Man Dorsey is tiny, 5'7, 173 lbs. Looks like he sure can scoot though.
IMO a back that small will get killed, literally, behind our line unless we upgrade at least two spots i.e. RT and G/C. ... i mean CP was originally a speed/slash back, obviously bigger than this kid Dorsey, but transformed himself into a bruiser to fit our running game. Portis is a special talent w/ pretty staggering physical gifts... this kid won't be able to handle getting gang-tackled by half a dozen brutes once he crosses the LOS. ... i say until the o-line gets a whole lot quicker, younger and bigger we'd be smarter to invest in a bruiser like B. Jacobs if we're going to do anything @ RB this year. |

My neighbor is a Canadian Argonauts fan. I will ask him for some inside information next time I see him.

Re: News from up North
why can't you see us carrying dorsey, are, and cartwright? we carried 7 rookies who didn't have a big imapct on the field if any impact at all so why couldn't the skins carry a 4th rb and another return man that atleast could have an impact in the return game?
we carried 7 rookies in a PR move to make Cerrato look good. we let Billy McMullen go and kept Malcom Kelly on the active roster, even though our doctors reportedly recommended IRing him. We let Marcus Mason go when he was essentially MVP of the NFL in preseason because we needed roster spots for our 10 draft picks. I dont care how electrifying this guy is in camp and/or preseason, hes not going to make the active roster unless we trade Cartwright, ARE, or Betts... just my opinion though. |
Re: News from up North
So I talked to my cousin who's been a scout, among other things, for the CFL and his take is that Dorsey is exciting and can give you the occasional big play, but he doesn't think he really has the size nor speed to make up for the lack of size to make it in the NFL.
He liked Chris Wilson when we signed him, thought he'd easily make the team and could be an impact player but he's not as high on Dorsey...for what it's worth |

Re: News from up North
Well, NFL (or maybe it's CFL) rules state that if any NFL team wants to sign a CFL player currently under contract to a CFL team to potentially add to their 2009 roster, they have to do it by the end of next week. I think maybe February 15th is the deadline.
That's why you see so many CFL players being signed around this time. Whatever interest they have on him, they had to act on it now.
I was not aware of that rule. That would suck in the business world. |

How many scouts in the CFL have made it in the NFL..........blah...blah...blah. I think your cousin is probably right. And John Palermo was on Redskin Nation and talked about Wilson having a big upside and was kinda put on the backshelf due to the signing of JT. |

I appreciate that perspective because it sounds in line with what a Canadian prospect would bring to an NFL team in just one year, even if he is setting the CFL ablaze. Thanks for the dream-free anaylsis. |

On the other hand, being a CFL scout makes one infinitely more qualified than the average redskins fan posting on a message board. :)
So I talked to my cousin who's been a scout, among other things, for the CFL and his take is that Dorsey is exciting and can give you the occasional big play, but he doesn't think he really has the size nor speed to make up for the lack of size to make it in the NFL. I'm not going to get excited about this move yet, but i don't think its a BAD move on the part of the skins either. Its nice to see they are exploring all their options and actively taking steps to improve the team. If we were sitting around doing absolutely nothing, completely content with our roster, then i would be irritated. |

That is true. Especially for those fans who do not take the winking smiley face as a sign of sarcasm. :) |

funny that you mentioned that. I actually looked all over for a winky smiley but couldnt find it. must not have looked closely enough. I'm just looking forward to the opportunity to use this one for the first time: :bdh: |

I see your point, but the size isn't only about height. It's also about the fact that he barely can clear 170 lbs. Sproles is over 180, and Rock over 210 |
Re: News from up North
:bdh: can be used anytime around hear latley:) especially when 53 is posting :)

Re: News from up North
I think Dorsey can make a great ST player even at 170. I wouldn't mind starting from the 40+YL once in a while.
