scaring me at this point considering I am only 33.

Does anyone know how disability works?

ps- MRI's SUCK for people that are claustrophobic (sp?).

I would love to comment on game 6 of the C's and game 7 of the Wiz/ cavs game, but I missed them both.

You guys aren't far from being a contender. You have a decent nucleus. You need better role players, and your coaching needs to be a little tighter. There were a lot of dumb shots and wreckless plays (IMO) during your series.

Papa John's to offer Cleveland residents 23-cent pizzas

Papa John's Pizza issued an apology to Cleveland and the Cavaliers for making T-shirts with LeBron James' number and the word "crybaby" under it.

To apologize, Papa John's will sell Cleveland residents a large, one-topping pizza for 23 cents on Thursday. The 23 is an homage to James' jersey number. The company also will donate $10,000 to the Cavaliers Youth Fund.

That is one of the gayest things I have ever heard of, Washington residents should get free pizza for all those crappy calls.

Wizards confident team will resemble 2007-08 makeup

There is no use speculating whether Gilbert Arenas and Antawn Jamison will return to the Washington Wizards next season. If the attitudes expressed Sunday are any indication, their futures with the team are a foregone conclusion.

"I think it will be the case," forward Caron Butler said. "I'm almost positive that it will be the case, that Gil and Antawn will be back in a Wizards uniform next year."

Butler's words were echoed repeatedly by his teammates. Even point guard Antonio Daniels, not one normally to wade into front office matters, said keeping Arenas and Jamison is "a must."

"Crucial is an understatement," Daniels said. "My job is to play, not to make those decisions, but it is a must. We want to make a run at something that we feel is so close."

"If I'm 100 percent, then I'm going to ask for a max," Arenas told the station. "If I'm not, then it's negotiation time. If I know my knee's not going to be 100 percent, then I'm not going to sit there and say: 'I want the max.'"

If Gil leaves, I wouldn't be completely pissed, but if Jamison does the Wizards are gonna have some trouble, he is a very good veteran with rebounding ability, shooting ability, and hopefully won't ask for much.

mooby 05-04-2008 11:20 PM

Re: Official Wizards vs Cavaliers Playoff Thread

Yeah to be honest, I'm more worried about Antawn leaving. He was pretty much the glue that held this team together when Gil and Caron were out, and even though Caron is the better player his future with the team is pretty much certain.

He's had great success in the regular season, but struggled in the playoffs, he has made it to the second round 3 times, and that's in the west. He also had a .608 winning percentage during regular season.

Some think EJ has lost the team, but I think Grunfeld needs to do a better job putting the right pieces in place for Jordan and his offense. They need a young point guard for starters. Not to mention an enforcer, and a big man who can create his own shot facing the basket. Now maybe they could find some of those answers among young guys like Young, McGuire, Pecherov, and Blatche but I have yet to see it. And I don't know if guys like Jamison and Arenas (not to mention Daniels) want to wait around for it.

I can't answer that question about disability but yeah I know what you're talking about. When they make you sit on that tray and then they slide the tray back into the middle of that big machine and you have to sit there. I'm a pretty big guy as well and it was pretty cramped in there and after about 30 seconds I was like, shiiiiiit this really isn't cool, I need to get the hell out of this thing while I can lolol.

As for the Wizards, well I was reading the ESPN article about tonight's game between the Celts and the Cavs, and I was suprised about how well they shut LBJ down. EJ (if we meet up with the Cavs in the playoffs again next year) should watch this game because it seems like they really forced LBJ off his game.

And I saw two interesting lines at the bottom of the article as well, the first one said

"Cleveland shot 18 of the game's first 22 free throws"

Reminds me of our first game against the Cavs, and

"Cassell was called for a flagrant foul when he kept James from a free throw with 5½ minutes left in the half. The replay seemed to indicate that James enhanced the damage"

ahahaha. Now why would he do that?

I found out afterward that they could have given me a pill to calm me down for the procedure, but they didn't even look at their own damn questionaire to see that I am claustrophobic. Nice huh?

About the fouls...I thought all fouls on Lebron were legit in game 1. I thought the flagrant foul was a bit excessive, but I totally understand why the refs called it.
By the way, you can't complain that James "enhanced" the damage when 99% of players do regular flops. The other 1% will soon find themselves on the bench. They all act up the fouls...it's a part of the game.

The Celts played like crap in game 1, but they came out with the win anyway. Hopefully the Cavs will continue to play like crap too.
